In warm, eloquent prose, Kerk Murray shares his dark moments as a teen and young adult while telling a beautiful story of love and forgiveness through his relationships with a few four-legged furry heroes. Giving Kerk a new purpose, their role in his redemption inspired him to founding The Lexi's Legacy Foundation, an animal advocacy 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which has provided care to over 500 abused animals and raised over $100,000 in donations and services for animal rescue organizations across the world.

As a tribute to the dogs in Kerk's life, 100% of the book's proceeds will be donated toward the nonprofit's mission to end animal suffering.

Book title: PAWPRINTS On Our Hearts
Author:

Kerk did a phenomenal job writing his memoir in a simple, emotional manner that as the reader was able to relate to certain experiences he went through with his pets.
He focused on the truths of what having a pet is: Love & Loss.
The most important detail emphasized throughout the book is the deeply strong bond that is forged with dogs, but especially with the one dog who helps you out during the darkest events of your life. Kerk went on to create the foundation named after his own pet : Lexie, to help other pups who need a home, medical care or any other unfortunate situation.
This book is dedicated to all pet owners, dog parents, and for pups.
If you're looking for a new book to read, I definitely recommend reading this one.

Thank you and for giving me the opportunity of reading this novel!

👻 Our friend and amazing author is back next month with her revised novella Decaf for the Dead. 🖤⤵️

👻 Patrick “Dilly” Dillon has been lifeless ever since he lost his wife in a tragic car accident. He’s desperate to reconnect with her and hopes one day she’ll come back to him as he sits in their favorite café day after day. He still orders two cups of coffee, hoping he’ll look up from his sketch book and see his Margaux’s face across from him with her hands wrapped around a mug.
The world is different now that she’s gone. Food is tasteless, the sun dim, and Dilly can’t remember the last time he felt the touch of another human being, even though he remains close to the baristas at Café Conquistador. Life will never be the same…
That is until a stunning young woman enters the café one day.
Jocelyn sees Dilly unlike anyone else and he can’t help but feel guilty for feeling drawn to another woman… There is just something about Jocelyn that feels familiar to him and he’s not sure why.
Legend has it that the Café Conquistador is haunted. Maybe it’s just tall tales or maybe it’s wishful thinking by the Conquistador baristas who miss seeing the most in love couple they’ve ever known sipping coffee together every morning.
Re-released with an epilogue November 15, 2022! 🙌🏻☕️

We can’t wait to read this one. Thanks Sandy for being part of the VBP fam!

Posted • Title: Mannequin: A Dark Psychological Novel

Author: .plesoianu97

Synopsis: Deeply scarred by the death of his mother, Chris is permanently on the edge of losing his frail stability.
Given that they sometimes go on missions together, Chris’ mobster friend Bone wants to teach him how to fire a gun. For this, they use two stolen mannequins as targets. One remains intact, and Chris takes it home but soon becomes unsettled by its increasingly unholy presence.

An irreversible deterioration begins when Chris mindlessly slaughters a vile pimp on a mission. Obsessed with the event, he reenacts the murder scene by beating and strangling the mannequin. However, when the lifeless torso starts to bleed and pulsate under his eyes, Chris fears he might be dealing with more than just trauma and anxiety this time.

Review: I genuinely liked Chris as the main character and I felt sorry for him! He has a lot on his plate! This book was so enticing and I knew the ending was going to be shocking for me! I also couldn't predict how this book would end! I was very invested in Chris’s life and kept hoping that things would get better for him! If you want to find out how it end for him you just read this book! I’m so glad I picked up this book this month it’s such a great October read! You will keep turning the pages to see how it all ends!!

Thank you bythebook for giving me the opportunity to read this book!

Love this review! ♥️👀Posted • BOOK BLAST: The Worst Story Ever Written by Nicole Wells

The Worst Story Ever Written is the book that I needed. It helped me refocus from the tornado that is my life right now, and it pulled me right out of a reading slump. I didn't know what to expect, but the description had me intrigued, especially the "somewhat mute aardvark".

The Worst Story Ever Written is quirky, s*xy, and funny. Don't judge this book by its title! I was pulled into Mythia and felt like I was part of Jayne's group. The characters felt real...Jayne is actually very similar to one of my friends. I loved the banter between all of the characters. The romance element is there, but it was a slow-burn romance and fun to see it develop.

