Hanafuda is a Japanese-style deck of cards. In which the cards are divided into 12 suits, inspired by the months of the year. is bringing their own deck, and here is why I love it.

This is my first time playing with a Hanafuda, as with any other deck, a Hanafuda allows you to play different games as Koi-Koi. The games are clever and easy to follow.

The art is breathtaking, full of details and color. If you aren't used to these types of decks, it will take a little bit to recognize the months, but the more you play, the easier it gets, and believe me you will want to play more than once.

The Shrines at To-Ji temple is the last expansion, and it allows you to collect benefits that involve characters, landmarks, and victory points.

The expansion box also comes with two new characters and a solo mode, you can add the new characters to the base game or mix them up with any/multiple shrines.

I haven’t played the new characters and the Kitano’s and To-ji Pagoda Shrines yet, but so far I have been happily surprised by the expansions, as they add another layer of complexity to the game.

The 3rd expansion of Divergent Patha from Pencil First Games is The Kitano Shrine, which adds offerings to the game. When a player scores a path that touches the Kitano tile they are able to make an offering by giving small tokens of any landmark. Future offerings have to excide the previous amount of tokens.

At the end of the game, the player with the last offering in each corner gets a Kitano token, and the player with the hights amount of offering tokens wins a bonus.

I haven't got the chance to play this expansion yet, but I think it brings an exciting mechanism, more because each player has a limited amount of tokens.

The Nonomiya Shrine is the 2nd expansion of Divergent Paths, currently, on Kickstarter, this expansion adds secret goals, and I love secret goals! When you score a path adjacent to Nonomiya's tile you get 1 card per each tile touching it.

At the end of the game, each complete card will score you 3 points.

Seriously, having secret objectives in a game makes me so happy, making this my favorite expansion so far.

The best part is that you can get multiple cards throughout the game, giving you different possibilities.

The first of the Divergent Paths from Pencil First Games is coming on Kickstarter tomorrow is The Fushimi Inari Shrine.

This adds a wild landmark, that allows you to score other landmarks faster and rush players into getting as many paths around its tile.

You can score the landmark by itself or as part of other tokens to score them.

This expansion helps the game go faster at the beginning and slow down at the end, allowing you to get a lot of points while taking advantage of the Fushimi tile, completing achievement tokens faster.

Of the four expansions, I was only able to play 2 of them. This one was the most played, we enjoyed the rush of trying to get the most amount of wild landmarks and using the characters to divert the paths.

Moonrakers is a game for 1 to 5 players, in which players try to get cards to get points and credits to be able to upgrade their ship.

The art and high-quality components lift the experience of the game, and not only that, but it also comes with a comic book explaining what it is Moonrakers, who cool is that?

This is the perfect combination of deck building and negotiation. Although the player count for this game is 1 to 5 players because the negotiation part is so crucial I prefer playing 4 to 5 players.

The best part is that 3 extensions are coming this summer, and you know what that means, more cards, more challenges, more possibilities.

Maul Peak from is a two-player game, a sequel to Skulk Hollow. One of the things that I love the most is how the rule book clarifies the difference between the games, to make sure you don’t get the rules wrong. Another thing you can use each other as an expansion of the other.

This is an asymmetrical game in which a player plays as a guardian and the other as a hero. The hero needs to defeat the guardian in order to win. And the guardian has a different end game depending on who you are playing, which makes it really exciting.

This has easily become one of our favorite 2-player games. You can find a character according to your prefer gameplay, not only with the hero and guardians that come with it but also with the ones on Skulk Hollow. The game is fast with a lot of strategy. We just love it!.

The art is fantastic! just a heads up if you are arachnophobic (as I am) the box can be a little much but don’t let that ruin your game experience because there are plenty of guardians to play with, and a lot to discover.

Way too Many Cats by Weird Giraffe Games is a puzzle game for 1 to 4 players in which each player takes tiles and tokes from the market in order to fill up their adoption center. Each cat has their own needs on how to be placed.

As every tile has its own preference and bonuses of how to be placed, the game changes every time you play it, even every turn. You can have an idea of what you want or need, but the market restricts those options.

And that is when choosing which group of tokens and which tiles to take becomes your advantage, giving you the flexibility between choosing the cat you need or the tokens that would help you to score extra points.

The cool thing about the tokens is that there are toys and kittens. Toys help you to make your current cats happy and kittens either give you bonus points or can help to score other cats if placed in the right location.

But be careful, because having too many kittens can be hard to manage and you will end up losing some points. The theme and art are extra cute, because who wouldn't want an adoption center to succeed.

The Tabletop Find-It book by Kevin Grote from Old Man Games is live on Kickstarter. And here are a few reasons why I am loving it:

1. The cover is part of the game. This is a sample booklet, the final version will be a hardcover book.
2. Some pages have themes, the components and photo are part of the theme.
3. Other pages don't have a specific theme, but they have a really interesting setup.

Rove is my favorite game so far from . It is a solo game in which you have to solve 7 different puzzles in order to win. You start with a base grid and your goal is to complete the pattern on the top right corner of the active card.

Use the cards from your hand to move the number of times shown, if the setup matches the card you get extra moves. The game is really complex and in every game, you solve different puzzles in a different order.

Love the art, quality, and difficulty of this game. Also, the module cards have abilities that you can use once per game, to help you when you are stuck 😅

One of the highlights of was to learn about and their games. They are my new favorite solo games as they are so portable and have different levels of difficulty.

They are perfect to carry with you for either solo or multiplayer and the packaging makes them great for trips. I cannot stress enough how happy I am about the portability of these games.

Deblockle from is a 2 player game in which the first player to get all their blocks out of the board wins the game. Each face of the block is different and represents how the cube can be moved.

In your turn, you roll your block to an adjacent available space and move it according to its face. You cannot roll any cube to the star face unless you are landing on the start on the opposite side that you started on, then you can remove the block from the board.

The game can be taught in less than a minute and it’s perfect to have it on a coffee table as it is so beautiful and ready to play whenever you want some gaming between a conversation.

Aqualin from is a 2 player game in which one player is scoring animals while the other scores colors. The game is really simple, each turn is divided into 3 steps: move a tile on the board, place a new tile and refill the drafting pool.

At the end of the game, players score the groups of tiles of the same color and the group of tiles of the same type. I told you... simple, but brilliant. The game is so easy to teach that I basically explain it in a tweet.

I love how you are able to move tiles around making the game really strategic. And when placing tiles? You need to think about how they could be moved, and how that will affect your score.

The game is super portable, just put the tiles on a baggie and you are ready to go.
