In a previous post, I took you through 5 tips to help you have an eco-friendly wedding. As promised, here are the last 4 to complete the list!

6. Keep things intimate: smaller celebrations mean fewer guests to feed, less favours to buy and less transportation. If eloping has been on your mind, this may be another pro of doing so.

7. Choose a vintage theme: if you love vintage, consider making it your theme. Shop at flea markets and thrift stores to find decor as well as your attire!

8. Consider a minimalist approach: get rid of all of the things you don’t need and keep things sweet and simple. There will be less waste, less cost and an easier setup and takedown.

9. Do a charity registration: consider adding a few of your environmentally friendly charities to your wedding registration. Guests can donate money to a great cause as your gift.

Communication builds the best wedding. Do you have a funky, wild and crazy idea? Talk to your partner to make sure you’re both on the same page for your wedding day. Make it as funky or classic as the two of you desire.

While one party may do more of the planning than the other, make sure you are talking to each other so all your tears are happy ones.

One simple and elegant option for your bridesmaid’s bouquets is to stick with one type of flower or go with something like baby’s breath. It will allow you to be more extravagant with your bridal bouquet while still complimenting it nicely.

If having an eco-friendly wedding is a top priority on your list, I’ll take you through 9 ways to make this possible (the first 5 in this post)! Stay tuned for tips 6-9 in an upcoming post 😉

Look for a sustainable wedding venue: when looking for your venue, ask if they use sustainable resources and environmentally friendly practices to run their business. Solar panels, green roofs, water-conserving pumps, etc.

Be mindful when hiring vendors: caterers that use locally-sourced and sustainable farm ingredients, transportation that doesn’t burn too much fuel and more are all things that should be taken into consideration when planning.

Reduce packaging: when purchasing decorations, gifts and favours, avoid plastic and excessive packaging when you’re buying in volume.

Use what you have: Take “something old” and “something borrowed” to heart, as much as possible. Borrow what you can, create decor out of recycled items, or have your friends and family chip in with items that they no longer use.

Is a theme essential? Every wedding needs a theme to make your planning process easier.

There are 4 important elements to consider when choosing a theme… Color, Tradition, Personalization, and Social Influences.

💕 Color - or the lack thereof - makes a statement. There are many ways to use color to evoke emotion and personalize your day.

💕 Finding the Traditions which matter to you as a couple is impactful, but don’t be afraid to make a new one for yourself!

Print vs. digital wedding invitations.

There are so many options out there when it comes to inviting guests to celebrate your special day with you. On the one hand, digital is fast, relatively easy with different template options and responses come to you with the click of a button. If you’re looking to stick with tradition and create something that you can have as a keepsake down the road, print may be the way to go.

Both options have their pros and cons and there’s really no right or wrong choice.

Welcome to tip 4 on dealing with wedding conflict 👉 learn to graciously disagree 👈

Tempers can flare and wedding disagreements can create lasting scars on a relationship. When tempers flare, be ready with a kind way of disagreeing graciously. This will take some practice to give the person you love a loving-but-negative answer without placing blame: "Julie, I'm sure your shoes are close in color to your dress but they are quite different than the other bridesmaids shoes and that will be noticeable. I'd really appreciate it if my bridesmaids coordinated." That sounds a lot better than, “Julie, if you don’t buy matching shoes you’re no longer my bridesmaid or my friend!”

Some conflicts just don't make sense in the long run. If your parents are paying for the reception and they want to invite one more person, does it really matter to you? You already have enough stress in your life and butting heads on issues that have little consequence isn't worth the effort. Decide whether you need to fight to the finish or bow out graciously.
