This month marks two anniversaries of ongoing conflicts in Europe and Southeast Asia, namely 12 months after Russia invaded Ukraine and two years since Myanmar's military seized power by toppling a democratically elected and civilian-led government under Aung San Suu Kyi.

The ASEAN Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar refers to a joint statement issued by the leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on April 24, 2021. The five points of the consensus are:
1. There shall be an immediate cessation of violence in Myanmar and all parties shall exercise utmost restraint.
2. Constructive dialogue among all parties concerned shall commence to seek a peaceful solution in the interests of the people.
3. A special envoy of the ASEAN Chair shall facilitate mediation of the dialogue process, with the assistance of the Secretary-General of ASEAN.
4. ASEAN shall provide humanitarian assistance through the AHA Centre.
5. The special envoy and delegation shall visit Myanmar to meet with all parties concerned.
This consensus reflects ASEAN's stance on the situation in Myanmar and its efforts to encourage a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
