2023 ELECTION IS VERY CRITICAL, ORTOM TELLS ENUGU PEOPLE

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has told the people of Enugu State that the 2023 elections was very critical to the survival of the country and must be taken seriously.

He then expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will retain Enugu State in the forthcoming general elections.

Governor Ortom spoke Friday, January 27th, 2023 when he and other Governors of the influential G-5 joined their Enugu State colleague, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to flag-off the PDP campaigns in the state.

"We have come, we have seen and we have heard and we are going with the impression and believe that Enugu State is PDP from the gubernatorial, senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections," because as he puts it, "this election is very critical."

He thanked the people of the State for the support and commitment they have given to Governor Ugwuanyi and urged them to sustain the tempo even beyond the forthcoming polls.

The Governor who was yesterday conferred with the chieftaincy title of 'Ocheoha' meaning the "Protector of the People" by the Enugu Council of traditional rulers led by the Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Igwe Amb. Lawrence Agubuzu, declare that "as the 'Ocheoha' of Enugu State, PDP will win in Enugu State."

Governor Ortom on behalf of Government and people of Benue State expressed appreciation to the people of Enugu State for the warm hospitality accorded the visiting G-5 members, urging them to sustain their support for Governor Ugwuanyi who he described as "a good man."

PDP TO INAUGURATE CAMPAIGN STRUCTURES IN BENUE ON MONDAY

Benue State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will formally inaugurate its campaign structures at the state level comprising the State Campaign Council and the State Campaign Management Committee, on Monday, 31st October, 2022 at the party's State Secretariat in Makurdi.

A 168 member State Campaign Council will be inaugurated with His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom as Chairman, Governorship Candidate of the party in the 2023 elections, Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba, as Vice Chairman, and State Secretary of the party, Dr. Joseph Nyame as Secretary.

Acting State Chairman of the party, Hon. Isaac Mffo Deputy Governor of the State, Engr. Benson Abounu, Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party in the 2023 elections, Sir John Ngbede, serving members of the National and State Assembly as well as 2023 candidates of the party at both legislative levels will serve as members on the Council.

Also on the Council as members are Board of Trustees members of our great party, Senator David Alechenu Mark, Chief Mrs. Margaret Icheen and Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Geoffrey Ejiga, serving and former members of the National Executive Committee of the party, its State Youth Leader and State Woman Leader as well as selected critical stakeholders.

The State Campaign Management Committee which is a 16 member body will be inaugurated with Dr. Tyokyaa Cletus as Director, Hon. Ediga Akpa as Secretary, with Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) The man that supplies her the s***f Mr Victor Olatundun started developing interest in the beautiful Juliet who is married. He told her he likes her. She however told him she's married but he persisted telling her they could be secret lovers. After six months, she accepted his offer of relationship and they started dating secretly.

On July 25, Igbokwe as usual travelled to Onitsha to buy his electronics.

He was however disappointed to note that there was no goods on ground. Instead of the normal four days he usually spends, he decided to go back home on the 27th of July instead of the 29th. He was therefore surprised, perplexed, stunned, flabbergasted to get to his house and met Victor Olatundun on his matrimonial bed having carnal knowledge of his wife Juliet.

A fight ensued and Igbokwe rushed to the toilet and picked up his matchete. He charged at Victor the secret lover striking him in both his hands and neck. It was a deep cut that left Victor bleeding profusely. The sight was gory. Igbokwe tried rushing him to the hospital to save his life using his car. The car however stopped on the way .Victor died in the car.

The police have arrested both Igbokwe and his wife.

GEMADE WARNS BENUE APC:

GO AHEAD WITH DIRECT PRIMARIES AND RISK NOT PRODUCING CANDIDATES FOR 2023 ELECTIONS

Governorship aspirant on the platform of the APC in Benue State, Engr. Barnabas Gemade, has warned that his party risks not producing candidates for the 2023 general elections should it adopt the Direct Primaries mode of election for nominating candidates.

Gemade, speaking at a parley with members of the State Primaries Committee of the party sent to the state, stated that the Direct Primaries mode is mo longer available in the laws of Nigeria as such not available for use anywhere in the country at the moment.

He stressed that anyone who despite this well known fact goes ahead to use the Direct mode of primaries is not only doing a disservice to APC but at the same time destroying all the efforts and sacrifices made by members of the party to build it.

The former Minister, PDP National Chairman and two term Senator referred to the case of Zamfara State where adoption of wrong procedure for nomination of candidates resulted in APC being disqualified from fielding candidates to the 2019 elections.

