Got a little activity in the Gulf of America, going on as of late.

Invest 93L moved across the Northern Florida Peninsula and into the Gulf, earlier today. It has started generating a little bit of “spinnage,” on the radar; and while the NHS has elevated it to a 40% chance of development over the next 48 hours, none of the forecast models are showing anything more than a tropical depression, if that.

Regardless, it is expected to bring a lot of rainfall to the Northern Gulf Coast over the next several days. The beach might be a little soggy this weekend…

Tropical Storm Chantal formed off the Atlantic Coast earlier this morning. This is the remnants of the disturbance that had a possibility of forming in the Gulf last weekend.
Chantal currently has sustained winds of 40mph and is moving North at snail’s pace of only 2mph. She’s not expected to gain much more strength, and is expected to remain a tropical storm until landfall, at or near Myrtle Beach. Residents in the area can expect substantial rainfall.

FINALLY!! We have some activity on the Atlantic side of the world!! Meanwhile, the Pacific side Is churning out tropical storms, left and right.

Tropical Storm Barry has formed in the Gulf of America, this morning, down around rhe West side of the Bay of Campeche. Nothing to worry about, though, as it will be deported to Mexico by the end of the day, today—sans due process, no less.

Also, there is an area of interest in the Northern Gulf of America. This is the remnants of a weaker cold front. Again, likely nothing to worry about, as it only has a 20% of development over the next 7 days. However, out of an abundance of caution, I’ll keep an eye on it. Forecast models aren’t showing any development…

Nothing like getting started on Day 1, right?!

GFS is showing a moderate Category 2 making landfall at or near Mobile Bay on Friday, June 13. Still 12 days out, so this thing will likely change—it may go somewhere else; it may fizzle out to nothing; or…it may hold what it’s got. Will definitely be keeping an eye on it, as well as on the other models to see if they pick up on it within their respective forecast ranges.

If this storm comes to fruition, we’ll be looking at Andrea!
