Buried In Trash Not necessarily the underbelly of pop culture but definitely some side-belly at best. Celebrating the more exploitive of cinematic and artistic endeavors.

When there were only a few tv stations they had to seriously up even their Tuesday night game.

Bringing in Bradford Dillman as a ringer like that? Dang, ABC. Stop bullying.

Make a run for the weekend and don’t let anyone get in your way.

They did not, in fact, kill that “Indian son of a bitch”.

If there’s one thing to learn from watching the 1985 masterpiece of filmmaking that is called Malibu Express it’s that 4 Pl***oy Playmates would not be enough, 6 might be too many, but 5 Pl***oy Playmates in your 1985 masterpiece of filmmaking that is called Malibu Express is perfection. It’s the amount of Pl***oy Playmates what Goldilocks picked!

Masked up and taking the day head-on before it was the thing to do.

Manowar Mondays are definitely not a thing.

Are they?

No. No way.

“If there’s one thing tougher than being The Mack, it’s staying The Mack!”

No worries on that front, man. The title will always be yours.

Rest in power, Goldie.

Keep an eye on your pizza guy, respectfully.

Shout outs to the “Seasonal Help” workers out there right now.

Any way you do it, there’s gonna be magic to it.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hiatus no more!

After a transplants of states I have unpacked enough to resume transmitting the trash.

Let’s get weird.

On today’s episode of Gene Siskel: Fun Police

Listen as Gene’s Anti-Fun Response system is cleverly triggered when fellow funless conspirator Roger Ebert waxes poetic about how much fun he didn’t have watching the amazing and now-legendary film Phantasm, missing yet another mark in a long and illustrious career of missing marks.

Joysticks (1983)

If you ever needed an hour and twenty-eight minutes of “How do you do, fellow kids?” then this is the movie for you.

Back before there was an internet to ruin nudity and s*x, you could get an entire film funded with the story premise of a nerd seeing a b**b.

If there is one lesson to be learned here it’s that if two women ask you if you work at the video arcade, you say yes. Hilarity-ish will follow.

Viva la video to the max.

Private Parts (1972)

Cult movie legend Paul Bartel dips his directorial hat into the “psycho s*xual” genre.

“Cheryl is a lovely girl… but to George, she’s a living doll.”

Shin'ichi “Sonny” Chiba (1939-2021)

Absolute legend.

Rest in power, Sir, and thank you for decades of hard work to entertain us.

In horror story history, Sally Hardesty and her brother Franklin (along with her friends Pam, Jerry, and Kirk) took a trip to visit their grandfather’s grave when their van ran out of gas on that sweltering summer day of August 18th, 1973…

Some artists aim to remain timeless with their creations and then there’s this.

David Naughton would find himself with much better roles over the following few years, but his singing on the theme song had way better legs than the show did.

“What was television really like in the 70s?”
Well, John Travolta was so hot that people started hiring his mom.

Yeah.

With the copyright auto-police snagging my first attempt, I will take to these devices yet again with this clip.

Happy Birthday to Steve Martin, born on this day in 1945.

Also: Do yourself a favor and look up “Steve Martin El Paso” for it was the subject of all the water cooler and playground talk of February 1980.

Ben (1972)

This sequel to Willard (1971) sees the vengeful rat Ben befriend a young boy with heart problems. All is fine and rat-dandy until Ben’s league of rodents becomes a tad nasty (as leagues of rodents tend to do) and all hell breaks loose.

“Could a killer rat sequel to a movie about a messed up guy befriending rats ever be nominated for an Oscar or win a Golden Globe?” nobody asked me.

“You’re goddamned right it could.” I say to no one.

“Ben’s Song” was written by Don Black and Walter Scharf with vocals by a 13 year old somebody or other named Michael Jackson. Yeah, I’ve never heard of him either, but the song was a huge hit and you’re celebrating a killer rat movie from the 70s every time it plays.

You’re welcome.
