God blessed me with a beautiful mountain buck this past Saturday morning! I got him on a WMA bonus tag hunt, I’m very happy to be canning deer meat right now! I don’t get on social media as much nowadays, but I hope everyone is having a great season!

I love mountain bucks! I took this beautiful picture of these three guys not too long ago. This is a great time of year to be out glassing fields for them in the evenings. Fall is just around the corner!

Since I posted a mountain buck bed not too long ago, here is a doe bed that I found back in April. I was back tracking deer trails and I walked up on them as they were bedded down. There are several other beds behind this one that you can't see in this photo. Does bed a little differently than the bucks do in the mountains. It's important to locate where the does bed!

Here is a mountain buck bed that I found back in April. I followed his little faint trail until I found it. You can see his hair laying in the bed. He beds away from other deer like I've seen most mature mountain bucks do. When they get about four to five and a half years of age, they aren't very social for the most part unless it's during the rut. That's something I've observed over the years from hunting and scouting them. I'll do a video soon on how reclusive mature mountain bucks really are.

There are still some mountain bucks that have yet to shed their antlers. While I was walking down a faint buck trail yesterday observing how this particular buck is traveling, I came across a rub that he had made within at least 24 hours of me finding it. I also walked up on a buck Sunday evening that had both sides of his rack. It won't be much longer and they will be loosing them!

The bears have been on the move lately, even back in February when it was colder. This bear decided he wanted to mess with my camera and try to destroy it. I got him on my browning camera that was in front of a scrape further up the mountain, I'm thankful he didn't mess with it. I can't wait for September so I can get after them with my bow!

The mountain bucks aren't ready to be done quite yet! I found this rub on Valentines Day that was fresh and I also found a rub this Wednesday that had been done within a day of me finding it. These mountain bucks will rut late into the winter.

I'm so proud of my wife! Our prayers were answered and we moved back into the North Georgia Mountains in December. We lived a little further south around central Georgia for a short time, but we are very happy to be back. We were on the road a lot going to the mountains because we love them so much. There is no telling how many miles I put on our vehicles to come hunt and scout mountain bucks! She got a job as the manager of a beautiful state park that I have grown up going to since I was a kid. I was born and raised just a few mountains over from where the park is. She is one of the hardest workers that I have ever met. I'm so thankful that God gave me her. We are very grateful that God blessed us to live here!

The brow tine buck, a mountain buck that I hunted seven years for, will be coming back home to me soon! My friend Jeff Youngblood who runs Mill Creek Taxidermy done such an awesome job on him. Mill Creek Taxidermy has mounted all of my deer since I was a kid, I don't take them anywhere else. Mill Creek Taxidermy is located in the Northeast Georgia mountains. I found this big rub from a big mountain buck back in gun season! It won't be long until he drops his antlers. I'm hoping to find them!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Thanksgiving brings back a lot of memories for me. I'll never forget many years ago back in my high school days on Thanksgiving morning, I shot this mountain buck. It was blowing snow and the wind was about 20 mph, I was absolutely desperate to get out and chase mountain bucks though. I had only missed 12 days of the season up until that day, I kept track of it. I missed that buck back in early October that year with a bow next to his bedding area. I was afraid I wouldn't get to see him again, but the good Lord gave me another chance. I also got engaged to my wonderful wife on Thanksgiving morning in 2018 while we were going after a mountain buck for her. I'm hoping she'll get a big one soon!
