One thing all the high performers I’ve met have in common is the ability to handle pressure.

People talk about this a lot, but they rarely explain it beyond saying,

“You need to be able to handle pressure.”

With social media, the pressure comes from having to perform daily.

If you post a video that goes viral today, that’s great, but the rent is due again tomorrow.

A brand isn’t built from one viral hit.

It can serve as a boost, but the real gains come from daily output.

Not just going through the motions, but continuously raising the bar, putting out better and better work.

Anyone can do it for a day.

Some people can do it for a few weeks.

But only rare individuals can perform day after day for months on end.

Those people are winners.

It’s actually quite simple: Inputs = outputs. More inputs = more outputs.

If you struggle with this, you’re probably letting your emotions get the best of you.

You want to post content every single day, but you also don’t want to post a video that flops.

And you don’t want to look silly. And you’re worried someone from your high school might see it.

You have all this fear and anxiety swimming around in your mind.

Getting past new revenue levels in business is the same as beating a difficult level on a video game.

You’ve played it 20 times...

You know all the jumps, moves, and “surprises” on the level, but you haven’t been able to bring it all together into one perfect run yet.

You’ve come close.

Just not close enough.

So you play it for the 21st 22nd 23rd time and finally you WIN.

Finally you hit the £5k/mo, £10k/mo etc.

But by that point it’s not even exciting.

You already knew every jump and move on that level

You’ve come so close to beating it so many times that mentally it was already done.

In your head, you completed it 5 tries ago.

So when the result comes, it doesn’t feel like you “won”...

It’s more like relief.

Like reality has FINALLY caught up with where you’ve been living for weeks/months.

Income milestones are the same, you need to take the required actions over & over again like spamming a button on your remote until they become AUTOMATIC.

You won’t pass this level until you can do all the “moves” with your eyes closed.

And if by some fluke you manage to get it WITHOUT developing the base skill/understanding, you’re screwed for the next level.

Because every level requires NEW skills, understanding & competence…

All of which demand mental bandwidth to acquire.

And if you’re still trying to develop the skill from the level before..

You’re going to be a mess, all over the place, and you’ll probably fall back down to where you should be.

So here’s the important reframe;

If you’re trying to “beat” your current level but you keep getting shot down and missing the target, to the point it’s getting boring… GOOD.

It means you’re building the base of competence & confidence required to stay above your target once you hit it, and make a run for the level above that.

This is why it actually matters how you earn your money imo.

One of the biggest benefits of making a 5 figure month is having 6 figure a month confidence.

But that confidence doesn’t come from the number, it comes from all the s**t you had to go through to get to the number.

Big difference. 💯

Think about the last time you got excited about a new piece of information.

It’s not a trick question.

Could’ve been reading a book, scrolling IG, finding a YouTube video, etc.

Whatever medium, I GUARANTEE there’s been a moment when you discovered a “new piece of the puzzle” and were filled with excitement

All you wanted to do was put it into action and test it immediately..

You started dreaming of finally getting the result you’ve been chasing for so long.

Imagining the status you’ll get when you share this rare & hidden gem with OTHER people.

It’s a pretty sweet feeling…

And for the most part, that feeling is justified.

In any given field, there are GEMS of information like what I just described that profoundly alter how you go about accomplishing a certain aim.

And guess what…

They make everyone else feel EXACTLY how they make you feel.

Excited, hopeful, FIRED UP.

Like a drug, people get hooked on them…

And anyone who deals them out like a white guy with dreadlocks at a reggae festival will have people flocking to their social media in droves.

My advice: BE THAT GUY.

F**k giving information.

Value is determined by scarcity.

And in the age of UNLIMITED information, its worth has drastically diminished.

To win today, you must become a dealer of profound insights.

Insights are the hidden truths in any given field that can only be found through obsessive digging and sharp perceptivity.

“But I don’t have any insights”

Then get digging

If you’ve been giving out tons of “how to” information but making little progress towards a larger following or heavier cash flow… this is likely why.

You don’t have to take my word for all of this.

Test it out for yourself.

Switch from posting primarily “how to” information to posting a mix of ENTERTAINMENT, INSPIRATION, and PROFOUND INSIGHTS.

(bonus points if you hit them all in a single piece of content)

Very few people understand this concept…

Which means that anyone who applies it right now will immediately stand out among their peer group.

There’s a 100% chance you’re not bullish enough on social media attention.

Like I don’t think you actually realize how EARLY we still are to the game of social media, creating content, and growing an audience.

Especially if you’re a service based or brick and mortar business

Think about this:

We currently live in a time where over HALF of the population grew up without social media.

Yeah, maybe they’ve adopted it… kind of.

But it’ll NEVER be a part of their lives in the same way it is for a Gen Z zoomer who was doomscrolling TikTok before they finished breastfeeding.

For the generation that grew up with social media, it’s EVERYTHING.

Now imagine what the world will be like when those people are the majority.

Yeah.

It’s gonna get CRAZY.

And the people who will win big are the people who see the writing on the wall right now and take bold action to secure their slice of the pie.

I don’t think it’s ever gonna be “too late”.

