Prepare to dig deep. "SuperTed" (1982-1986) is a Welsh animated series that originated in stories created by Mike Young in 1978 to help his son overcome his fear of the dark. The series eventually made its way to America in 1989 with a continuation called "The Further Adventures of SuperTed." SuperTed is a "defective" teddy bear, discarded during production, only to be found by a spotted spaceman. The spaceman uses cosmic dust to bring him to life, taking him to a magic cloud where Mother Nature grants him superpowers. Using his secret magic word, he can transform into SuperTed in an instant. Together, SuperTed and the Spotty Man travel the universe, protecting those in need and thwarting the evil Texas Pete and his henchmen from taking over the world.

Surely, you remember this classic comedy. Anytime I see Leslie Nielsen, I know I'm in for a good laugh. "Airplane" (1980) is a hilarious parody of the disaster film genre, specifically targeting the 1957 film "Zero Hour." Leslie Nielsen stars alongside Robert Stack, Julie Hagerty, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Peter Graves, and Lorna Patterson. The slapstick comedy and dark humor are expertly crafted to leave you amused and entertained.

We were blessed with a handful of these parody films in the 80s snd 90s and convinced that we may never reach another era of comedy quite compares.

This profound quote is just one of many from "The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo." The show premiered on Nickelodeon in 1996 and aired for four seasons, featuring a talented cast, including Irene Ng, Pat Morita, Adam Busch, and Preslaysa Edwards, with Eleanor Noble, Noah Klar, and Ellen David joining in season 4.

The show follows Shelby Woo, an intern at her local police department in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where she lives with her grandfather. Often, Shelby needs reminding that, as her grandfather says, "We are not detectives with warrant badges, we are innkeepers with brooms," as she can't resist getting entangled in serious mysteries. Something is always brewing.

In season four, Shelby and her grandfather relocate to Boston, introducing new friends and faces that add freshness to the show. Although "The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo" may have ended its run, its blend of mystery, humor, and heart has left a lasting impression on many who grew up watching Shelby's adventures. The show's legacy serves as a reminder that curiosity, determination, and a little bit of sleuthing can lead to unforgettable experiences.

"Kids" is a provocative drama that ignited controversy upon its 1995 release. The film marked the cinematic debuts of Leo Fitzpatrick, Justin Pierce, and Chloรซ Sevigny, as well as the directorial debut of Larry Clark and Harmony Korine's first screenplay.

This unflinching portrayal of teenage life is undeniably disturbing, yet it effectively conveys the importance of practicing safe s*x. The film's frank depiction of sensitive topics sparked intense debate, largely due to its unconventional approach. Unlike many films tackling similar themes, "Kids" eschews moral introspection, instead presenting a raw, unvarnished portrayal of its characters' downward spiral.

While this approach may be unsettling, it also lends the film a haunting authenticity, laying bare the harsh realities of teenage life.

"King of the Hill" (1997-2010) is a timeless classic and one of my favorite easy-watch shows. Its relatable characters, witty humor, and far out storylines make it a joy to watch anytime, regardless of the season or episode.

The show was created by Mike Judge, who was also behind the hit series "Beavis and Butt-Head." "King of the Hill" boasted many memorable holiday episodes, and with Thanksgiving around the corner, here are four standout episodes to enjoy:

๐™Ž๐™š๐™–๐™จ๐™ค๐™ฃ 3, ๐™€๐™ฅ๐™ž๐™จ๐™ค๐™™๐™š 7: "Nine Pretty Darn Angry Men"

I'm a sucker for holiday episodes, and "King of the Hill" never fails to deliver. If you're looking for a light-hearted, entertaining watch this Thanksgiving, look no further than these classic episodes.

"Loaded Weapon 1" is a 1993 parody film that playfully spoofs many iconic action movies, primarily the "Lethal Weapon" series. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Samuel L. Jackson, Emilio Estevez, and Jon Lovitz. Notable appearances also include Kathy Ireland, William Shatner, and Tim Curry, who hilariously portrays Mr. Jigsaw, a parody of Gary Busey's character Mr. Joshua from "Lethal Weapon."

The movie follows the unlikely partnership between Sergeants Wes Luger (Jackson) and Jack C**t (Estevez) as they team up to solve a bizarre crime. Along the way, the odd couple encounter a series of wacky misadventures, hilarious gags, and comedic misunderstandings.

"Loaded Weapon 1" is a lighthearted, comedic romp that affectionately pokes fun at the action movie genre. With its talented cast and clever parody, this film remains an entertaining and nostalgic treat for fans of 90s comedy.

In 1982, "TRON" was released, marking one of the earliest cinematic uses of CGI technology. The film stars Jeff Bridges as computer programmer Kevin Flynn, alongside Bruce Boxleitner, David Warner, Cindy Morgan, and Barnard Hughes. Steven Lisberger's inspiration for the film stemmed from his fascination with video games, particularly the 1972 table tennis-themed game "Pong." Initially, Lisberger envisioned an animated film, but he later decided to incorporate live-action elements blended with computer animation.

