The ducks avoided Glenn and I today, but we always come prepared with a fishing rod or two. We kept 11, lost quite a few, and released a few. It was a good day!

Something pretty cool happened yesterday. After surf fishing, my wife and I packed everything away in the surf cart. Just as we finished, I noticed a young boy and his older brother arrive and begin fishing next to us with artificial lures. The younger boy, about ten or eleven years old, approached me and asked if we had caught anything. I told him, “Yes, we caught a bunch of Whiting, but no Pompano today buddy.” He asked what I was using for bait and I told him, “Fishbites”. He said he had never used them before so I showed him how to use them, then gave him a whole package of orange clam flavor. He kindly thanked me and joined his brother fishing. I glanced over to see him rigging the Fishbites on the hook and he made his first cast. Less than a few minutes later we rolled by with the surf cart and watched him reel in a very nice Whiting. I didn’t get his name, but we gave him a congratulatory “Good job!” and thumbs up as we passed. I bet he didn’t think those Fishbites would work, but I suspect they made another believer. I wouldn’t have gave them to him if I wasn’t a believer. Tight lines everybody!

After a long week in the deer woods, things went from bad to worse. I recorded a lot of video, but I wasn’t going to upload it to YouTube. But, I thought about it and I decided that this is the reality of hunting and the roller coaster it can be. Stay tuned, you’re going to want to MISS this one.
