What is the Gospel? How do you think of/define the gospel? I lean towards liberation ideas and think the Gospel brings us into greater love, understanding, and community.

Not gonna lie, I’m like 4 days behind on the reading plan now. I just ran across this verse in Matthew 19 and wanted to get everyone’s feedback. The context of the earlier verses is the rich man who, after already having kept the commandments, Jesus told to sell all his possessions and give the money to the poor. Camels and eyes of needles and all that.

What I read is that even the best efforts of man will fall short of getting us into the kingdom of heaven. Also, the rich man’s question about being good enough to get into the Kingdom is the wrong one to ask, because there is only one who is good and that person is immortal, not human. We need the work of God in our life to truly be good like Jesus was.

What are your thoughts?
