As believers, we are the salt and light of the world. Salt was(is) used as a preservative by rubbing it into meat, salt is also used to bring flavor to food. As salt preserves meat from rotting, believers in Jesus distributed around the world, help to preserve humanity from falling into godlessness, immorality, chaos and the resulting judgement.
Salt permanently changed the flavor of food, just as the influence of godly people can change a culture.
Christians serve a godly purpose in the world simply by living out what we believe about Jesus. Christians stop serving that purpose when we stop living in faithfulness to God

1) How are we using our bodies?
2) Do we let sin control the way we live?
3) Are we using our bodies as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God?

Those who are in Christ should not let sin control the way we live. We died to our old self and now we have a new life in Christ. We have been set free from the authority of sin, sin is not in charge of our lives any longer, sin can’t tell us what to do any more. Even though we have not lost our desire to sin, sometimes we still want to sin even knowing how destructive our sin is. We shouldn’t volunteer to sin, we shouldn’t let sin control our bodies. Instead, we must present our bodies to God to be used for righteousness.

Amazing benefits that instantly come with being declared righteous before God by faith in Christ’s death for our sin is that;

1) God has made peace with us
We(believers) live in a state of being at peace with God forever; we are no longer in danger of receiving His angry justice for our now-forgiven sin.

2) We stand in His grace
What each of us deserved because of our sin was God’s angry judgment. What we have been given instead is God’s grace

3) We have joy that comes from having the absolutely sure hope of experiencing the glory of God for eternity

Does our lifestyle reflect Christ in us?

As believers, let the world see Jesus through us. Let our lifestyle reflect Christ in us, Let our lifestyle bring people to Christ rather than turning them away from Christ.
When we claim to be Christians but behave in un-Christ-like ways, it dishonors God; and when non-believers see those sins, they blame them on the faith.
Therefore, those who claim the name of God need to be extremely careful about the kind of reputation we create in this world.

Matthew 18:6

But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.

For all - No exceptions
Sinned - Go wrong
Fall short - fail
Glory of God - What He shares with those who are in His family (His Children)

But because we all sin and fall short, we are unable to achieve the objective (Glory Of God).
Our sin keeps us from sharing in His glory( His greatness, His perfection)

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Wages - payment
Death - Spiritual death/Separation from God
Gift of God is eternal life - New life, a free gift, Never ceases; instead of being separated from God for all eternity, those who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior will have a union with Him.

Sin separates us from God but God is so rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom with the blood of His son and forgave our sins (Ephesians 1:7)
So the only way for us to be made right with God is to believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood for us. God make sinners right in His sight when they believe in Jesus Christ.
Therefore, we are saved by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone

Do you think you are exempt from God’s judgment for sin?

We should never make the mistake of thinking just because our sins seem smaller, we will be saved from His wrath toward our sin. Also, we should never assume that our relationship with God is more special than that of other people.
We all are guilty and deserving of God’s wrath.
For God shows no partiality when it comes to judgment for personal sin. He holds same standard for all; God regards each one of us individually irrespective of race or any other consideration.

1) What is in the Good News about Christ to be ashamed of?
2) Can we take the risk of preaching it to strangers?

It is one thing to believe the gospel; it’s another thing to take the risk of preaching it to strangers.
Everyone who puts their faith in Christ and his death for their sin on the cross will be justified (Made right with God) and welcomed into God’s family.
I am not ashamed of the Good News about Christ WHY? Because it is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believe.
In the gospel, God declares human beings to be righteous in His eyes because of their faith. We cannot be declared righteous before God by following the law, doing good works or being obedient. And if we are not declared righteous in God’s eyes, then we cannot be with God hence, separated from Him forever because of our sinfulness. However, according to the gospel, Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty of death and separation from God for our sins on the cross. When we trust in Christ, God sees us through Christ and declares us to be “righteous” or “justified “. As the scriptures say “it is through faith that a righteous person has life” (Romans 1:17)

1) What do you do when you are suffering hardship?
2) What do you do when you are happy?
3) What do you do when you are spiritually weak?

As believers, we are encouraged to pray whenever we encounter sufferings or hardship, we are to sing praises to God when we are happy, and when we are spiritually weak; maybe due to ongoing suffering or other cause(s), we should call for the elders/spiritual leaders of the church to pray for us and anoint us with oil in the name of the Lord so our faith will be reestablished and any sin responsible for the spiritual weakness will be forgiven. As Christians, we should not suffer in private, rather, we should pray but also get others to pray for us. Prayer works, God listens and responds. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective because God hears and takes action

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, be patient in your sufferings; for your harvest will come. The Lord will honor those who are patient and endure under sufferings. For instance Job, was a man of great endurance and the Lord was kind to him at the end. Imagine the farmer, think of how hardworking the are, all of the struggle and strain, through all the stages of the growing season, eventually lead to the glorious harvest. Let the reality of God’s promise; His pledge to rescue us and make things right give us the ability to stand strong even when our circumstances have not yet changed. BE PATIENT, YOUR HARVEST WILL COME

As humans, our words are powerful. Our tongues are small but capable of corrupting our entire body. If we try to tame our tongue Thesame way we take animals such as birds, reptiles and fish, then we would be in perfect control of our entire bodies. Life and dead are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). What we say can either preserve life or destroy it. Imagine cursing people with Thesame mouth you use to praise God. Our words are fire, igniting the entire course of our lives. Thesame way a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire, same way our words can corrupt our entire body. If we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way (James 3:2)

True wisdom comes from God. If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking (James 1:5).
If we are wise and understand God’s way, we need to prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works and being humble. We can’t have the wisdom of God and be jealous and selfish because jealousy and selfishness births disorder and evil. That is not the kind of wisdom God gives to those who ask. Wisdom from above is pure, peace-loving, gentle, full of Mercy, it is sincere and willing to yield to others.

1) What do you do when you don’t get things you want?
2) What do you do when things don’t work out the way you want?
3) How do you feel when others have what you want but you can’t get it?
4)Do you ever feel like God doesn’t give you what you ask for?
5) What are your motives for asking what you want?

Some of us can kill, fight and quarrel just to get what we want. The world’s wisdom tells us to sacrifice everything to get what we want, including the welfare of others. The world will tell us to fight, to scratch, to wound, if that’s what it takes.
Why would you hurt someone else in attempting to provide what you need instead of trusting God to provide?

God wants us to bring our requests to Him with a spirit of humility and trust. He wants us to trust Him, allowing Him to give us the good He has for us as a gift and in His perfect time.

God opposes the proud but give grace to the humble (James 4:6). God opposes us in our pride when we live according to the world’s wisdom; driven by envy and selfish ambition to get what we want (James 3:15-16) but He doesn’t reject us.

We should submit to God, give up getting what we want and be willing to receive all the good He gives; surrender our battles to achieve our own desires and turn to serve others instead.

Finally, everyone wants to be exalted. We all want to be glorified (by the world); this comes in having the things we want, getting the respect we feel we deserve or living in the comfort and pleasure we crave. God asks us to quit the world’s way of pursuing those things. Instead, He calls us to trust Him to exalt us when the time is right without trying to get that glory for ourselves.
