Criminal conspiracy

RALPHO TOWNSHIP — Patrolman Matthew Filarski charged Toni Swigart, 31, of 1425 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, with misdemeanor criminal conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property for allegedly conspiring with Gregory Adams, 56, of 717 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, to steal four plastic pallets from the Paxinos Beer Shoppe between 8:15 p.m. Aug. 27 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 28.

According to the criminal complaint, security footage captured a vehicle belonging to Swigart entering a storage facility. Adams then exits the vehicle, walks to the front of the beer business and takes the pallets.

During an interview on Aug. 29, Swigart admitted to being the driver when the pallets were stolen.

Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL — Patrolman Evan Freiler charged Earl Adams, 35, of 118 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel, with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance for allegedly having 1.9 grams of methamphetamine, smoking pipes and a digital scale at the residence on Sept. 10, according to the criminal complaint.

Drug charges

RALPHO TOWNSHIP — Trooper Austin Bennett charged Christina Fletcher, 32, of Rochester, New York, with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and possession of ma*****na as the result of a traffic stop on Wednesday.

According to the criminal complaint, Fletcher said she was traveling to FCI-Schuylkill to visit an inmate. During a search of the vehicle, the trooper located 94 THC vapes individually packed in bags.

Resisting arrest

MOUNT CARMEL — Patrolman David Bucher charged Edwin Collazo, 41, of 309 S. Banana St., Mount Carmel, with misdemeanor resisting arrest, obstructing law enforcement and disorderly conduct, and summary public drunkenness stemming from an incident near South Banana and Sixth streets on Sept. 26.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the area for an intoxicated male, possibly armed, stating he will shoot.

The officer observed a male, later identified as Collazo, matching the description given and ordered him to the ground. The defendant refused the command. The officer then used force to take the defendant into custody.

The reporting parties said they got into an argument with Collazo, adding that the defendant raised his fists and pulled his shirt to indicate he was armed.

The officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the defendant, who refused to identify himself.

DUI

EAST BUFFALO TOWNSHIP — Charges of driving under the influence, prohibited acts (two counts) and restrictions on alcoholic beverages have been filed against Christina Dibartolomeo, 33, of West Market Street, Lewisburg.

The charges were filed by Buffalo Valley Regional Police Officer Cole Wirt after a vehicle operated by Dibartolomeo was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint at 11:15 p.m. Aug. 29 in the 2800 block of Old Turnpike Road, East Buffalo Township, Union County.

Dibartolomeo was found in possession of suspected ma*****na and a grinder. She allegedly exhibited signs of impairment and refused blood chemical testing.

Theft

UNION TOWNSHIP — Dale Hart, 64, of Spruce Street, Lykens, has been charged by Trooper Jacob Horan with two counts of theft and criminal trespass following an alleged incident that occurred at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 on Riverbreeze Avenue, Union Township, Union County.

Hart was allegedly caught on video surveillance footage removing railroad joint bars and tie plates from along North Shore Railroad tracks. The stolen items were valued at $2,280.

Two-vehicle crash

ZERBE TOWNSHIP — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Trooper Anthony Lorenc investigated a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 225 and Fifth Street at 9:37 a.m. Friday.

According to a public information release, vehicles involved were a GMC Acadia, driven by Dolly Straight, 72, of Shamokin, and a Chevrolet Blazer, driven by Paul Lubold, 58, of Dalmatia.

Neither driver was injured, according to Lorenc.

The cause of the crash was not released.

Two-vehicle crash

MAYBERRY TOWNSHIP — No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash on Route 54 at High Road at 9:01 a.m. Sept. 4.

According to a public information release, a Ford Maverick, driven by Reginald Wills, 32, of Camp Hill, Ohio, was moving south on Route 54 when it struck the back of a Subaru Impreza, driven by Jessica Roberts, 50, of Milton, that was slowing to turn left onto High Road.

The Ford had minor damage and was driven from the scene while the Subaru had disabling damage.

DUI

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP — PSP Trooper Anthony Lorenc reported in a public information release that Jesse Brown, 37, of Trevorton, was arrested for suspicion of DUI as the result of a traffic stop on Route 890 at 8:22 a.m. Aug. 29.

Driver to be charged

ZERBE TOWNSHIP — PSP Trooper Robert Hendrickson reported in a public information release that Alex Leitzel, 37, of Wiconisco, will be charged for allegedly leaving the scene of a motor-vehicle crash on Route 225, west of Trevorton, at 12:42 a.m. Sept. 2.

Hendrickson said Leitzel was operating a Chrysler 300 west when the vehicle crossed the opposing lane, then left the road and struck a utility pole. The vehicle reentered the road and traveled across both lanes of travel before coming to a rest against an embankment.

Three-vehicle wreck

KULPMONT — PSP Trooper Jason Kelley investigated a crash involving three vehicles on Route 61, west of Ninth Street, at 7:23 a.m. Aug. 31.

Kelley said a Saturn Vue, operated by Carol Whary, 73, of Kulpmont, was moving south when it struck an unoccupied Chevrolet Equinox, owned by Rudy Rodriguez Jaime, 42, of Mount Carmel, that was stopped on the shoulder.

The Saturn then crossed the opposing lane of travel and struck an unoccupied Ford Ta**us, owned by Michael Collantes, 53, of Kulpmont.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP — Taner Lee Yoder, 25, of 3357 state Route 61, Sunbury, faces charges of first-degree felony and second-degree misdemeanor simple assault, along with summary harassment after an incident Sept. 4.

Yoder was charged by Trooper Anthony Leronc, of Pennsylvania State Police, Stonington barracks, after he struck Jamie Kopitsky with a glass mug, cane and his fists, the criminal complaint said.

He was arraigned at 12:45 p.m. Monday by Magisterial District Judge William Zalinski and committed to Northumberland County Jail in lieu of $7,500 straight bail. Yoder’s hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 16.