He further lamented that it is quite strange for the Direct Primaries mode to be introduced for Benue State only today when members of the party were expecting to participate in the primaries slated for today and in line with already laid down guidelines for Indirect Primaries.

Engr. Gemade strongly warned that going ahead with the Direct mode of primaries in Benue will be a violation of the Electoral Act and as well INEC Guidelines for the conduct of the 2023 elections in the country.

Senator Abba Moro Congratulates Winners of PDP Primary Election, Says He's Also Hopeful Of Winning

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, congratulates winners of PDP primary elections that have held across Benue South Senatorial District and Benue State at large in the last 24 hours.

The primary elections for the nomination of the party's flag bearers for the House of Assembly and House of Representatives seats commenced on Sunday and have produced winners.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has again expressed optimism that Nigerians would prefer to vote-in a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as the country's next president in 2023.

The Governor spoke Thursday, May 19th, 2022 when he received the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and PDP Presidential aspirant, Emmanuel Udom who paid him a courtesy visit at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.

According to Governor Ortom, the quality of presidential aspirants on the PDP platform were all experienced and capable of rescuing the nation from the maladministration of the APC whom he noted, had taken Nigeria from top to bottom.

He expressed confidence in the capacity of Governor Udom to lead Nigeria to greatness if given the mandate, stressing that the country was in a mess and needed to be rescued.

The Governor appreciated Governor Udom for standing with Benue State in its trying moments, particularly the previous support given to the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in the State as a result of herdsmen attacks.

While praying for the success of Udom's aspiration, Governor Ortom encouraged him to trust God who is the only one that gives leadership.

Earlier, the PDP presidential aspirant, Governor Udom said his bid is to proffer solutions to the multiple challenges which have impeded the country's development.

He declared that his presidential ambition was not a do or die affair, saying "If God choses me, I will do my best to restore the dignity and prosperity of the country" and
pledged to support whoever emerges.

He described Governor Ortom as an "elder brother" who has provided leadership direction for the PDP family in the country, adding that it was the reason he considered it appropriate to visit and solicit his support and that of Benue people.

KIDNAPPERS OF GREENFIELD STUDENTS , OTHER KIDNAPPING, R**E SUSPECTS ARRESTED

• 61 Fi****ms, 376 Ammunition, 22 Cartridges, Cash Sum of 2 Million Naira Recovered

The Force Intelligence Bureau Special Tactical Squad (FIB-STS) operatives following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, to clampdown on the perpetrators of crimes and criminality, as well as cutting off their supply of arms, have successfully effected the arrest of 31 suspects connected with major violent crimes including Kidnapping, Culpable Homicide, R**e, Unlawful Possession of Fi****ms etc.

The FIB-STS equally recovered a total of 61 fi****ms including 41 AK rifles, 8 Type 06 rifles, 4 Light Assault Rifles (LAR), 4 pump action guns, 2 locally made fi****ms, 1 G3 rifle, 1 dane gun, 376 rounds of live ammunition of different calibres, and cash sum of two million Naira, from the suspects in the course of investigations.

Prominent among the cases include a case of kidnapping where the duo of Aminu Lawal (aka Kano), and Murtala Dawu (aka Mugala), both working in synergy with the kidnap kingpin known as Yellow Ashana, confessed to the kidnap and murder of two police officers and one vigilante in 2021. They equally confessed to the kidnap of students from the Greenfield University in Kaduna State, and the mindless murder of five victims before the payment of ransom, and eventual release of the others. Intelligence shows that there area of operations include Dan Hunu, Kekebi, Dan Busha Rido, Maraban Rido, and Kumi Sata, all in Kaduna State. FIB-STS operatives caught up with them in March, 2022, after being on their trail upon the mention of their names in connection to the kidnapping of Bethel Baptist School students in 2021.

Similarly, a five-man trans-border syndicate who carries out kidnapping operations in between Adamawa State in Nigeria, and Burha, Fituha, and Kesu in Cameroun were arrested. The gang which comprises Abubakar Mohammed aged 28 years old, Shehu Mohammed aged 38 years old, Abdullahi Ali aged 30 years old, Abubakar Ali, aged 18 year old, and Hussaini Sule aged 18 years old, all males from Mubi, Adamawa State, targets wealthy individuals who possess beautiful houses or cars. They confessed to the kidnap and multiple r**e of a newly wedded woman at Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno state whom they released upon receipt of a million Naira ransom. They were apprehended by operatives of the FIB-STS after collecting a ransom sum of 2 million Naira for one Alhaji Moni of Buladega Village on the 11th of May, 2022.

