NUP recommends Barbie Kyagulanyi’s sister Keijagye as Policy Analyst at Parliament
As the country woke up to the news of Politicians, including the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and Government Chief Whip Thomas Tayebwa offering relatives jobs to relatives, it has also been disclosed that several of the people in the leading opposition party the National Unity Platform were recommended for jobs at Parliament.
According to a list of those recommended for such jobs, relatives of the Chief Opposition Whip John Baptist Nambeshe, NUP President’s Wife Barbie Kyagulanyi’s Sister Brenda Keijagye among others.
A graduate of community phycology, Keijagye has been a Director in Caring Hearts, an NGO led and owned by her sister Barbie Kyagulanyi, whose husband Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, the President of NUP acts as the patron.
In May this year, as Parliament sought for more staff to work in the office of the Leader of Opposition, well as the Parliamentary Commission was set to interview all candidates, only those recommended by the leading opposition party were considered for interviews.
Amongst those would be secretaries, Policy Analysts and personal assistants.
However, apart from a handful of those competent and able, a host of other recommended appointees did not meet qualification requirements while others were relatives of the leaders of the party.
For instance, Keijagye, a sister Kyagulanyi’s wife is a graduate of Community Phycology. She was appointed as a Policy anaylst on the Parliamentary Committee on climate change.
Keijagye Karuhanga is married to Mr Innocent Kabwiso, a former NRM Parliamentary Candidate in Kashaali Constituency has also been acting a pivotal role in engaging both the opposition and NRM leaders in opportunities based on community phycology.
As Keijagye appeared before the commission for interview, she seemed strange to fellow nominees and everyone wondered where her contribution was to the opposition quest for leadership.
“Some even wondered if she had experience to do Policy analysis yet several other competent people were left untilised,” a source told this website.
Well as the National Unity Platform has fully fledged Policy team comprising of 19 Personnel, none of the members in the team has been consulted on matters related to policy formulation and analysis including in the appointment of such Policy analysts at Parliament, despite the competency of all people on the team.
Also, it has been established that several other people who were scrutinized by the National Unity Platform headquarter away from a select few did not meet the academic qualifications and instead used other people’s documents.
The acts raised concerns on whether the National Unity Platform still does exactly what the National Resistance Movement does in practicing what many call nepotism.
“What are these people up to? Who can they tell now that they can fight bad Leadership when they exercise the very policies as government officials?” Hassan Kayiira, one of the NUP supporters in Kampala asked.
Last week, the Daily Monitor newspaper wrote that the Government Chief Whip Thomas Tayebwa and Leader of Government Business in Parliament Rt Hon. Robinah Nabbanja employed relatives into several positions in their offices, raising concerns on nepotism.
