To me, seems to be the art of coming up with whatever argument will “solve” the current issue that you’re discussing and ignoring how many problems it raises for other issues. It’s just thought stopping techniques.

For it is the truth that shall set you free, is it not?

Do we even have that power? If we do, what does that say about your faith? If it can’t withstand challenge, is it worth having?

It’s problematic enough that he’s praying to himself, but then he doesn’t listen? I remember being told that if God doesn’t grant what we pray for, either we don’t see the whole picture or our heart wasn’t in the right place. So how do we explain this?

I’m not sure it can be done. Hell, I don’t know anything could even pass the first criteria. I’ve been wrong before, though.

But if this can’t be answered, what reason is there to believe?

Also, by “significant” I mean essential to the religion and is critical to showing that Christianity is actually true. Something like “Jerusalem was occupied by the Romans” or “ancient Egypt was a thing” doesn’t cut it. I’m not talking mundane facts. I need something convincing.

We’re counting on you.

Christians seem to have this idea in their head (I would know, I was one) that their faith is just SO obviously good and the best thing ever and definitely true that the only reason that someone would reject it would have to be because they’re just rebellious or something. Or maybe it’s that this person didn’t hear the Real Gospel™ presented the RIGHT way, and all they need to hear is YOUR correct presentation and they’ll magically find it irresistible.

But the idea that it’s just not that great OR believable is such a foreign concept.

This is what I’ve spent my adult life trying to reclaim. Tough, but .

Religion is scared. It’s scared that if it lets children think and discover for themselves, it won’t survive.

The more I think about strong atheism (the positive assertion that there is no God), the less I see it as problematic. If the only grounds for condemning it are, “You can’t prove it,” then the claim of, “There IS a God,” should be condemned on the same grounds.

I’m just as comfortable saying that there is no God as I am that there is no Easter Bunny. No need to prove absence when there’s no good reason to believe presence.

Everyone loves a good testimony and a bold voice, even if it steps on some toes, when it’s someone on their side. But as soon as the story changes, suddenly, “You should really tone it down, you’re being divisive.”
