BREAKING NEWS: The Council of States has written to President Salva Kiir Mayardit to remove the Governor of Unity State, Dr. Joseph Nguen Monytuil.

This comes after the Upper House on Monday passed a vote-of-no-confidence against Dr. Monytuil, and asked him to resign, or be removed through a presidential decree, for allegedly failing to curtail insecurity in the oil-rich state.

The legislature said the governor did not prevail over the incidents of deadly violence, including the atrocities in Leer County in April, killing of Mayom County Commissioner and the extrajudicial ex*****on of armed military officers early this month.

Three South Sudanese youth died on spot after being hit by a speeding car along Ngong Road, Nairobi Kenya, late evening on Friday 19/8/22

As you can see, 2 guys were fighting while 3 other boys were trying to separate them. Out of the blues, a speed car ran into them and didn't bother to stop after hitting them.

We are not sure whether the incident is being followed up but we believe the authorities may do something as from Monday.

We are sending our sincere condolences to the families of the bereaved.
May those who perished rest in eternal peace 🙏🙏

Miss Josphine was shot while walking on the street of Konyokonyo, Juba City.

~The person behind the shooting was a policeman.

Josphine is currently under treatment at the Juba Teaching Hospital.

DEVELOPING: An armed ambush along the Juba-Nimule highway has left seven dead and others unaccounted for, Tuesday morning.

Witness recounts that civilians fled into the bushes after unknown gunmen opened fire on passenger vehicles along the restive highway.

The taxi driver, who was leaving Nimule for Juba, told Eye Radio, he rerouted back to Nimule when he saw the chaotic scene.

The police have not yet commented on the incident.

Two arrested in Konyokonyo protest over cost of living

Security personnel in Juba have allegedly arrested two youth, who briefly staged a peaceful protest against high cost of living in the country.

The handful of protesters took to the street on Sunday afternoon, holding posters such as “We cannot manage water and sugar now! We cannot afford bread now! and Save our lives from hyperinflation.”

Others protested high transport fare and fuel price.

The young people were also demanding the unity government to address youth unemployment and insecurity.

According to some of the protesters, they were chased away by the security personal while protesting at Konyokonyo market.

“We organized the protest and when we were trying to move in Konyokonyo market, the policemen as well as the national security arrive and they caught two of our people,” said one of the protestors whose name Eye Radio withheld on safety ground.

He said the officers shot in the air to disperse them, adding that the whereabouts of the two young men is not known.

“One of the security organ who came and shot in the air and later on he caught my brother. So, we are urging the security organ whether national security or the Ministry of Interior who have apprehended them to release them.”

Efforts to get a comment from the South Sudan National Police Service were not immediately successful.

His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday presided over the swearing in ceremony of Hon. Dier Tong Ngor as the Minister of Finance and Planning.

The oath-taking was administered in the Office of the President by Justice Chan Reech Madut , the Chief Justice.

Hon. Dier Tong Ngor was appointed by H. E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit with a Republican Decree on 4th August 2022.

BEAUTY WITH BRAIN: Meet Juliet Yaiya, an orphan who defied all the odds to become lawyer

Ten years ago, Juliet Yaiya, an orphan, never would have believed that her dreams of becoming a lawyer were within reach after losing her parents to a plane crash. Because of determination and support from family members and friends, she graduated from law school this month to become a lawyer and advocate at Kenyan High Court.

Juliet Yaiya Mangok Kuot, a Mount Kenya University School of Law graduate, has passed her bar exams in Nairobi at the Kenya School of law.

Juliet's training at Kenyan High Court will enable her to deliver services at South Sudan's High Court, an achievement she is celebrating today as she has finally sealed her future as a lawyer.

A daughter of late John Mangok Kuot and Teresa Anyang Dimo Aleu, Juliet is excited to follow in her parents' humanitarian and educational traditions.

Juliet is excited to work alongside her elder sister, a lawyer with offices in Juba and Nairobi in Kenya.

"She is joining with her older sister Jackeline Akuot Mangok to practice commercial, criminal, and human rights law in Juba and Nairobi," a source close to Juliet told HIJ.

Juliet is grateful to her husband, Barnaba Bol Nyuol, a diplomat at South Sudan embassy in Nairobi, and to their three sons, Joc, Nyuol, and Yac, for the support she received at home while pursuing her studies.

Juliet wants to bring her new accomplishment to South Sudan, where her services are much needed.

BREAKING NEWS: President Salva Kiir has sacked the Minister of Finance and Planning Agak Acuil in a presidential decree on Thurdsay evening.

Kiir also relieved the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Moses Makur Deng, and directed the Bank's first deputy as the acting governor.

In a separate decree, Kiir appointed Dier Tong Ngor as the new Minister of Finance. Dier Tong is a former Governor of the Central Bank.