That’s like someone in 1999 saying it’s gonna be “too late” to get rich from tech companies after 2000.

Absolutely false.

That being said, life is a game of allocating scarce resources in the most effective way possible.

And if you’re like most people in business, you have a ton of things you wanna accomplish in life.

Positioning yourself NOW to capture the incoming tsunami of social media attention means getting in while it’s cheap (less time/energy/attention required to succeed).

The faster you position yourself…

And the less resources it takes to do so…

The more you’ll be able to achieve long-term.

That’s how I think about it.

Minimum cost, maximum RESULTS.

Some days you get showered in more cash than a Miami stripper, then maybe you go weeks or even MONTHS without making a single penny.

This cycle of “feast & famine” is a major source of anxiety for a lot of business owners…

When I first got into football, all I wanted to do was watch Everton and bang them in like Duncan Ferguson.

If you’re working hard trying to build your social media & make money but the results simply aren’t coming…

Firstly, I get it.

The wiring in our brains that makes us go out & put effort into things is the same wiring that makes us feel like s**t when that effort doesn’t produce anything tangible.

You diet & workout for weeks, but your physique still looks the same…

You create 5 pieces of content every day for months but your following barely grows…

You DM 100 potential clients with an offer but they ALL shoot you down.

You’re putting in effort…

But what you get in return is nothing except the feeling that you’ve just wasted a whole lotta time.

March is almost over which means we’re already a quarter of the way through 2024…

And I guarantee you’re not operating with the same level of intensity you started the year with.

Believe me, i’ve had a couple of extremely painful setbacks in the last couple of months and each of them slowed me down.

I know how it feels to lose momentum.

But think about this:

The reason why everyone makes big changes in the new year is because it’s a natural checkpoint.

It only comes around once a year and it’s the start of something new, so it forces people to take stock of where they are in life

This inevitably leads to a higher level of action as they realize they’re not where they want to be.

But you don’t need a NATURAL checkpoint to re-evaluate where you are and how you’re doing.

You can take stock of your life RIGHT NOW.

Look at the number in your bank account.

Look at the number in of high quality clients you work with.

Look at your happiness inside out.

Look at your physique in the mirror.

Look at how your family are living.

And if ANY of it doesn’t match up to your highest ambition, then f*cking do something about it.

The core value in any piece of content is the FEELING it elicits in the consumer.

That one sentence is the key to winning social media.

And if you’ve ever wondered why entertainers get more attention than any other type of content, now you know why.

They’re master drug dealers of “feel good” emotions…

Which are by far the most popular emotions on the spectrum.

This applies to all types of content.

You might think that the value in giving out “how to” information is the information itself…

It’s not.

The most valuable “how to” information is that which elicits emotions of HOPE and EXCITEMENT having sparked an idea in the audience’s mind or given them a fresh perspective on how to get something they want.

The value is in the emotion it generates, not the information itself.

Hopefully this is a lightbulb moment for you.

It should be…

Because once you internalize this principle, you start thinking about your content & brand in terms of “how do I want people to FEEL after consuming this?”

Apply this to a single video or post and it can change everything for you…

But the real value is in how it transforms your brand over time.

Pain avoidance is the most powerful driver of human behavior.

I didn’t make that up, there’s plenty of evidence to support that statement which you’re welcome to research at your leisure.

Not right now though…

Right now you need to read this post because it could change your life forever.

Here’s the first “aha” moment:

You won’t change until your current situation is more painful than the action which will get you out of it.

(you know, the making the social media video 👀)

Here’s the second:

Pain is relative and largely based on perception.

What i mean is that at any given moment, you can reframe your current situation to feel more painful and reframe the action you need to take to make it less painful…

Thereby skewing the balance in a way that makes being productive easy.

E.g. Your current situation might not feel painful because relative to everyone around you, you’re doing “okay”.

But the moment you get around people doing much better that you, you’ll suddenly realize how far you still have to go.

BOOM.

Your current situation is now infinitely more painful.

Now, in terms of the action you need to take, people often make their tasks out to be more difficult than they are

The likelihood is your dopamine is just fried from social media and stimulants to the point where “boring” work feels excruciatingly painful.

Fix your dopamine circuits and the work will feel 10x easier.

By playing around with these 2 variables, you’ve just made it a MILLION times easier to take the action required to hit your goals.

You’re essentially leveraging pain to create profit…

Which is pretty sweet if you think about it.

And btw, this same exact mechanism applies to everyone you’re trying to sell to.

Use it on yourself, then extrapolate it to your marketing.

Ideas are great, but an idea alone won’t capture the attention of a casual viewer.

With the near-unlimited options for content to consume in 2024, you have to grab their lizard brain by the balls and FORCE it to submit.

(In the case of content, submission = sticking around to read/watch)

There’s an easy way to do this…

And once you’ve mastered it, you’ll not only be able to capture the attention of more people…

You’ll also enjoy making content more,

The piece you’re missing is an ANGLE.

Idea + Angle = Attention.

Think of the idea like a seed and the angle as the water required to sprout the seed. The seed is necessary and important, but without the water, it will never grow into a plant.

