How's everyone doing with their goals?

What has been your biggest struggle?

I'm trying to come up with a consistent workout schedule, which i will be sure to share. Also some kind of log to track my weight amounts. I need to be sure I'm moving up to keep showing progress.

There are days I think it'll be week 52 before I get this all figured out and maybe not even then 😆

First 10 days of 2024 I have been on a detox.
That included clean eating, only plant protein, increasing water and no vitamins (3 steps).

Now day 11- going forward I'm able to implement my full routine of supplements, exercise, and eating to fuel and build my muscle 💪

I hope to share helpful information overall but especially for women dealing with menopause issues.

We all know adding weight around your middle is a big problem for women in their menopause stage.

I've read things on intermittent fasting, increasing magnesium, calcium, fiber, and protein. Goodness, I've read so much and just trying to make sense of it all.

I'm not going to "restrict" my diet just yet. I may take a day to enjoy a pizza or a cupcake from my favorite local bakery... but I may tweak that if I find it's truly impacting my progress.

Here's to learning, growing and being the best I can be in 2024!

You know what can be difficult.... I don't have ANY moments in my fitness journey where I feel I've crossed the finish line!!!!

THAT'S SAYING A LOT QUITE HONESTLY 😳

I started this journey 10 YEARS AGO and I'm still going.... S T I L L G O I N G !!!!

Why not give up????
So many reasons but here's a few key ones....

1. ITS A LIFESTYLE!
It has to become a lifestyle.... you must eventually look at it all as a health journey!

Not to just lose weight. Not just for the summer swimsuit. Not just for the smaller jean size.

It's to FEEL INCREDIBLE FOR YOUR AGE. To feel STRONG and CAPABLE. To fuel your body with purpose driven ingredients to fight signs of aging.

What you put into your body matters.
Water, protein, fiber and so on. Can't get it all crammed into meals and snacks... supplement... don't skimp!

2. Give me one good thing that comes from quitting or stopping????
Going back .... losing all progress 😵‍💫

Brain fog, forgetfulness, snack crackle pop getting out of bed, dry skin, cracked heels, thinning hair, leg cramps at night, being winded carrying a laundry basket or walking up steps, ZERO ENERGY, poor sleep..... and this could take all night to finish (you get the point)

Our bodies send us signals..... vitamin deficiencies, poor food choices, things our bodies just naturally stop producing at different stages of life..... I just do what I can to minimize the impact or replace what's depleted..... I could stop but in my mind there is not one good reason!

3. I LOVE surprising myself!!!
When I can do things in my fifties I couldn't in my 40's or even 30's 🥰

I don't like the word NEVER (because only God knows what my future holds) but I just don't see me giving up on trying to look and feel better on the daily... or helping others look and feel better and improving their lives.

Do I have days I whine and moan or feel less enthusiastic... SURE I DO..... but I'm learning to go after it with vision and determination not just how I feel that day.

👉Your feelings really have a way of setting you up for failure if you let them.

🤷‍♀️ Just sayin... I did years and years of the whole excuses thing... it got me nowhere!
Well actually it got me over 200 lbs and feeling like garbage every day fighting my body daily.

Just if you have a number in your head and you think to yourself "if I can just hit that number I'll be happy" .... YOU WILL MISS OUT on so much!!!

Don't make it about a number on the scale.... make it a JOURNEY!!!

How good can you really feel?

How can you surprise yourself?

How can you show up for yourself despite how you feel?

And if you just took away the "finish line" and instead focused on taking that first step.... and then the next..... and then the next

You might actually find answers to all those questions for yourself 🩷

I have my bad days. I have days I don't "see" the results I want. I can choose to give into those feelings or choose not to.

Every new day we get that choice!

Oh my goodness so much to share with you all. Things I'm trying, results I'm seeing, but most of all how I am feeling both stronger and better overall 🥰

I did add in some new supplements.
Increased protein and water intake.
Staying more consistent with (30 mins) exercise 3-4 times per week.

It was Jan 2014 when I started my wellness journey. At that time I was well over 200 lbs, working 2 jobs, struggling daily burning the candle at both ends so to speak.

I was tired of being tired, dealing with gut issues, and the lack of energy and focus was a daily battle!

I was amazed how quickly my body FELT different.... fog lifted, energy back without feeling wired, gut health finally getting on track and cravings were finally under control.

I took that new found energy and funneled it into gym workouts and then a true outside transformation was visible for all to see, even though the inside transformation had started long before it.

Once I hit my goal weight, I admit I got distracted, goals changed,or simply put "life happened" yet I happily maintained.

Then life really turned upside down
2019 relocated to new state and became an empty nester
2020 well that just hit us all hard
2021- 2022 I struggled through various female issues crossing over into my fifties.
2022 complete hysterectomy
2023 finding my way through all the things like this crazy economy and life of menopause 😆

Through it all I stand strong in my faith.
I refuse to give in even in my darkest moments. I know through every struggle is an opportunity to GROW as a person and in faith. As it is said, when I am weak he is strong 🙏

Why keep going?
Well I just don't think my story ends here. I feel it, I have more to learn and prove to myself.
Why... because I want to be the grandma that runs in the backyard with my grandchildren not just sit and read a book... which I love, I just want to be able to do both.
Because after I read more and more on the issue, at my age you lose muscle mass every year.... if you're not fighting it, you are losing it, period!

I don't do this to be skinny... I do it to be STRONG 💪 although looking and feeling good in my clothes (and skin) is a plus 🥰

I don't have it all figured out... not even close! I will stumble guaranteed but what's also guaranteed (God willing) I will get back up 🙌 and be THANKFUL for the opportunity ! This body and I have been though quite a lot over the last 52 years but I'm doing my best to show it more love and appreciation ❤️

Finding ways to increase my protein and learning that smaller portions does not have to mean feeling hungry or going without!

I've also added in a few more supplements to fine tune areas like gut health, muscle building and retention, as well as help with reaching my fruit and veggies goals for the day if I'm missing the mark!

These are all the things I'm doing outside of exercise to lean out and build muscle. 😁

Empty Nesters....
No doubt, being a parent is a huge calling on our lives.

It took most of your time and energy for so many years. However, it’s not the only calling you will have.

Adjusting to life without kids at home is hard in the beginning. There are a lot of emotions to process and tears to be shed.

However, if we dwell in the sadness and what we’ve lost we will never be able to embrace what there is to gain.

Now is a great time to look ahead and embrace the next chapter of this life.

Build a new kind of relationship with your now adult children.

Try something brand new or give attention to those things you once put on hold while raising the kids.

There may still be feelings of loss, but hopefully with time it will get easier.
