751 children. One Residential School.

We have a long road ahead of us. We can’t continue to ignore this. This is heartbreaking beyond words.

The PM’s words weren’t enough. It’s never enough. We need genuine TRUTH and then we must all actively work towards RECONCILIATION.

Homelessness is not a crime.

Yesterday, the City of Toronto sent police to Trinity Bellwoods to evict homeless people from encampments. Instead of doing this, why couldn’t the City properly fund housing and other supports?

This is a prime example of why we need to defund the police and allocate funds to more useful and helpful services.

I can’t believe it took this long to effectively criminalize Conversion Therapy — a harmful and toxic practice.

For those that don’t know: Conversion Therapy is a “widely condemned practice of trying to change someone’s LGBTQ identity to heterosexual.” (Global News)

The recent vote has stirred up some controversy as the 63 votes against the legislation are Conservative, along with one former member who is now an independent.

Conservative leader Erin O’Toole, has a lot to think about. He has been outspoken saying that he is working to modernize the party and that he is pro-choice and supports LGBTQ+ rights — he did in fact vote in favour of this recent legislation, but former leader Andrew Scheer and deputy leader Candice Bergen were among the 62 party members to vote against it.

‘We are all Treaty People’

The recent news of findings of Indigenous children buried in graves around sites of former Residential Schools is a stark reminder that we must fulfill the TRC’s Calls to Action.

Recently, Canada announced that the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is now officially law and made changes to include Indigenous Peoples in Canada’s Oath of Citizenship in order to advance awareness of reconciliation. 🇺🇳 🇨🇦

This is a great start, but we must do more.

We need to prioritize .

How can we move forward if we can’t do the bare minimum for communities? We need to end long term water boil advisories, we need action/results for , we need allow these communities to heal. We must stand by their side and do the real work towards this. I’m tired of standing on the sidelines.

Call out . Have meaningful conversations. Amplify Indigenous voices & issues. Read the Truth and Calls to Action. Educate yourself on Indigenous history, issues, and culture. Let’s work together. We must be better. |

It's time to come together 🇨🇦

We are announcing a new podcast, which asks: What Canada do YOU want to live in in a post-Covid world?

In the midst of a global pandemic that began in 2020, Canadians were forced to think more about who they are and what is important to them. The pandemic has exposed how divided the nation really is, how Canadians treat others and, almost more than ever, sparked further conversations about the social injustices that Canada has been built upon.

We will chat with Canadians about the things they are passionate about and how we can find real solutions to make a positive change in our communities.

Please join us as we embark on this journey to connect Canadians as we look for answers on how we can come out of this better than ever before.

NEW EPISODES COMING SOON.

The pandemic isn't over, but as each day comes and goes, Canada looks to move forward from this catastrophic event and it finally begs the questions: What Canada do YOU want to live in in a post-Covid world?

This conversation with Re-Imagining Canada podcast founder, Nathan Woolridge will explore some of the topics and ideas behind this upcoming podcast.
