"Just when things went right, it doesn't mean they were always wrong."

In 1987, Nikki Sixx was declared legally dead for two whole minutes before being resuscitated

In 1987, bassist Nikki Sixx was partying in a hotel room with Guns N’ Roses members Steven Adler and Slash and Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby when he fell unconscious after suffering a drug overdose.

Slash’s girlfriend at the time, Sally McLaughlin, is largely responsible for saving Sixx’s life, as she gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while the group waited for the emergency services to arrive. Despite her best efforts, Sixx was declared legally dead for two minutes on the way to the hospital. The EMTs acted quickly and administered adrenaline into his heart which thankfully revived him.

Aerosmith‘s “Livin’ On The Edge” was inspired by the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

This is according to the band’s autobiography, Walk This Way. Steven Tyler also mentions in the book that the song features the sound of a bass drum he stole from his high school. Four loud beats are heard from that drum in a pause between the final verse and chorus.

The song was the first single off their 1993 album, Get A Grip. It reached number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 19 in the UK. The song won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal in 1994.

Did you know... British singer-songwriter and gay rights activist Labi Siffre made Eminem change the lyrics to "My Name Is" when the rapper wanted to sample a distinctive keyboard riff from his 1975 song "I Got The…". The original line — "My English teacher wanted to have s*x in junior high / Only problem was, my English teacher was a guy." — was replaced by the less homophobic "My English teacher wanted to flunk me in junior high/ Thanks a lot — next semester I'll be 35."

Moscow Music Peace Festival: How Glam Metal Helped End the Cold War
Punch-outs, drunken antics and revolution at the 1989 festival where Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne and others rocked for peace and freedom

In the Communist Seventies and Eighties, popular music was repressed in the Soviet Union, and the hunger for it – particularly Western rock & roll – led Russian fans to extreme measures. Black-market records, bootlegs etched into X-rays and even the opportunity to dub cassettes could easily cost fans a hefty chunk of their monthly salaries. And the opportunity to see Western performers in person? Practically nonexistent.

Did you know.... Eminem’s mom filed a $10 million slander lawsuit against him in 1999?

Eminem (Marshall Mathers) insinuated that his mom (Debbie Mathers) does drugs in the lyrics for “My Name Is”. The lawsuit was eventually settled in 2001 for $25,000.

Debbie received only $1,600 after the judge ruled that $23,354.25 of the $25,000 settlement should go to Fred Gibson (her former attorney).

On April 4, 1986, Knight Rider aired its final episode, bringing a strange and abrupt end to one of the '80's most popular TV shows.

The series was the brainchild of Glen A. Larson, the producer behind such hit shows as Magnum P.I., Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and Battlestar Galactica. The TV veteran viewed Knight Rider - with its crime-fighting detective and talking car sidekick - as an updated interpretation of a Hollywood classic.