I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from Nicole Wells.

Thank you to and for letting me be a part of the Book Blast!

Synopsis:
Magic, mystery, and a match made in heaven… maybe.
Oh, and a somewhat mute aardvark, too.

Hi. I’m Jayne. I know, plain human Jayne. But that’s not the story of my life. This book is.

It all started with a visit from the all-powerful Book Fairy. The very one that can turn the life of an author like me around.

It’s unfortunate we haven’t been on good terms. It’s even more unfortunate that when she finally deigns to visit me, it’s for murder. I mean, a murder. Damn articles, they really do make a difference.

Add in a kingdom on the brink of a breakdown and my fantasy lover, a vampire Prince who might just hate me, and things surely can’t get worse … right?

Warning: This has an inverse harem scene. If you don’t like group ceiling s*x, this book might not be for you.

Great interview Darcie Posted • Let's talk about 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘞𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯!

I asked about her inspiration for this book. Her reply: 👇

So there I was helping my first grader with his onomatopoeia homework and for the life of me I couldn’t pronounce this word. The unit, though, tickled my funny bone and a whisper in my ear told me it would pair well with an aardvark.

Many months later I ran screaming from the house and debated spending the night on the driveway because of a freaking cockroach. Like all good authors, I knew I’d take my vengeance in a book.

As a cover designer, I like sifting through photos and there was this one fantasy picture that had caught my eye—a beautiful redhead with pine cones in her hair surrounded by vintage books on a woodland floor. I wanted to write a story about it, and thought I might as well try a real estate tactic I’d heard about where they posted very unflattering things about the houses, which in the end got them lots of exposure.

All these parts percolated until I went to write the follow-up to my debut, 𝘜𝘱𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘬. The characters kept goofing off, so I relented and wrote this book with all its myriad inspiration to produce a goofy mix of romcom paranormal romance that thinks it’s a mystery. And thus 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘞𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯 was born…

And then eviscerated and zombied back together with new stuffing, plot threads, and two years worth of writing know-how and viola—you have the leveled-up second edition!

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘞𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯 is on tour with ! Check out their page for details.

Did you know Todd Rundgren did a song called 𝘖𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘦𝘪𝘢? Now it's stuck in my head.

What's a word that your tongue often trips over?

Posted • 💜🧡Happy Publish Day🧡💜

💜🧡please join me and in congratulating on the release of her new book, The Worst Story ever written.

It’s was such a fun book to read. You have a down in her luck writer who is swept away to the prices castle to help solve a murder! Not only do you have a wonderful romantic setting and story, there is mystery and comedic relief! I can not tell you how many times I busted out laughing at the one liners in this book! Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. You can find my full review up on my Goodreads, Amazon or BookBub pages.

Actual Note: Mild profanity. This is a slow-burn romance with just the right amount of spiciness to feel comfortable reading on public transit, so long as you’re prepared to laugh out loud. Cliffhanger ending.

Posted • The Worst Story Ever Written by Nicole Wells is a very misleading title. This is a great story! It is so fun. If you appreciate humor, puns and wit, this is so the book for you. I wanted Jayne’s friends as my own and Jayne, herself is such a unique character. There are many different elements to the story and they all mesh so well together. I really enjoyed this.

👀 Another great interview by 🗣🎙
Posted • Let's step inside an author's mind!

I asked if his characters ever surprise him. Here's what he had to say: 👇

My characters always surprise me!

I don’t use outlines when I write. I have a general idea of the plot or overall theme and I simply start writing. This method works for me because, as I create scenes, I’m forced to evaluate each character—what they say and do, their facial expressions and internal thoughts. This is where the surprises come. Sometimes a minor character ends up with a much more prominent role than they would have had if I strictly adhered to an outline. And sometimes, it’s the reverse—a major character ends up not as interesting as I had planned.

I also go through my final draft several times, assessing each character. When I write the book, I use a different font color for each main character. For example, if chapter one is told from the female lead’s point of view, the font will be black. If chapter two is told from the male lead’s point of view, the font is blue, if chapter three is told from the villain’s point of view, the font is red. This technique lets me review the entire draft, but from a specific character’s point of view. I read only the red chapters or black chapters, for example—to make sure the character is fully developed and the narrative flows. It works very well and I’m able to juggle several main characters and their different points of view. I don’t change the entire text to black font until I send it to my agent.

