In Astrology, an opposition is a planetary aspect that indicates a 180 degree angle split between the two opposing signs or planets. Oppositions are considered hard aspects which are often intense and similar in terms of energetic signature to Mars.

Oppositions are typically challenging and they force us to grow and develop over a longer period of time. When oppositions happen, it’s a kind of intense planetary showdown where each planet refuses to break eye contact - in a sexy or maybe threatening kind of way depending on the planets and signs involved.

VENUS RETROGRADE IN ARIES -- Mar 2, 2025 - Apr 13, 2025

Venus will retrograde early on in the year for a little over a month in the cardinal fire sign of Aries, underscoring these energies we'll be experiencing in the sign of Aries for a good portion of the year.

Venus deals with our sense of style, beauty, finances, and our relationships with others. In the sign of Aries, Venus will ask us to express ourselves passionately and authentically, regardless of what others think. It asks us to speak up and express our truth in relationships, even if it's not what others want to hear.

We sometimes need to follow our own path alone, independently, in order to live more authentically and this can bring us greater creativity, success, stronger sense of self, confidence, and wealth. And that's really the questions at hand with Venus in Aries and the subsequent retrogradation.

JUPITER RETROGRADE IN CANCER -- Nov 11, 2025 - Mar 11, 2026

Jupiter will move into Cancer in July 2025 and this brings an exalted transit to our lives when it comes to how we expand, grow, gain luck and opportunities, and generally experience greater prosperity in some area of our life.

There may also be experiences where we are forced to examine how we might overdo it when it comes to our emotions, emotional expression, taking things personally, and being moody.

Jupiter will then retrograde, allowing us to review how we've expanded and grown, what needs to integrated further, what needs to be discarded, and how we must shift our emotional and mental state to suit this new version of ourselves for the longterm.

SATURN RETROGRADE IN ARIES / PISCES -- Jul 13, 2025 - Nov 28, 2025

Saturn has been in Pisces for a few years now and this year, we're going to feel a major shift for a short while here where Saturn moves into Aries! This will bring us a more solid sense of independence, authenticity, and passionate energy. We will need to build new structures and let old ones dissolve in order to live more truthfully, authentically, and courageously.

URANUS RETROGRADE IN GEMINI / TA**US -- Sept 6, 2025 - Feb 4, 2026

Uranus begins a massive shift this year from earthy, fixed, and stable Ta**us to airy, unstable, and dynamic Gemini and we will experience these fresh shake ups for a hot minute before Uranus stations retrograde and oscillates between Gemini and Ta**us. This asks us to embrace unpredictable twists and turns with a sense of curiosity, fun and connection - like a Gemini - while examining what traditions should we toss and which should we keep?

Uranus is another outer planet so, again, if you don't have personal planets here in Gemini or other mutable signs, it won't feel as pressing. If you do, however: buckle up for what's bound to be a bit of a wild, but probably fun, ride this year!

Neptune will experience a huge shift this year where we move out of Piscean energies for a hot minute in 2025 and into fiery Aries! Then, we will have a Neptune Retrograde where Neptune shifts between the two signs. What does this bring for us? A revision of our identity, independence, leadership, and personal self as it relates to our sense of faith, hopes and dreams, unconditional love and sacrifice, and sense of goodness in the world/people/the universe.

PLUTO RETROGRADE IN AQUARIUS -- May 4, 2025 - Oct 14, 2025

We've seen this a bit last year where Pluto retrogradation oscillated between Capricorn and Aquarius, but this year, we will see the retrograde only in Aquarius, solidly in this fixed air energy. What can we expect? Social revolution, social justice movements, and big shifts for the people in government and societal changes. Pluto is more collective energy, but if you have personal planets in Aquarius or fixed signs, you'll be affected a lot more acutely than others.

🌟 MAJOR TRANSITS OF 2025 - SAVE THESE IMPORTANT DATES! 🌟

TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE IN VIRGO -- Mar 14, 2025

The first Lunar Eclipse of 2025 is a total eclipse with a whole lot of planets interacting with it in the later degrees of Virgo and Pisces, respectively. This comes just as we've experience a shift of the lunar nodes into these signs as well, underscoring these energies all the more as well.

