I had the pleasure of taking part in a Zoom meeting with a growing client and their team. While it's easy to just focus on product, the discussion evolved into helping them figure out their "secret sauce" and working with them to learn what their make or break was and how to use this information to sell more. B At the end of the day, taking that time to help them succeed benefits both of us.
Reframe your idea of how you provide value to your clients, because sometimes the out-of-the-box ideas are what help solidify those business relationships.

Looking back on this past month, May 2024 was truly epic. We planned and executed a trip of a LIFETIME! 235 years of collective birthdays were celebrated in London, including my incredible Mom's milestone 80th. I feel so lucky to be part of the best family on Earth. We laughed, we loved, we witnessed, we learned (and we ate TOO much!)

Securing a big account is 🚫 NOT just about the product your selling.
Every component of your business factors into your client's decision to work with you vs. a competitor. You could have the best product in the industry, but if you are failing on the billing end (or the shipping, or the communication, etc) and causing your customers headaches they won't stay your customers for long.
Do not keep your focus narrow - be sure you're looking at the big picture. Ensure that every piece of your team is servicing your clients effectively AND efficiently.

In our business, we move FAST - short 15-minute check-ins can be game-changers. If you have something you need to go over - with a boss or employee, a vendor, a client - don't let long, tedious meetings drain your productivity.
Opt for shorter, focused check-ins instead. Not only is this easier on all our busy schedules (and much more likely for them to say yes!), it will allow you to keep discussion focused and more efficient, and lead to quicker decision-making. And we go faster, we grow faster.

Seed planting 🌱 and bringing people together is a mix of work and pleasure for me, and has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my journey.
I started the #LadyBoss movement because I recognize the value in sharing information and growing collaborations and networks - I believe it is the single biggest differentiator as we go through our life. It's how we get things done more quickly, and how we create fulfillment.
I was lucky enough to create and host an event last week - an excuse, really, to bring friends and acquaintances together to network and expose them to something new and different. I have come to learn that giving experiences to people is one of the most important and satisfying rolls I can play at this stage. It feels like the WOW 😮 and AH HA's 😃 made during this event will morph into something BIG! I am honored to know people who bring such wisdom and charm to these parties, and make these evenings so special and memorable.

Don't Miss An Opportunity 🚫
Sometimes, opportunities present themselves in different ways than we might expect. A year after I sold my company, it doubled - but there are a lot of factors that went in to why and how it doubled, and I don't regret making that choice because it opened me up to other new and exciting opportunities.
There is no such thing as a guarantee in life, and you can't always predict what the future holds. Do you take the resources and reinvest? Do you wait it out? Timing is everything when it comes to selling your business, and there will always be those who say "But you should've... If you only..." Just remember that the path that's right is the path that's right for you.

What is YOUR communication style?
Effective communication is an absolute must for any well-oiled business and it's something I am working on every single day. Everyone has different ways of receiving and understanding information - verbal, kinesthetic, written, visual. As a leader, it can be really hard to find that balance on what works for you, for your team as a whole, and what works for each of the individual players.
I HIGHLY recommend making sure you always utilize at least two different ways of communicating important info tailored to the person receiving it - for example, recapping in writing a conversation you had in person - so you can make sure everyone is on the same page.

One month after the release of my book "Lady Boss Blueprint", I now have a new title - best selling author.
I don't say this to brag - I say it because it is a reminder (to me too!) that we can do ANYTHING we set our mind to. So many wonderful people have asked me to sign their books, and I kind of giggle and think "why would they want that?" This was something that was very scary and uncomfortable for me to do. Writing this book gives you a peek into who I am, and that's not something I share lightly. So being able to have so many people send me these photos of them receiving and reading my book feels like such a gift.
But one of the biggest outcomes of putting myself out there was being asked to join, and subsequently becoming a part of EWA, the Exceptional Women's Alliance. This weekend is launch weekend, and this new path for me includes some exciting connections through EWA.

Keep seeking out those speaking events, look for collaboration with other authors and influencers, and participate not just in book lectures and signings, but in other out-of-the-box appearances that will allow you to share your passion with a new audience. Trish pioneered a collegiate curriculum on how to improve the psychological resilience of founders as a means of improving start-up success rates. Currently, she is faculty teaching her entrepreneurship model at Northwestern University, and was the former Director of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Lake Forest College. A food-loving, vibrant, connector of people, Trish is mom to six boys and is extraordinarily grateful when someone else makes dinner – especially if every body can eat it!
Nichole previously lead the R&D strategic planning process for PepsiCo’s $33B food portfolio, crafted Frito-Lay’s first Environmental Sustainability Strategy, pioneered alliances between M&A and R&D to create platforms to invest in smaller companies, like Sabra and Spitz, and managed the top tier brands Doritos and Fritos. She began her career in investment banking, and most recently led the $40MM investment portfolio for Chicago Beyond. A mother of two, Nichole’s family has experience with dietary restrictions that she believes should not define them. Determined and unafraid of what others call “impossible,” she uses her super powers to find unexpected solutions to big problems worth solving.
