Your body is yours and yours alone.

It's the only one you'll ever have, and you're the one who has to live with it every day.

You are the only one who has the right to decide what you do with it, how you treat it, and how you present it to the world.

Don't let anyone else's opinions or expectations hold you back from living a life aligned with your values.

Make the choices that feel right for you, and own them with confidence.

Because at the end of the day you're the one who has to take that final journey alone.

Does Counting Calories = Diet Culture?

I get why you might think this because all the experts are saying to stop counting calories because this is indicative of diet culture and therefore a “toxic” practice.

And what about someone whose life depends on counting calories like someone who needs emergency surgery but can't have it until they lose a certain amount of weight to reduce the risk of dying or someone who's malnourished and needs to hit a specific amount of calories to survive?

So counting calories is not diet culture, it's a tool that can exist both within and APART from diet culture.

And a tool can be used in various contexts for good OR bad.

A hammer can be used to build or to tear down.

And if you simply put counting calories in the “diet culture” column without appreciating context, how many people who could benefit from the tool are missing out on something that could help them live a better life?

If you simply throw away counting calories because of its reputation as being a part of “diet culture” you might miss out on the opportunity to lose weight AND feel mental peace and well-being.

What do you think about counting calories?

“Not another “stick thin” 20-something who’s never struggled with their weight telling me how to eat...”

Have you felt that way when you look for people to follow in search of something. ANYTHING that will help you to finally change your relationship to food and lose weight. . .

But when you look online, all you see is all the “Instagram Models” looking like they just got out of grammar school telling you…

“Just trust your body! Love yourself!”

Then you think….this is a baby who’s barely experienced half of what I have in life….what does she know about self love?

What has she figured out that I haven’t been able to in the last 35 years?

Look, I can’t tell you what she’s been through but I CAN tell you this…

I’ve been where YOU are.

I was over 250lbs in 2015.

I was pre-dibetic, got short of breath easily, had joint pain in my knees, hips, and ankles, and had this deep, foreboding sense that my health and weight might continue to spiral out of control.

Helpless and powerless, I started to wonder if this is all I would ever experience out of life.

Like YOU, I knew there had to be more.

And what I discovered is that even if you’ve been struggling with your weight for 30 years like I did, even if you’ve lost and regained the same 50 lbs half a dozen times…. if you have the DESIRE to be healthy and fit and live life fully, then it is POSSIBLE for you when you discover what I’ve revealed in this never been done before 3 part LIVE series.

When you register you’ll gain access to:

👉The ONE barrier in the way of lasting weight loss and how to remove it so you can lose weight AND maintain your results

👉The 3 Steps to take to have power over your eating choices no matter what food is in front of you

👉The only skill you need to master to lose weight AND feel CONFIDENT that you’ll never gain it back

If you’re the kind of person who values deep, meaningful work that transcends vanity and “looking like you have it together” then you’re going to LOVE this FREE training.

The cause of overeating is NOT always over-restriction.

And if you find that despite eating MORE than enough food, you still struggle with cravings, then this post is for you.

Because you might just be undervaluing yourself.

And when you suffer from a deficit in self-value, cravings can come up at times that you would least expect like when you're actually in a FABULOUS mood.

Why?

It's a sneaky way out brains have to keep us in our comfort zone.

Try these steps from my 4 step process shared in the Food Trigger Immunity Framework next time you catch yourself craving sugar when you're not hungry.

1. Notice food cravings or sudden feelings of sadness or anxiety when everything is going well.

2. Sit with the POSITIVE feelings and see how long you can tolerate them.

3. The longer you tolerate the positive emotions, the more you build your capacity to RECEIVE good things-including meeting your weightloss goals.

Some days you might truly be ravenous....and others you might not need as much food.

But when you regularly experience a primal urge to keep eating past the point of pain🤮🤰🏽, it can hijack your recognition of those natural and normal fluctuations of your hunger.

Which means that instead of your caloric intake balancing itself out over time, your calories wind up in a surplus leading to weight gain.

The good news is that the primal urge mentioned above 👆doesn't automatically have to mean overeating.

In fact, the very same urge that causes you to overeat can be used to your ADVANTAGE, when you understand the 3 Pillars of Food Trigger Immunity.

When you have the internal strength to make empowering food decisions no matter what food is in front of you, THAT'S when you can sustainably lose weight without the fear of gaining it back.

