ENG is Cheaper, so why are you choosing to be in cinema?
Why we don't "film"

WE ARE NOT FILMMAKERS! WE DON’T FILM! With the advent of digital media creation, this blurred a near 20 something year boundary of video and film. Like VHS vs. Beta, or DVCAM vs DVCPRO, if you want a cinema, dramatic productions in Southern New Hampshire, we are not the proper fit. If you want a ....

We have issued SSL certs for the following sites, and your browsers shouldn't be squawking, as TMOT has also been relocated within the clickford-dot-net domain, not as a subdomain... though redirects are being attempted to preserve permalinks that had been shared since early 2020.

It's that time of year again where all of our certificates for Secure Web hosting is needs to be redone.
This means our platform (at clickfo-dot-me), Techie Crafts, The Museum of Telephony may give you an error message about an expired certificate. Please dismiss them as they shouldn't harm your experience until we renew them all with our provider. Thanks!

TBH... it seems like WordPress' newer UI is full of "gluten", code bloat CPU intensive, fire hazard for smartphones, etc. Also this minimalism of the and younger Millennials... NEEDS TO STOP! Not defending "clutter" per se, but you need some bold and some bland, but being 220% bland is not productive. See my post on The Case for Graphical User Interfaces. At this point I am looking at alternatives

I recently came across this article, you have to applaud Ray (aka "Clack" IIRC) for keeping the show in reruns and in the syndicated columns for many years after Tom's passing with Car Talk. It was very eerie to read the columns or listen to the show with just Ray's dialog to the callers.. since it was basically the Car Talk episodes with Tom taken out for probably reasons that wasn't considered when he got sick and passed.

(TBH I haven't listened to the Best Of, so I can't speak with full authority if the show was totally not the same or it felt missing.)

"Car Talk" launched as a local show on WBUR in 1977, with brothers Tom and Ray Magliozzi behind the microphones. Now, the show will be released twice a week as a podcast, starting on Oct. 1. WBUR's Cityspace also will host an event on Nov. 4 celebrating the show's broadcast success.

On an emergent episode on June 30th on The Weekly Zoo, you see on my whiteboard a logo that resembles NY1, the long time quasi proprietary regional news channel on the ol Time Warner Cable systems. 29 years ago they disrupted the production of local media with the "One Man Band" approach where people out in the field looked weird having a camera pointed at them unmanned.

NY1 was featured in a number of publications from Wired, to the NYT to the blogsphere, and whether you like it or not, it's the new business model for Clickford Media and in a June concept meeting, I drew the logo on the whiteboard as a source idea.

We cannot afford additional staffing for production services and with COVID not going away, maybe this 30something year old concept may not be bad idea afterall.

Personal Responsibility starts and ends with you. If team-based social workflows push "we" it means they can use "you" when SHTF. We do not tolerate gaslighting in my industry. You want do throw someone under the bus after a crisis and blame "YOU!" - then go work for tech. We are not a tech company.

About 95% of the content on YouTube is mostly crap, cinema grade garbage, and people who believe it's OK to shoot and "edit stuff out" by literally cutting up clips without effects and graceful transitions.

Most of these people are literally kids who have not ever heard of the 3/4 tape, the Betacam, and never saw analog broadcast TV.

I grew up in a town that was the most richest in the area per capita (from perception) and many of the Millennials aren't around here because the goddamned school district insisted that at Londonderry High School, the lessons should be pre-university.

If there was less LHSes of the world, perhaps a course on media literacy and media production from say a Vlogger level, _and_ it being a required lesson, maybe it would interest the interested into making *better* content.

At Clicko-me, we do not advocate . What does that mean? It means to have a narrow, laser focus mindset on a single platform, technology, etc. It's extremely important to understand a multi spectrum of computer systems, applications, etc to be a well rounded creative professional.

Will the Fox News family of networks finally wake up when a core asset to their content creation died from the 'rona? If you're at Fox News right now, it's pretty skim across the personnel and it has nothing to do with covid - it has to do with financing the few full time/compensated pundits in the evening.

Eric Spinato, a top producer for Fox News and the Fox Business Network, died of the coronavirus over the weekend.

Viacom's management is performing "insanity" (repeating the same billion dollar mistakes thinking it will have a different result.)

(Ironically, I was getting targeted ads for CBS All Access, after the infamous, and over-repeated Para+ Super Bowl campaign on Facebook even as that brand was going to be obsoleted.)

ViacomCBS is looking to beef up its streaming investment in Paramount+ by raising $3 billion in stock offerings.

CNN and the other cable news channels are having multi digit decline in ratings... while I prefer to be impartial... I think it's extremely important to underscore the business model that is of CNN specifically.

Over a decade ago, CNN had multiple outlets including Headline News, CNN Radio, CNN International; their online platforms, etc. Before Jeff Zucker took over the show, the division of TimeWarner was making over a half a billion annually. CNN is considered to some markets to be a critical infrastructure because the newsroom for Headline News also acts a co-op satellite newsgathering service. This infrastructure was also making money.

From 1980 to 1995, CNN was struggling to make money to just cover expenses like any startup today. When CNN outgrew the infamous "Techwood Drive" facility in the summer of 1987, CNN the relocation (moving services, install of new equipment, lost time to training, etc.) to Downtown Atlanta cost over $20 million dollars. Not only in 1987 dollars was that a lot of money, but *anything* that was million for a company was a lot of money. Not to mention recently CNN announced they'd sell their land, lease it back for a few years and probably by 2025, they'll relocated to NYC or DC full time. It's kinda sad.

It wasn't until the mid 90s did CNN try to experiment outside of HN and CNN, because they were in the black at this point where they could spend some frugal cash for a couple ventures.

Today, CNN is loosing money more and more, and unfortunately CNN's primary source of revenue early on was subscriber fees, and the incremental costs that lead to cord-cutting. Don't blame your cable provider for the costs, it was mostly going to the cable networks.

Pretty standard cookie-cuttered engineering workflow. The New NBC News DC Bureau looks much like the New England flagship station; and the LA station, the Dallas station, and yeah... it doesn't look network-y anymore....thank you IT!

To get a view of the core technologies behind the new studio, we spoke with Jay Hurt, Vice President of Engineering and Operations for NBC News Washington Bureau.