"TRON" received multiple Academy Award nominations but was disqualified from the "Best Visual Effects" category, as the Academy considered computer animation to be "cheating" โ€“ a notion that seems absurd today. Nearly 30 years later, in 2010, "TRON: Legacy" was released as a sequel, with Bridges and Boxleitner reprising their roles, and Lisberger serving as producer. An animated series, set between the two films, premiered in 2012 on Disney XD. A third movie installment is slated for release in October 2025. Regardless of one's opinion on the film, "TRON" remains an iconic part of cinema history.

Released in theaters in December 1995, "12 Monkeys" is a gripping sci-fi thrill ride inspired by Chris Marker's 1962 featurette "La Jetรฉe." Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the film whisks viewers away on a mysterious journey through time. At its core, the mission is to prevent the spread of a deadly virus that has decimated the Earth's population.

Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe, and Brad Pitt star in the film, alongside an impressive cast of co-stars and supporting characters. Many consider the film to be part of a dystopian trilogy, along with "Brazil" (1985) and "The Zero Theorem" (2013). However, Terry Gilliam, the director, has stated that he never intended the films to be a trilogy; nonetheless, the label has become so closely associated with them that it has effectively become true.

A TV series of the same name was released in 2015, loosely adapting the film and solidifying its status as a cult classic.

Ed O'Neill, beloved for his iconic role as Al Bundy in "Married... with Children," has continued to entertain audiences over the years. One notable example is the 1991 comedy film "Dutch," where O'Neill stars alongside Ethan Embry, JoBeth Williams, Christopher McDonald, Ari Meyers, and E.G. Daily.

In "Dutch," O'Neill plays the titular character, a rough-around-the-edges boyfriend who picks up his girlfriend's son, Doyle (Ethan Embry), from private school in Georgia and embarks on a disastrous road trip back to Chicago.

As they clash and bicker, Doyle undergoes a transformative journey, ultimately realizing the importance of family and the value of spending quality time with his mother. This heartwarming and hilarious film is perfect for a family movie night โ€“ though it may not be suitable for very young children.

Babar, the beloved elephant, was created by Jean de Brunhoff, whose first of seven stories, "Histoire de Babar," debuted in 1931. Two years later, A.A. Milne introduced the character to English-speaking audiences. Following Jean's passing, his son Laurent de Brunhoff continued the legacy in 1946.

The animated series "Babar" premiered in 1989, with the first two seasons focusing on Babar's childhood, as told to his children. Later seasons shifted to the present day, following Babar and his family. The series spawned three movies: "Babar and Father Christmas" (1986), "Babar: The Movie" (1989), and "Babar: King of the Elephants" (1999).

After a brief hiatus, the series resumed in 2001 for a 13-episode season. A modern adaptation, "Babar and the Adventures of Badou," premiered in 2010. Nearly a century after his debut, Babar remains a timeless and cherished character.

Does anyone still listen to AM radio? The NBC sitcom "NewsRadio" aired in 1995, offering a behind-the-scenes look at a New York City AM news radio station. This comedy boasted a talented ensemble cast, starring Dave Foley, Andy Dick, Maura Tierney, Stephen Root, Khandi Alexander, Joe Rogan, and Phil Hartman in his final role as a regular cast member. After Phil Hartman's passing, Jon Lovitz joined the cast.

The show's humor typically stemmed from the antics of the newsroom staff, with new news director Dave Nelson (Foley) struggling to maintain order. Several other actors made repeat appearances throughout multiple seasons, often playing different characters. Notable examples include David Cross, Toby Huss, Brian Posehn, David Anthony Higgins, Dave Allen, Wallace Langham, and Bob Odenkirk. John Ritter even made a guest appearance as Dr. Frank Westford in the season 2 episode titled "The Shrink."

At a time when sitcoms were truly something special, NewsRadio remains one of the best, shining brightly amidst the "90s gold" era of television comedy.

If you're curious about whether aliens exist, here's some humorous proof. The 1996 sitcom "3rd Rock from the Sun" tells the story of four extraterrestrial beings who come to Earth on a research expedition. John Lithgow, Kristen Johnston, French Stewart, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt star as the four aliens, each with their own unique qualities. Jane Curtin plays Dr. Mary Albright, a professor of anthropology whose work reflects many of the struggles the travelers face.

"3rd Rock from the Sun" was a hit, winning more Primetime Emmy Awards than any other TV show in 1997. Despite its success, the show is often overlooked in conversation, making it a nostalgic gem worth revisiting.

If you grew up watching Beavis and Butt-Head, you're probably old and a pretty neat person. "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America" made its theatrical debut in December 1996, making it nearly 28 years old โ€“ which might as well be 30. Yikes.

