While Cassandra’s on the northern side of the Sorrento Peninsula, Laura is based in Amalfi on the southern side. It’s this southern side that is called the Amalfi Coast. We’re so close now! And we’re excited to record episodes of the Rediscover Italy podcast both in Italy and hopefully soon also in the same location! 🎙

Co-Host Cassandra is back in Italy for her 6 month adventure! And she has ventured off her typical temporary home of Atrani to create a new summer base. This time in Sorrento.

While many know the main Corso (street) of this seaside town it’s often forgotten that this city dates back to 600 BC. And if you know where to look you can still find Roman ruins. There is also a historical fishing village (blessed by wonderful memories of films with Sophia Loren), orange trees lining the streets and wonderful undiscovered scenic location and nature escapes just a boat ride away.

While we touched in this last episode we sure will be chatting about this area again in the near future! In the meantime be sure to following along on our stories for updates in between broadcasts.

And yes this phot was from this week and Cassandra did go swimming! Have you taken a dip in these beautiful waters?

It was only a few years ago that we discovered this interesting fact about tramezzini. These are the sandwiches made on white bread and without the crust that are often served during aperitivo or found in bars throughout Italy.

We discovered they were invented in 1925 in the city of Torino.

So naturally I (Cassandra) had to go to the exact bar it was said to be created and experience this delightful snack all over again.

This is why we love Italy. A simple sandwich has a history dating back decades.

How amazing is it that no matter what city or region in Italy we visiting there is always a way to step back in time. There is always a story.

Out a curiosity how many people knew that the sandwich was called a tramezzino or invented in Torino?

But we hope on our last episode with you learned that there is life beyond tourism in Italy. And it exist especially in these touristic cities such as Venice.

All you have to do is what Allison recommended during the show. Put the phone down and take in the experience. Look people in the eye and start a conversation. The locals are interested in knowing you and are proud of their cities and how far they have come.

Will you join us in this movement?
If so leave a 🇮🇹. Now that travel is returning let’s look at the country with new eyes.

Let’s in the most wonderful way... with a open heart.

While we continue to record from different time zones, I (co-host Cassandra) am soon making my way back to Italy! I am excited to be in the same place as Laura. And enthusiastic for that refreshing lemon granita, a delicious plate of local alici and aperitivo with friends throughout the country.

My list of “to-dos” (in a safe and efficient way) is long! We are working hard in the travel industry to organize everything properly for the official opening of borders (which we hope will be sooner than later).

What the first place you visit or your go to food upon arrival in Italia?

With my return means we can bring even more of Italia to you at home. Stay tuned.
