The stages of grief are really divisive in the grief world. The weren’t designed to be a nice neat process which is of course how many people have interpreted them.

They can be really useful for some people, but they aren’t linear, and were never meant to be. They can help people name and understand emotions but there are many more emotions that are felt too.

They give the impression to some people the grief is something to be completed, when in my mind it’s something we learn to live with.

Elizabeth’s work was groundbreaking, and makes a lot of sense when applied to how someone feels about their own death. But I feel with grief work, take what works for you and leave the rest.

The stages of grief are really divisive in the grief world. The weren’t designed to be a nice neat process which is of course how many people have interpreted them.

They can be really useful for some people, but they aren’t linear, and were never meant to be. They can help people name and understand emotions but there are many more emotions that are felt too.

Today Kanye released a music video where he kidnaps a version of Pete Davidson and buries him. Flowers grow from Pete's head and he cuts them, putting them in a flatbed truck to send to Kim.

A woman choose to leave a relationship and instead of respecting her decision and boundaries. He's 'fighting for his family' or being 'artistic'.

This is not ROMANTIC. This is threatening, controlling, coercive, harmful, abusive.

Stop acting like this is normal or acceptable behaviour. It is harmful and needs to stop.

All humans have a MC1R gene, but redheads have a certain mutation on their version of the gene, specifically on chromosome 16. This chromosome is responsible for dictating pigmentation in the whole human body, affecting not just hair colour but also skin tone and eye colour, too

For redheads, this chromosome 16 mutation on MC1R (also known as the ‘ginger gene’) leads to the production of higher pheomelanin levels than is expected in humans, which is a reddish pigment, hence giving red hair (and also pale skin and lighter eye colours). In fact, the more pheomelanin you have, the more vibrant your ginger shade will be, which explains why we get so many different shades of red hair, from strawberry blonde through to deep auburn.
Having such an overload of reddish pheomelanin can outbalance eumelanin levels in the body, which is the brown pigment responsible for darker hair colours and skin tones. This all ties in with your body’s ability to tan, and explains why red hair is very likely to be paired with pale skin, as you’ll likely have much lower levels of eumelanin. Pheomelanin cannot filter out UV rays as well as eumelanin, which is why redheads are more prone to sunburn. Side note: freckles are your body’s way of presenting its low levels of eumelanin in concentrated areas, otherwise known as tan (but in really tiny patches!

This realisation happened to me recently. I'd see the men speaking loudly, using buzz words but not actually saying anything. Like politicians, not answering the question but spewing confidence. What they say is accepted, no questions.

Then when I speak, confidently because I'm clear about what I want to say. The response leads to a lesson in why I'm wrong, a group discussion and then a final conclusion that brings us back to my start point.

Like many people, Martyna would diet and lose weight and gain it back. By learning to be kinder to herself, doing the exercise that she likes and not restricting the types of food she eats she lost 100lbs. She stuck to her calories like they were a budget. When choosing your calorie budget, it’s important to make sure you are give yourself a big enough budget for you. Giving yourself an unrealistically low calorie budget is really bad for you and we aren’t here for it! If in doubt, speak to a professional for advice.

Fact. There was no male violence until women were cast into roles traditionally played by men! Well, that’s according to British MP Nick Fletcher. These are his actual words that were captured on film.

Often the people who negatively comment when we are fat, also negatively comment when we lose weight.

Here we talk about the dick things that people say when you are bigger. ‘Are you sure you want to eat that?’ It’s so di***sh because a lot of us are emotional eaters and saying s**t like this just increases the level of shame we feel. It’s unhelpful. Stop commenting on other peoples food and bodies!

Posted • When I first saw the statistic that only 8% of disabled people in the UK are wheelchair users, I was shocked, even as someone with an invisible disability. It’s been so hard wired in us to equate disability with wheelchairs, I mean the “disabled” sign ♿️ is literally a person in a wheelchair! But not having any visible indicator of disability does not make someone less disabled. And, as you can see, many disabled people have invisible disabilities.

What can we do to change this? Start to buy ‘men’s’ or unisex branded items, for many of the items that don’t make a difference. Eg, razors. Spend the extra on things where you actually get the benefit, like shampoo if you have coloured hair.

In a tongue in cheek dig at the pink tax, Cards Against Humanity released a ‘for Her’ set in 2017. It contained all the same cards as the original game, with the same exact color scheme of black prompt cards and white answer cards. However, it came in a box that’s pink instead of the usual black — because “women love the color pink,” or so said Jenn Bane, the company’s community director, it cost $30, which is $5 more than the standard version.

All profits from the sale of Cards Against Humanity for Her went to EMILY’s List, a political action committee that works to help put pro-choice Democratic women candidates into elected office.