With content, the ANGLE is how you frame the idea.

Example:

Idea = How to get in shape

Angle = How to go from looking like a wet sack of oatmeal to looking like a statue of chiseled marble

“How to get in shape” doesn’t tickle the brain.

It’s boring, we’ve all seen it before, and there’s no NOVELTY factor.

(If there’s one thing the lizard brain loves more than anything else, it’s novelty)

The angle adds the creative flair that makes the idea come ALIVE…

And by doing so, you make it infinitely more exciting and appealing to a casual viewer doom-scrolling the algorithm.

To find your winning angle, here are a couple of “specific” triggers you can use for your ideas:

Make it visceral

Visceral = based on emotional reactions rather than reason or intellectual thought.

Bring out the emotion of the idea by painting a picture, using hyperbolic/colorful language, using metaphors and comparisons.

Bring out the bizarre

Find the obscure detail in whatever you’re talking about and bring it to the forefront.

Ever seen a supplement marketed as a “3000-year-old ancient herb” used by some tribe in the middle of nowhere?

They’re emphasizing obscure details to make it NEW and interesting.

Find that thing within your idea and lean into it,

NOTE: You don’t have to pick between these two triggers to create your winning angle

Use them BOTH to craft a hook that is so enticing a casual viewer couldn’t keep scrolling even if they wanted to

If creating content feels hard, you’re not spending enough time on ideation.

And if ideation feels hard, you’re not spending enough time on yourself.

The person who lives in a constant state of ACTION is never short on ideas.

Great insights and profound realizations are airdropped to them in higher quantities than they know what to do with.

It’s a fundamental law of the universe:

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

That’s what Alex Hormozi means when he says "The work works on you more than you work on it"...

And I agree.

But I’d rephrase it to "The work works on you to the extent that you work on it".

The reaction is EQUAL and OPPOSITE.

The more you DO, the more you get back.

How often have you played chicken with the blinking cursor on a blank Google doc?

Only to reach a stalemate where neither one of you is winning.

The magic you’re looking for is in the action you’re avoiding.

Working, learning, training, executing, thinking.

Hit all 5 of these every day and you’ll be FORCED to open up a Notion Spreadsheet to manage the overflow of ideas brimming in your mind.

Bonus points if you’re hitting them across a wide variety of topics.

Not just your "main thing"...

But also your hobbies, interests, and other skills.

There’s nothing your brain loves more than to connect dots across random and seemingly unrelated pieces of information.

Start FEEDING it, and watch as that mechanism grows stronger.

So if you’re in sore need of ideas for your content… my advice is to stop TRYING to come up with ideas.

Focus your sights on ACTION.

And let the ideas come to you.

Your 2024 goals are useless if you don’t have a PRECISE plan for how you’re going to make them a reality.

I’m sure you’d love to have a record income month in January…

But what’s your plan?

How are you going to do it?

What needs to happen for it to become a reality?

In my mind, this all comes down to knowing your numbers.

For example:

Based on data from the last year (hint), I know that for every X DM conversations, I can book Y sales calls.

And I know that out of every X sales calls, I’ll close Y people.

So if I’m setting a goal for January, I’m picking a revenue number that’s both ambitious and possible…

And then I’m IMMEDIATELY breaking it down into actionables & key success factors.

(Note: This entire process will be a lot easier if you’ve been tracking your numbers in 2023. If not, estimate based on what you can remember & take this as a sign to start tracking data in 2024)

>> Actionables = individual tasks/things that need to be accomplished

>> Key success factors = habits/actions that give me the highest likelihood of success both in terms of personal consistency & quality of output

So let’s say I pick a revenue number, and to hit that revenue number I need to generate roughly 1000 leads (conversations).

To make that happen, here are my actionables:

• 1-2 lead magnets a week

• 6x stories daily

• 5-10x threads a week

• Daily short-form videos

• Daily new value to my audience

I know that if I do all of those things, there’s a high probability of hitting my goal.

With one caveat:

The actionables only cover the quantitative aspect of hitting my goals.

I could release a daily lead magnet but if the hook sucks and it’s a garbage piece of value, it’s not gonna do anything for my bottom line.

This is where key success factors come in.

E.g.

>> Deep work sessions

>> Focus

>> Research

>> Time spent on individual assets

>> Amount of effort put into every piece of content

>> Nutrition & training (energy levels & clarity)

>> No booze

Etc etc

All of these things affect the QUALITY of the actionable items I need to create to achieve my goal

And now we have both pieces of the puzzle.

DO THIS NOW: Don’t click off this and read something completely different, take this opportunity to create an exact plan for what you need to do to hit your income goal in January and beyond

Break it down into exact numbers:

- Income goal

- Number of sales calls you need to book

- Number of leads you need to generate

- How you’re going to generate those leads with measurable inputs

- Key success factors (behaviors/habits) you’re going to implement/maintain to maximize the quality of those deliverables

Anyone who doesn’t do this or thinks it’s a waste of time is an amateur in my book.

Professionals are precise.

Professionals have a plan.

And most importantly - professionals do the work once the excitement has died down.