It is, technically, the second eclipse in a set of 7 we will experience along the Virgo-Pisces axis (the first was on Sept 17, 2024 and the last will be on Feb 20, 2027). We are being pushed to grow towards our greater potential, spiritually and practically, and find a balance between taking a leap of faith and trusting in the Divine plan while also mastering our talents/skills, being pragmatic and problem solving, organizing our routines, and taking care of the details of our health and work lives.

SOLAR ECLIPSE IN ARIES -- Mar 29, 2025

Combined with the last dregs of Pisces energy here, we're both wrapping things up and finalizing decisions as well as getting started with the first steps toward long-term changes in the Aries ruled area of our lives. Now is the time to bravely work toward self-mastery, self-empowerment, and stand authentically in our personal truth(s).

NEPTUNE ENTERS ARIES -- Mar 30, 2025

Since 2011, we've been dealing with intense Pisces energy where things may have felt spiritually intense, creative and imaginative, dreamy, hazy, confusing, selfless, intuitive, empathetic, delusional, and maybe even in a cloud of some kind of addictive behavior. We get the first taste of an entirely different energy for a good portion of 2025 where Neptune will dip into fiery Aries and shift us out of what may have felt like a decade long dream state. Although Neptune is more comfortable in Pisces, Aries will feel like dumping a cold bucket of clarity over your head, forcing us to move out of whatever hazy stagnancy we've been drifting through and into motion for greater courage, independence, and truth.

Saturn shifts out of Pisces, where it's been for several years now, and moves into cardinal fire sign, Aries, giving us a taste for manifesting our desires with courage, independence, pioneering entrepreneurship, and authenticity.

Saturn in Aries is about harnessing our innovative, trail-blazing ideas and fearlessly speaking our truth in order to build legacies, longterm success, and a strong sense of self.

JUPITER ENTERS CANCER -- June 9, 2025

Jupiter is exalted in the cardinal water sign of Cancer which brings us serious, intuitively guided transformation, opportunities, and luck. This will be especially lucky for those with personal planets and points in Gemini, Sagittarius, Libra, and Aquarius.

In the Cancer-ruled area of your life, you may experience heightened intuition and wisdom which steers you towards greater growth, prosperity, and expansion, especially from mid-October to end of November.

Uranus has been in Ta**us for several years now, but in July, it moves into airy, mutable Gemini where we become more dynamic, adaptable, progressive, curious, and intellectually quick. Our ability to absorb information will become faster than ever while our ideas, communications, and desire to be eccentric and innovative can lean in the extremes.

MARS ENTERS LIBRA -- Aug 6, 2025

Therefore, Mars in Libra is a bit of a peaceful, social justice warrior. This energy is great for political and social movements and humanitarian or educational efforts. It's especially great for anyone who does social work or therapy/psychology.

TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE IN PISCES -- Sept 7, 2025

There is a Total Lunar Eclipse in Pisces at the 3/4 mark point of the year which is yet another nudge along the Virgo-Pisces axis of our chart to make changes, improvements, and find greater balance between our need for spiritual surrender and belief in a Divine plan vs. our desire for mastery, vision, and organization within our routines, work, health, and skills.

Hours after Winter Solstice begins, the Sun moves into cardinal earth sign of Capricorn bringing our personal aspirations into sharp focus where we begin to approach life with more discipline, responsibility, maturity, and seriousness.

🌲 5 WAYS TO CELEBRATE YULE 🕯

Let me be the first to say that my journey as a Wiccan has not been easy. I’m not all love and light all the time. Celebrating, doing rituals and spells, and generally finding others to commune with as a pagan is difficult as hell.

DECORATE YOUR HOME WITH NATURAL ELEMENTS.