Thank you to and for the gifted copy of A CRIME THROUGH TIME! All opinions in this review are my own.

Synposis from the author:

"Paris, 1874: an artist's model is murdered and a wealthy socialite posing for her portrait is stalked by an unknown assailant.

"Normandy, 1956: a young widow inherits a house and finds eight old paintings with a mysterious note that claims they're clues to a crime.

"Two mysteries from different ages, the clues connected yet riddles remain. The cast of characters span a century--from a pompous detective, romantic artist, wealthy sociality, and famous racehorse, to a N**i colonel, young widow, ambitious jockey, and retired policeman. A Crime Through Time is a puzzle with pieces that don't quite fit, a tale of intrique, honor, and deceit, where lies are truths, fact is fiction, and nothing is ever quite as it seems."

What I liked about this mystery:
⏳️ short chapters helped to really draw me into the book
⏳️ multiple suspects that kept me guessing until the end
⏳️ no spoilers but I really liked how the ending came together!

A Crime Through Time is available now!

A Crime Through Time
By John Anthony Miller

📖What a delightful and fun read! I love historical mysteries as well as locked room mysteries and we have both in this wonderful cozy mystery. Thank you and for including me in this book tour! Swipe right ➡️to see the others who joined us for their take!

This book has two timelines (another favorite of mine!) - one was Paris (France) in 1874 and the other was 1956 in a town called Deauville (also in France).

💫Synopsis💫

🕰In 1874, an artist's model is murdered near his studio in Montmartre. Soon after that, a wealthy woman named Elise, having her portrait painted by the same artist, has been attacked twice. Who has attacked her and why? Is it coincidence that one attack took place near the same spot as the earlier murder?

⏰In 1956, a young woman named Zelie inherits a home in Deauville, France. She finds several paintings in an upstairs attic - with a note that says they are the clues to a crime!!!

🖼One painting is of a beautiful and seemingly wealthy woman and the others depict various scenes, including an artist's studio in Montmartre. The paintings illustrate the 1874 storyline!

🕵🏻‍♀️The mystery unfolding in 1874 is then being solved by Zelie and her friends in 1956.

💫My Take💫

Such a fun read - such a cast of characters! We have arrogant and browbeaten detectives, wealthy business magnates, an artist, a nosy neighbor and well - you get the picture! Well-written and so enjoyable!!!  I did not guess the ending - which is always a plus!

🤗I highly recommend this if you are looking for a fun read that will keep you guessing until the end!

Thank you again for the opportunity to read this book - it was published May 13, 2002!

💫💫💫💫

Q: What do you think about when you first think of France?

The Break-Down:
After Cee's father and beloved brother are dead from an accident which she feels responsible for, the twelve-year-old turns to her parish priest for forgiveness and comfort. Over the next few years, she falls under the influence of his tortured mind and distorted teachings. Cee's struggle for emotional independence and the priest's desire for control begins a battle of wills. Several bad decisions are made resulting in three acts of violence in Albuquerque in the winter of 2012. Seventeen-year-old Cee is connected to the three victims, and the police follow the threads leading to her. However, the truth is more tangled.

The Mad Girl asks the question: Can a teen ever escape her mistakes, now that they have become deadly?

The Review:

✨You guys know by now I really enjoy stories told in alternating POV and past/present timelines. Colvin executed this writing style well enough to keep me hooked. My favorite POV is from the priest. Although I was frustrated with this character at times, I thought his storyline and connection was the most interesting 🤯

✨The main character, Cee, I felt so sympathetic towards. She struggles with so many challenges, her emotions and mentality being the direct one. Cee has and continues to deal with trauma and uncertainty, going to the priest as a mentor or parental guidance and she seems to be set on never disappointing him.

✨If you enjoy dark, psychological thrillers, I recommend checking this book out! So many twists and turns with connecting storylines intertwined in different timelines I found super interesting!

✨There are trigger warnings included that caused me to put the book down and to take a break from reading, so just a precaution of s*xual abuse, mental health, bullying, abuse, and self-harm.

Enjoy and happy reading!