Operatives of the FIB-STS equally apprehended the duo of Umar Muhammed aged 40 years old from Mitchika in Adamawa State, and Musa Buba aged 29 years old from Hong in Adamawa State, who are famous for their kidnapping activities. They were arrested at the market, upon credible intelligence that they would be there to buy food items for their kidnap victims. They confessed to many heinous crimes including the killing and beheading of one Alhaji Mai Gome, even after ransom payment had been made.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, fdc, while commending the FIB-STS operatives for the successes recorded, assured that all criminal elements will be smoked out of their hiding places and would answer to their crimes in due course.

All the suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of investigations.

POLICE ARREST SEVEN [7] SUSPECTED ARMS DEALERS IN JOS, TARABA

Recover Arms, Ammunition, As IGP Harps on Technology-Driven Policing in Nigeria

Operatives of the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT), in a sting operation, arrested four notorious arm dealers and recovered 57 AK47 rifles and a large catchment of ammunition in Jos, Plateau State and from other locations across the country.

The suspects, Hamza Zakari (aka Hamzo) aged 20yrs, Abubakar Muhammed (aka Fancy) aged 22yrs, Umar Ibrahim aged 25yrs and Muhammed Abdulkarim (aka Dan-Asabe) aged 37yrs, all males and residents of Jos, were arrested following a credible intelligence on their nefarious activities in Jos and its environs.

The suspects, who confessed to their involvement in arms dealings and other criminal acts, have been identified as one of the major links for the supply of arms and ammunition to criminal elements terrorizing the state and some other parts of the country. The investigation team is on the trail of their accomplices and they are closing in on them.

Similarly, operatives of the FIB-IRT acting on a tip-off have smashed and arrested three suspected gun runners in Ibi LGA of Taraba State. The suspects, Bello Sani, Venab Puncat and Yusuf Nahoda, all of Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba, during interrogation confessed to have purchased one AK47 rifle, and one SMG rifle at the cost of Nine Hundred Thousand Naira ( #900,000). Concerted effort has been activated to arrest their collaborators and recover the exhibits.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc [+], NPM, fdc, while commending the successes recorded by the FIB-IRT, reassured members of the public of his administration's commitment to the fight against common enemies of the nation who are hell-bent on causing pains, tears and agony to Nigerians. He also called for continuous support for the Police and the security community, as the Nigeria Police Force under his leadership will up its game to ensure public safety, peace and security via intelligence-led, technology–driven and robust community–based partnership for a better security architecture in Nigeria.

18 ALA'AFIN OF OYO WIVES AVAILABLE FOR NEW SUITORS FOLLOWING HIS DEMISE

The young and older wives of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, the 45th Alaafin of Oyo, may now be available to suitors without undergoing cleansing rituals after the demise of the renowned monarch.

Oba Adeyemi passed on late Friday at 83 after receiving treatments at the Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti and has just been buried few minutes ago today(4pm), Saturday, 23rd April, 2022 according to Islamic rites.

Although it is believed in the Yoruba tradition that the wives of the monarchs, either separated or still married are not at liberty to lay with other men until atonements have been made, palace sources claim that the late Alaafin’s wives may now move on with their normal lives.

While the number of wives remains unclear, the sources claim that the late monarch had at least 18 wives.

Some of late Adeyemi’s young queens are Abibat (first wife), Rahmat Adedayo, Mujidat, Rukayat, Folashade, Badirat Ajoke, Memunat Omowunmi, Omobolanle, Moji, Anuoluwapo, Damilola, Chioma and others are now available for suitors.

“They are not performing any cleansing; They are free to move on with their lives however, the wives cannot get married to an indigene of Oyo.

“Now that Alaafin is dead, they all would be asked to exit the palace with their belongings. Although the properties of the late monarch would be shared among them, a palace source told Peoples Gazette.

Older queens, Abibat and Rahmat were married to Oba Adeyemi at the time of his coronation on January 14, 1971.

In a 2018 interview with Punch, Oba Adeyemi had said that he never proposed to any of his young wives, but instead, they chose to cling to him because he sponsored their education.

“I did not propose to any of my wives. They desired to be with me because I sent them to school. After their university education, I told them to leave but they refused and insisted on staying with me here in the palace as my wives.”

In the past few years, some of his wives, Damilola, Anuoluwa and Badirat, moved out of the palace over various allegations ranging from adultery to stealing to just wanting their freedom.

Queen Anuoluwa left the palace in November 2020 because they wanted freedom. She alleged that she lived in bo***ge.

“It’s not my wish to walk out. I can’t continue to live under bo***ge. I wish to live, be the best I can for my children,” she said.

Damilola soon tendered a public apology, alleging that her friends misled her.
