Hey you! Yes, you! 🤩 Are you just throwing posts at the wall and hoping something sticks?

Don’t worry-this is how I used to manage my office’s social media platforms too. I am here to use my 15+ years in pediatric dentistry and marketing to help you create a plan that will have your community buzzing about your practice. 🙋🏼‍♀️🐝💛

Here are a few of the tools I use in my monthly content strategy sessions:

💛 Blank Calendar: Print out a couple of copies of a blank monthly calendar.

💛 Pens/highlighter: I am a total pen nerd 🤓 and I like to color code so I always have a stash with me, including sharpies.

💛 Post-its: I use these throughout the planning process to move items around until I have a permanent home for them.

💛 Saved Ideas: I frequently save ideas and articles to a folder. I review that info and incorporate it into our content pillars.

💛 Time: Block out time out of your schedule-I normally block out half a day per month. I also try to get out of the office and go to a local coffee shop or other co-working space. (This part has been difficult during the pandemic.)

Warning: Nerd alert 🤓🚨

If you know anything about me, you know that I love Marvel. I love their movies, the Disney+ shows, and Captain Marvel is my Shero-just give me all the Marvel things! What you may not know is that all superheroes have an origin story. I thought it was only fitting to create my own origin story for how The Smile Hive became “a thing”!

Here is the quick version:
When I became the Marketing Coordinator for my current practice, I was frustrated that I kept running into stock content. Like you, I signed up with different “cookie-cutter” agencies and our content looked like everyone else’s. I knew I wanted something unique & customized to our specific community. Over the last few years I have developed a system that works and I decided I could no longer keep it a secret.

The Hex Framework is my signature method to help create authentic connections within your community that will have your local area buzzing about your practice.

I’ve been keeping a secret 🤫 & it’s almost time for the big reveal 🥳.

I built this project with the guidance of Whitney Hickman with . (seriously y'all she is amazing and her course was 🔥!) I put a teaser up a bit ago about the site but for those of you who know me, you already know that I had to cross every “t” & dot every “i”. I want to make sure this is a true reflection of my passion for helping pediatric dentists create authentic relationships with their community. This is my pledge to you to take the same care & concern for your practice as we work together using my signature methods to gain & retain new patients.

Does your content plan include educational & promotional emails to community members outside of your practice?

You can create a connection with your community without them actually being patients of your practice. Building an email marketing database through MailChimp, ConvertKit, Flodesk or other email marketing software can generate leads & referrals for your practice.

By sending emails that provide educational & promotional content you can establish the following:

🦷 Direct Access to your audience
🦷 A loyal group of raving fans
🦷 Builds authority & trust

Hey y’all! 👋🏻 I’m Amy Morgan 🙋🏼‍♀️ and I help pediatric dental offices grow 🌱 their patient volume through social media. 🦷

I started The Smile Hive because I was tired of seeing marketing techniques for dental offices that didn’t line up with our mission. There are a lot of great dental marketing companies out there but none were catering to my specific needs. I googled “dental marketing ideas for pediatric dentists” and turned up no results. I would go to Pinterest for new ideas and there was nothing. Sure I could find ideas for general offices and other adult offices but those ideas don’t always translate over to pediatric offices; A 5-year old doesn’t need bleaching trays and last time I checked 7-year old children aren’t calling to make their own dental appointments. I even attended conferences specifically for pediatric dentistry and most of the ideas were dull & boring.

I had to start from scratch and create a marketing strategy all on my own. It has taken years to build and now I want to come along side you and help your practice grow and become the “go-to” pediatric dental office in your community.

Posting pics of your office and your patients on social media shouldn’t be your only marketing strategy! 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Man, I am so glad I got that off my chest...now what?!

A great content strategy should definitely include these things but shouldn’t be limited to these types of posts exclusively. Yes, you should be posting your “why” and “your story” but becoming the “go-to” practice in your area also requires community relationships and partnerships. When you build trust with your community, you will have more raving fans talking about your practice which leads to more new patients. It’s time to think outside the dental box!

Think about the last wedding you attended...they probably had a wedding hashtag. The way you found this post may have been from a hashtag. Your favorite brand probably has a hashtag. None of these hashtags were just written out of nowhere-they were researched and created to draw you into the experience of the brand.

A true social media strategy includes hashtag research. You should be researching to find and create hashtags that are unique to your practice, as well as your community. Remember-you are marketing and selling yourself to the parents within your community. You should be researching those places to find the hashtags they are using to help draw your ideal patient to your practice.

If you take care of the people in your community, then the rest will take care of itself.

As a marketing director for a large pediatric dental group, I struggle with being able to show ROI (Return on investment) for many of our marketing campaigns. I watch our social media accounts closely but I can’t always correlate engagement on social to bringing in new patients. Social is not our only marketing resource. We have commercials on television and in local theaters. We even have a billboard. True ROI is not what it is about for me, it is important but can’t always be measured in actual numbers.

My strategy is to connect with parents & community partners through my marketing efforts.

Our commercials are produced by a local video marketing agency-not the television station.

Our theaters are locally owned. (Drive-In)

Our billboard is a donation/fundraiser for a local high school football team.

Pouring into your community is the key to your practice growth.

One of the biggest hurdles I have dealt with in my search for dental marketing ideas is knowing what to post. Many pediatric practices struggle with content that is relevant to their ideal audience: PARENTS!

Here are 5 quick ideas to help you get started:

🦷 Before and Afters: Show off those anterior crowns-you worked hard on them. (If you are a hospital dentist: this is the best time to get great photos of your dental work. Make sure to clear this with the parent.)

🦷 Staff Appreciation: Do you have a new team member or a staff member celebrating a work anniversary? Snap a pic and let them know how proud you are to have them on your team.

🦷 Reviews and Testimonials: Use what parents are saying about your practice-post a fun graphic with the review included.

🦷 Educational: This one is a personal fave and the go-to in my practice. Parents love to learn about taking care of their kids. Post a fun graphic or a short “how to” video on proper brushing techniques.

🦷 Yourself: Parents want to see you and get to know you inside and outside of the practice. Share a fun outing or even a fun picture of you when you were younger.

Happy Monday, Y’all ! This is actually my favorite day of the week because it is the day I feel the most energized to work on my content for the week. I refine my plans on Mondays and make sure everything is scheduled and ready to go. I always have a monthly plan and quarterly goals, but you can also take this one week at a time if that is easier for you to get started.

With Halloween just around the corner, your content plan should revolve around limiting sweets 🍭, introducing extra brushing & flossing sessions 🦷, & reminding parents about good alternatives to candy for them to pass out as well🎃.

We all know we don’t like being the bad guy at Halloween so try to keep it fun!

Hey y’all. Welcome to The Smile Hive! I am Amy Morgan & I am excited to bring my 15+ years of experience to you. I have worked in pediatric dentistry since 2005. I have held numerous positions within the same practice, which include, but we all know is not limited to: Dental Assistant, Hospital Coordinator, Orthodontic Finance Coordinator, & now Marketing Coordinator (my fave).

I have been using social media to connect our patients, parents, & community partners with our practice since 2010. I am also a member of our admin team & continue to push our practice forward with innovative systems, including overseeing our office’s practice management system & implementing COVID protocols & procedures.

I will continue to work full time doing the things that I love for the practice that has my heart forever & hope to bring that same love of developing authentic relationships with patients, parents, & community partners to your practice.
