Fifty years ago Jim Whittaker became the first American to summit Everest. I spent yesterday with him and his wife Dianne Roberts shooting for a short doc I'm doing to commemorate the anniversary of the climb. His message is this: take risks, make yourself uncomfortable, get outdoors, and never forget that nature is the greatest teacher of all.
