1st NIGERIAN TO WRITE A BOOK.
Alauda Nwankwo (1745 - 1797) whose name was later changed to Alauda Gustavo Equiano after becoming a slave. He was born in Iseke Ihiala now in Anambra and was kidnapped at the age of 11 in 1756 alongside with his sister as they were playing in the house when the elders had gone to the farm. They were sold to slave traders who shipped them to the Caribeans with 244 other slaves. He wrote this autobiography in 1789. His works contributed immensely in the abolition of slave trade.
