AIR RAID PEARL HARBOR, THIS IS NOT A DRILL! SHIPS AND PLANES PREPARE FOR AIR ATTACK!

20 years of growing tensions between Imperial Japan and the west over naval rights and resources culminated in the Attack on Pearl Harbor and other European holdings in the Pacific, From Manila to Rabaul to Singapore, the limited war in Europe had finally spiraled into the Second World War.

For 6 months the combined forces of Japan ran wild, capturing not only 1/7th of the worlds mass, but also American territories in Guam , Alaska and the Philippines…..It would not be until Midway in June of 1942 that the tide began to turn, but the long bloody road to Tokyo had just begun…

Today in history!

November 22nd, 1967 -General William Westmoreland, commander of U.S. Military Assistance Command Vietnam, briefs officials at the Pentagon and says that the battle around Dak To was “the beginning of a great defeat for the enemy.”

In the 19 days of the battle in and around Dak To, North Vietnamese fatalities were estimated at 1,455. Total U.S. casualties included 285 killed, 985 wounded, and 18 missing

159 years ago Today General Sherman of the Union Army burned Atlanta to the ground and begin his March to the sea, Entering Savannah just over a month later in December 21st,1864.