Start here 👇

Next time you feel a craving:

👉Stop resisting it and start to allow it
👉Then notice how you feel

That second part is 🗝️

Because when you start to make the connection between this feeling and allowing a craving to pass, you begin to unclock the power of your brain to Rewire itself to accomplish your weight-loss goals.

The doors to Eat With Balance where I share my COMPLETE process for leveraging your 🧠 to make cravings work for you to reach your desired healthy weight without deprivation opens soon.

Struggling with night time cravings?

Here's how to be more self-disciplined without feeling like you're missing out and restricted.

If you're struggling with overeating you may have thought you need more discipline but as as soon as you start trying to stick to your resolve you find yourself feeling deprived, having cravings and before you know it saying, what the hell.” And slipping back into old habits.

This is extremely common. I've experienced this and so have my students.

The biggest mistake Aware Food prisoners make when trying to stop overeating is thinking about “discipline” in a disempowering way.

If you want to have more discipline, you need to Rewire your relationship TO discipline.

All Fit, Self-Disciplined women know that in order to have discipline they must BE disciplined in their self image FIRST

When you first change your relationship to discipline to a positive association and shift your self image to align with that, self discipline is something you happily embody effortlessly.

Start by redefining discipline for yourself. If you were already a Fit, Self-Disciplined woman who felt a sense of inner strength, peace and freedom with food, how would you be, think, act and FEEL?

Ready for 1:1 support to become a Fit, Self-Disciplined woman who has confidence in her ability to choose how she behaves? Drop a 💪🏽 Below or DMs and I'll send you the details.

This very common advice might be keeping you stuck in binge eating.

Have you ever tried to make a healthy swap to help your cravings but it failed you? You’re not alone.

For many women who struggle with emotional eating, things like making healthy swaps and avoiding food triggers work … until it doesn’t.

So what’s the alternative? That’s what you’ll discover when you tune in to today’s episode of The Ending Your Binge Eating Podcast. Listen now on your favorite podcast player.

So.....this is happening in just a little over a month. Eeeeeeeee!

It's been a life long dream of mine to be a published author.

Since I was little, I was put my thoughts into words on paper...writing poems, little stories, song lyrics, journaling.

Heck, when I was teacher, I even wrote "memos" to the staff. 😂😂😂

Bottom line, writing is the thing I can't not do.

And now, I get to bring two huge pieces of my life's purpose together:

👉sharing the lessons I've learned through the written word and,
👉helping women to truly and deeply love and accepts themselves and their bodies through overcoming emotional eating.

🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 (musician friends will know😉

I'm so excited to announce that I'm a contributing author for Finding the Light Within! 🥳🎊🎉🍾

The book drops in November.

I can't wait for you to read these amazing stories. 🙏❤️

I’d rather eat something I’m craving and learn from it than keep trying to find a replacement for a craving. Why? Because if I’m learning from a behavior I can eventually change it. The longer I try to avoid something, the longer I delay my learning and growth. But that’s just me. What do you think?

Stop fixing your food and start fixing your self image.

You want to stop overeating, release weight without gaining it back and feel peace and freedom with food?

Then STOP 🛑 focussing on "fixing" your food.

Instead, start reprogramming your identity as an eater.

Why?

Because the way you see yourself is how you treat yourself.

And we will always treat ourselves the way we believe we deserve to be treated.

Kale 🥬 in One hand and cookies 🍪 in the other?

Sound familiar?

You just ate a healthy, balanced dinner.

Then the cookies in the pantry call your name.

You: “I just ate. I’m not hungry.”

30 minutes later you’re through your first sleeve of oreos.

You might be thinking you just need “more willpower.”

I get this. I thought the same thing once.

As you read, you’ll discover the exact fallacies underlying this myth that kept me stuck in emotional eating that may be trapping you too.

Mistake #1 Telling yourself not to give in to a craving.

Hahah…I know that sounds ridiculous.

You may or may not know that when you say….

“I just ate.”
“I’m not hungry.”
“I’m not giving in.” etc.

…when a craving hits, you’re using your pre-frontal cortex. This is the EXACT part of your brain that goes offline when a craving hits. Gasp.

It's a bitch, I know.

Mistake #2 Avoidance

When you’re trying to rationalize your way out of a craving, not only are you deploying the wrong part of your brain for this mission, but it also allows you to AVOID the exact thing you need to DO to break this pattern which is to EXPERIENCE the craving.

