I’ve found myself thinking this week about how I might return to producing a personal YouTube vlog.

I am not sure I have the energy to spend editing at length but I can shoot on my ATEM powered workstation now of course.

Today was Dante Level 3 (Day 2 of 2).

The session included a more detailed look at advanced network configuration for Dante systems as well as troubleshooting them!

Friday the 13th has always been a positive day for our family. Today we configured TalkBack to remote sources.

There’s only 5 analogue cables in the entire event direction studio: TB microphone, headphones, monitor speakers (L+R) and a stereo mix to the AMPISO!

With no automatic monitor cut on opening a mic fader, on our Yamaha Pro Audio Europe TF3 Digital Mixing Console, we have instead configured a series of RESET, STANDBY and GO LIVE buttons on the connected Elgato StreamDeck XL driven by the Bitfocus Companion app.

I’ve finally finished the physical build of my home workstation/studio with self-op/‘as live’ filming/recording in mind.

I’m now focusing on ATEM media player stills, recording/writing/editing ATEM macros, OSC commands to call iPad videos in (iMiX16) & H2R Graphics integration!

Yesterday we installed a pair of 3D printed legs to tilt the ATEM Mini Pro switcher up. Some customised foam rubber pads were applied to stop the device from sliding during use.

We’re onto the advanced configuration of our video switcher - the popular Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Pro ISO.

Using the Bitfocus Companion app, the emulator on our iPad is nice but misses occasionally and lacks tactile confidence so an Elgato is on the wish-list.

With the audio chain completed and debugged ~ our focus moves to the video chain.

Extra cables, an extra AV adaptor for CAM1 as well as the installation and configuration of a recording/streaming switcher.

An interesting day (1 of 2) spent at the virtual version of UKPhotoShow - chatting to Booth Reps from Benbo, RØDE Microphones and ShiftCam.

I discovered a product I didn’t know about, obtained advice and chatted with a company my father worked for 30+ years ago!

Well, once we had decided to dedicate space in ‘The Hobby Room’ for , a desk was bought in May and the basic workstation build has just been completed.

We can finally focus on being productive again!

The final stage of completing the audio chain at our workstation today - 2/3 filling the speaker stands ready to position near-field monitors.

The video chain needs attention next but we feel it’s really coming together now.