The movie spawned from the success of the 1993 Beavis and Butt-Head TV series, created by certified genius Mike Judge, who went on to give us the classic animated sitcom "King of the Hill" in 1997. Mike Judge himself provided most of the voices, including those of Beavis and Butt-Head. The supporting voice cast was equally impressive, featuring Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, Cloris Leachman, Greg Kinnear, Robert Stack, and David Letterman in a small part.

The movie begins with a giant Butt-Head destroying the city, only to be woken up on the couch by Beavis, who informs him that their TV set is missing. We see two men loading it into a van, out of site of the two boys. They are confused and distraught, declaring that this situation "sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before." They make it their mission to find the bu****le who took their TV.

The original series ended in 1997, but was revived in 2011 and again in 2022. New episodes are reportedly arriving in 2025.

As a duo that everyone knows, whether you watched the show or not, Beavis and Butt-Head remain a beloved and iconic part of pop culture, still entertaining audiences with their hilarious antics and sarcastic commentary.

This is a quote from Ray Bradbury's 1953 dystopian novel, "Fahrenheit 451," which remains an important piece of literature to this day. The book was adapted into film in 1966, and once again in 2018.

The story tells of an oppressed futuristic society where literature has been outlawed, and firefighters have become the enforcers, sent out to destroy books whenever they are discovered. The firefighters have the power to search anyone at any time and burn any books they may find. The idea is to prevent revolution and free thinking, convincing society that books make people unhappy and lead them to believe they are better than everyone else.

The firefighter the story focuses on is named Guy Montag. After his encounters with his young neighbor, who seems to think differently, Montag's curiosity is piqued.

We live in a day and age far different from the world Ray Bradbury lived in when he wrote this book, yet we share many unsettling similarities with his vision.

Let's lighten the mood. We need more friendly Sasquatch movies. "Harry and the Hendersons" rocked the box office in 1987. The film starred John Lithgow, Melinda Dillon, Margaret Langrick, and Joshua Rudoy as the Hendersons, with Kevin Peter Hall playing the man inside the Harry suit, assisted by multiple puppeteers.

When the Hendersons are driving home from a camping trip, George Henderson hits a large creature with his station wagon. To their surprise, it's Bigfoot. Believing the creature is unalive, the family straps it to the car and continues home, thinking they've struck gold. Unbeknownst to them, a hunter who was tracking the Sasquatch finds their battered license plate.

After settling in at home, George decides to inspect the creature, only to discover it's alive and has escaped. He finds Harry in the kitchen and soon realizes he's friendly and intelligent.

This classic family film inspired a television series, also called "Harry and the Hendersons," which premiered in 1991 and ran for three seasons, with a total of 72 episodes. If you're looking for a fun family film for your next movie night, "Harry and the Hendersons" should be on your list.

"Shiloh" is a 1996 movie based on the 1991 book by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. This book is one of the first chapter books I remember reading.

When a beagle puppy escapes its abusive home and finds its way to the Travers family, Marty is initially forced to return him. However, the determined pup soon finds its way back, prompting Marty to hide him in the shed. Eventually, Marty convinces the owner, Judd Travers, to sell him the puppy, Shiloh, in exchange for labor rather than cash.

This classic story will always hold a special place in my heart. The film spawned two sequels, released in 1999 and 2006. I hope I'm not alone in cherishing this beloved book and movie.

When you think of Rick Moranis, many classics come to mind. Although "Big Bully" (1996) may not be one of those iconic films typically associated with Moranis, the performances were undoubtedly great. Tom Arnold and Rick Moranis star in the film as a bully and his victim, who reconnect as adults. Julianne Phillips, Carol Kane, and Jeffrey Tambor also deliver notable performances.

The story begins in 1970, where young David Leary is relentlessly bullied by Roscoe Bigger, known on campus as Fang due to his pointed tooth. When David discovers he's moving, he seizes the opportunity to report Fang for stealing a moon rock, resulting in his arrest.

Twenty-six years later, the two men reconnect when David's son begins bullying a kid at school, only to learn that his father is Fang, now known as Ross. Ross's troubled past has changed him, but upon learning David's identity, he reverts to his old bullying ways.

Written and directed by Trey Parker as his second feature-length film, "Orgazmo" is a 1997 comedy starring Trey Parker himself, Matt Stone, Dian Bachar, Robyn Lynne, and Michael Dean Jacobs.

Parker portrays Joseph Young, a Mormon missionary working with his partner in Los Angeles and raising money for his wedding. When a sleazy adult film director offers him a job after witnessing his impressive martial arts skills, he reluctantly accepts upon learning the generous pay.

The movie he's hired for is "Orgazmo," about a risquรฉ superhero fighting crime with his sidekick, Choda Boy. This classic comedy was released just a month after "South Park" first aired. The over-the-top humor is to be expected.
