See 👀 this is what I was talking about yesterday. It’s no reason they shouldn’t know the hottest songs from the 90s. My parents and older DJs exposed me to a lot of music I spin today. A lot of old school hits today I was a little kid when it was released but I KNOW for a fact it was hot back in the day. Some of the biggest spots in Houston I have turned down or gave the opportunity to another DJ because I don’t have the patience or desire to DJ for people who wanna hear the same type music. I currently DJ for people who drop $20 in the tip jar because I played something they don’t hear when they go other places. And they don’t even request. They tip and enjoy the show. That’s what true DJing is all about. “THE AUDIENCE ENJOYING THE SHOW”. My favorite saying when I DJ is….”Ima guarantee the several songs I drop was HOT back in the day, if not I’ll buy you a drink”….I haven’t been wrong yet 😁🙏🏾 I know my music and 2nd I come from the ERA of controlling dance floors and keeping it packed with good music people dance to. My mental playlist is much different than others…. But the moral of the story is…..It’s our job as DJs to expose good music to our audience regardless of age and generation.