Appropriate natural elements for Yule/Winter Solstice include holly, mistletoe, oak, evergreen, and pine. You can make twig pentacles/pentagrams and DIY wreaths, hang mistletoe, and ivy, or get a pine tree and decorate it. Many Christmas traditions stemmed from pagan ones so you’ll sense a lot of similarities here.

DO A YULE RITUAL.

These rituals can be as simple as meditating by candlelight, welcoming the dawn and thanking Odin/your patron deity for another day.

YULE GIFTING + FEASTING.

Much like Christianity, Yule is a time for spending with family and friends, enjoying a good meal, and exchanging gifts. You can also take this time to donate to charities important to you.

SPELL YULE ORNAMENTS FOR LOVED ONES.

Even if you’re the only pagan/Wiccan you know, you can still spell a few ornaments for friends and family for the season. Your Christian friends will never know you’ve spelled an ornament for them, but you can feel happy knowing you’ve wished them well in this season and gift them something unique that you personally made.

FIND A LOCAL YULE OR WINTER SOLSTICE EVENT.

Much like the other main Sabbats, you may find a few local events celebrating winter solstice and/or yule in your area. A quick google search for “yule events [your nearest metro city]” will usually turn up a few results.

The Full Moon in Gemini opposes the Sun in Sagittarius, exact by degree, which indicates a kind of mental showdown between the lower mind (Gemini) and the higher mind (Sagittarius).

✨ SEASON 2 AWP EPISODE 17 IS LIVE: All About Trines ✨

In this episode of the Astrology Witch Podcast, I discuss all things trines! What is a trine, all planetary trine indications, and information about grand trines!

In astrology, a trine occurs when a 120 degree angle between two planets and typically occurs with two planets of the same element. Trines in astrology indicate a harmonious and helpful connection between houses or planetary energies.

For a trine to occur, the planets will generally be in the same element - water, fire, earth or air, respectively.

Depending on the involved planets, an orb of 5-10 degrees is typically allotted, but the tighter the orb, the more potent the trine will be with the most potent being at 5 degrees or less. Trines are considered to be Jupiterian, in nature, and that means they are usually helpful, expansive, and positive flowing.

Trines are generally considered beneficial aspects as they most often indicate ease, natural ability, luck, opportunity, and effortless movement.

VENUS ENTERS AQUARIUS + NEPTUNE DIRECT TODAY!

Venus moves into fixed, airy Aquarius which brings a bit of logical detachment to our relationships and sense of beauty and pleasure. We may seek greater experimentation, freedom, and even distance within our friendships and romantic relationships during this time. Beauty may take on a more spacey futuristic vibe as well.

Shortly after, Venus will conjoin Pluto in Aquarius as well, underscoring the fixed, detached vibes. The conjunction happens at 0° lending this aspect the most pure essence of Aquarius to express itself in their alignment.

With Venus conjunct Pluto, we can expect love, desire, transformation, regeneration, and even grief. Our deepest passions will play off our desire for belonging, autonomy, depth, distance, love and loss. The New Moon arrives at 9° in the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius on December 1, 2024 at approximately 10:21 PM PST // 1:21 AM EST depending on your location.

The New Moon brings the Sun and Moon into alignment in the sign of the Archer - the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius - where we will focus on our spontaneity, enthusiasm, optimism, adventurous spirit, honest (bluntness, in some cases LOL), being more outspoken, and how we seek further freedom and independence.

During this lunation, we should do our best to be courageous and expand our horizons, gain confidence through adventure and soul searching, and be more optimistic by harnessing a bird's eye view perspective.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate 😛

Fun Fact: The Pilgrims did not invent Thanksgiving and, in fact, have very little to do with the incorporation of our American Thanksgiving - we actually owe it all to a lady named Sarah Hale.

Sarah Hale was basically hella obsessed with making a day of Thanksgiving an official holiday and low key bullied Lincoln into declaring it so.

So, while we should probably drop all the BS lies we were taught about Medieval Pilgrims and Native Americans in school, the spirit of Thanksgiving is lovely all the same and if you choose to celebrate, that's fine :)
