Last year, I came across the concept of "extreme ownership" and practiced it. I can say I've come a long way and evolved to have a much higher level of mindset totally ready to take on more for myself.

So you don't need inspiration to begin creating what you want to create. You can just get to work. But that doesn't mean you can't also be a big fan of inspiration and enjoy finding it.
I'm inspired by acts of creation that are amazingly beautiful and moving. And I keep noticing that they are timeless. They don't have to be trendy or up to date.

Stevie was my little grandson at the time. He was always so happy and playful, making up games and stories with his tiny action figures.
I asked Fred what he meant. He said, "Just play with it like he would do. And play just to play, not as a means to an end. Play with no purpose."

And moving out of the polar extremes caused by self-judgment will give you a middle field of play you never knew you had. Once you get there you'll be focused and present to the now. You won't be nervously looking over your shoulder to see if a judgment is coming to get you. The outer world of distractions won't undermine you now that you're creating from here.

In the middle, you don't care about whether you're good or bad. And that's the key to the power of the middle.
You're just jumping into action and communication and moving right along, happy to see tiny improvements,... and happy to be out there on the field, learning as you go, not bad, not good, but certainly getting better.

The ego never created anything.
Its job is to worry about lack of creation. . . and to find out how to personalize that lack. So it has a heartless job, the performance of which does us no good whatsoever.... Creativity itself comes from beyond the ego, or the contracted "me" made up of personal thoughts, psychic wounds, fears and desperate desires.

The wakeup call went something like this: As far as who you are, it's all a creation. Even your seemingly "authentic" personality, the one you think you're improving or adding play-acting on top of—that first personality, the real you, was made up....
But here's the problem with talking and writing about this kind of spiritual awakening or neurological insight: people will think you are crazytown.

Always gracious, Michael [Neill] allowed that an individual person's creative output would of course be limited, but the source of that creativity was unlimited... and then finishing after a long pause by saying, "You are the infinite creative potential of the entire f**king universe—deal with it."

She doesn't see yet that when it comes to knowing you are creating a life of profound service to others (which she is), there's no comparison. No need for it. No sense to it. And those rare (but increasing) times when she's in touch with who she really is? Her face lights up. She knows herself as love and beauty and the divine energy of creativity. And inside that knowing there is no possibility of comparison.

I used to give a short seminar to businesses called "Welcoming Every Circumstance." It encouraged my clients to take customer complaints as positive material to create from. They would learn to create new systems, new agreements and newer, more trusting relationships with customers.

Therefore, to reactivate our awareness of infinite creativity, we might want to replace every "I'm not good at" with "I have not given time and attention to the practice of that."
With that awareness, we can create almost anything.

This creative energy is who you are....
Creativity is flowing energy. It's not a static, frozen thing.
And it does not belong to the ego.
The ego wants it. But it really just wants the label of it: "He's creative!" But creativity comes from beyond the ego. It springs from an intelligent energy always present. Beyond my personal thinking. Beyond my tiny ego.

"Wow. I can't do that." That was my automatic thought about anything and anyone I admired. I was making everything personal and always thinking, "That's not me."
But when I began to see that nothing had to be personal, and everything could be creative, I could hear the same kind of talk and think, "Oh yes, I do love this. I am getting so many ideas from this! This is beautiful. I am going to use a version of this!"

Anytime I collapsed into "What is it about me?" creativity would disappear.
That was my hardest lesson: learning that creativity isn't personal. The creative flow is not related to the ego. No matter how much the ego tries to get involved and take the credit.

I'm always able to see extreme "creativity" in other people, people like L.M. Miranda! Or G. O'Keefe! Or G. VanderWaal or Drake...! But by comparing myself to them every time I see their work, I distance myself from creativity itself.
And in doing so, I distance myself from my true nature.
And we all do that until we don't.

So creativity is our infinite nature, and extraordinary creative works thrive on the gift of time and attention.

Because we can't just "do" the magic of a flash of creative insight on command. We have to wait for that. Allow it in rather than force it to happen.
But we can do time and attention. All of us can. And the more we do that, the more often the insights come.

It was the wellspring.
We all have it. In fact, it's all we have. We just use it differently, depending on our levels of consciousness and awareness, and depending on what we choose to practice creating.

It can feel like fun when we're gossiping, judging and labeling and praising and criticizing others and, eventually, ourselves. But if you're like me you will end up (in the words of the novelist John Barth) lost in the funhouse.
The alternative to being lost in the funhouse is to actually live as creativity itself. Divine, loving creative energy. The light. To be it... Knowing that it's what you are and all you are.

Susan Reis' book, Five Sacred Minutes to Your Joyful Self, is probably not for everyone because of the “woo” elements in it. But as she also pointed out in her book, you choose your own truth and you create your own contract (stories you tell yourself).
There are practicalities in her teachings and sound therapy meditations (downloadable MP3s are included in the book) that you can easily do daily to open up new Joyful Possibilities for yourself, though. If you’re an Earth Angel, a Light Worker, or someone who thinks you are meant to manifest and bring more Love and Light to the world, then you’ll definitely want to read and use her book!