Mistake #3 Resistance

When you are saying, “no, I’m not hungry, I’m not giving in….what you’re REALLY saying is that you’re WRONG for having a craving.

You’re sending a message that this urge doesn’t belong and so you’re trying to wriggle your way out of it.

But what you resist persists.

You already know that craving is coming right back around the 🏔 to bite you in the butt again, right?

So what should you do instead?

Instead of trying to think your way out of the craving, ALLOW the craving and FULLY experience it.

This way you

👉 Rewire how you respond to cravings

👉 Associate greater pleasure with saying “no” than to giving in

👉 work WITH your brain instead of against it. So it feels effortless 😌

The best part is it you think LESS about food which means you can spend more time on the things that matter to you.

Want to break your sugar addiction while feeling more freedom and enjoying your food more?

Message “MORE” and I’ll send you all the exciting details.

08/06/2022

A reason assessment of my hair style by my hubby as “designed messiness” really got me thinking about perception in general.

In the recovery community, there's a concept called "image management" (trying to appear favorable to others)

The problem with image management is that you never truly know what others perceive of you nor can you meet the expectations of all 6 billion people on this spinning rock.

Ever started to post a selfie and then immediately delete it? 🙋🏾‍♀️

Image management.

Speak your truth and immediately back peddle when you see the confused expression on your partners face? 🙋🏻‍♀️

Image management.

And when you've recovered from OVER-ing something whether that's food, alcohol, s*x, sugar, or Social media-imagine management can easily escalate from not posting your pic because you think you look "fat" to having a few cookies to get yourself through the discomfort.

The insidious part is it's very easy to justify one or two cookies here or there when you USED to eat an entire box.

Well...there's a word for that.

Stagnation.

That's the secret fear that arises each time you start making things happen and moving toward your dreams only to be hit with that old familiar tug of doubt....

😰"I'll look stupid."
😨"I'm not thin enough yet."
😰"I don't have enough credentials."
😰"Who am I to do that when I'm still struggling..."

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. 👥

It's totally normal to go through periods of relapse when you're starting to stretch yourself out of your comfort zone.

AND you're worthy of being fully supported as you navigate the discomfort and uncertainty you feel WHILE moving forward. ❤️

If you've done the work to recover from addictive behaviors or disordered eating and are now putting yourself out there to

✨ start a business
✨ create your art,
✨ start dating again
✨ stop losing and regaining that same 10 pounds...

And you're ready for support to stop running back to the safety of your comfort zone and live in your growth zone, drop "GROWTH ZONE" below or DM me now and we'll chat about how you can become comfortable in discomfort and get to your next level of success.

01/06/2022

I'm on social media for 3 reasons:

1. Is to engage with folks I don't see on a regular basis in real life
2. To make myself visible to people I may be able to help
3. To avoid discomfort

Yes, that's right.

Lately, I've been putting myself out there much more boldly and frequently in both my professional and personal life than I ever have before.

I had a moment yesterday when I found myself scrolling a little too much.

But I caught it.

I had compassion for myself and recognized that I'm human and I'm doing some incredibly challenging things that few people will ever attempt.

If you're one of the few, I see you.

And if you're reading this post, here's a few things I learned recently in stretching myself outside of my comfort zone.

👉 When you're stepping outside of your comfort zone, it doesn't feel good.

This means you're moving in the RIGHT direction.

Encourage yourself by saying, "this discomfort is my sign to keep going."

👉 When after a brave step, you start feeling uncomfortable, your brain will make up reasons "why."

It will start to say things like, "this isn't right" "this doesn't work for me" "maybe that was wrong." "Maybe I should just take ______ back." "Maybe I'm too_____. Maybe im not ______ (enough)

Do NOT listen.

This is all BS stuff your brain is saying to keep you in the old, familiar place.

👉 People WILL judge you

This one has been one of the most challenging things to accept. In fact, fear of judgement drove the first 35 years of my life.

I was so fearful of hurting others feelings, not doing the "right" thing, or being rejected that I spent the majority of my time NOT being who I wanted to be. The irony.

Until I realized that that is an entirely fruitless and wasteful way of living.

The sooner we can accept the judgements of others (without endorsing them, dodging or being absorbed by them) the sooner we can create our most integral, bold, and powerful lives.

And if you happen to spend a little too much time on social media one day? Have some compassion for yourself. You're doing BIG things. ❤️
