This newspaper article by published by the Sunday Nation not only gives a preview of what the short film BARUA is about, but also gives information on how the idea came to be (the first pic here, check it out). The project is the brainchild of a group of university lecturers in Nakuru County. The story revolves around two couples, one of them being Mr. & Mrs. Jacob. Egerton University’s Lydia Mareri plays the role of Mrs. Jacobs a HR manager faced by dilemmas because of the need to downsize to keep the firm afloat. Renowned drama teacher, script writer and lecturer Michael Kiguta plays the role of Jacob, a husband, father, and employee. The story of the two couples in the short film intertwine. Mwalimu Kiguta has experience in screen acting and won the award for best actor in the film category in the Kenya National Drama Festival in 2012. The film directed by Benson Ngobia who has extensive experience in the field not only as a practitioner but as a lecturer. The noble project brought together an outstanding team with Silas Temba as the production manager. The story and experiences of the two couples capture the socio-economic effects of the covid-19 pandemic. BARUA is coming very soon. Excited.
