Srinagar (10-11 - 2020): Employees Joint Action Committee Jammu & Kashmir (EJAC) held its General Council Meeting at Kashmir Haat, Srinagar under the chair of its president, Mr Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam. The meeting was graced by all the members by their kind presence. The meeting highlighted that the EJAC led by Mr Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam is the largest representative organization of employees and is the biggest amalgam of almost 50 elected employee unions/associations/forums which have been working for the welfare of the employees for the last 30 years. This EJAC led by Mr Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam is the real representative union having strong hold at grass root level working for the welfare and safe guarding the rights of the entire employee fraternity and has resolved many issues of the employees. The meeting made it vehemently clear that the Employees Joint Action Committee is not holding any election and there should not be any confusion as the organization is pursuing its agenda under the dynamic and honest leadership of its president Mr Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam. It was also put forth that the constitution of EJAC is in making under the supervision of Dr. Manzoor and the elections will take place after its completion. Besides that, Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam has also won the vote of trust in the general council meeting held on 25-08-2020 in which 42 unions/associations had participated.
It was also impressed upon all the leaders to make the organization more strong and vibrant so that disgruntled elements may not harm the cause of employees. The meeting asked the government to revisit the amendment made in C S R in article 226 (2) and government should appreciate their services rather than harass them by harsh and anti employee actions. The leaders with one voice asked the government to revoke such orders so that misgivings and apprehensions are removed.
The meeting held thorough discussion on the issue of temporary workers and employees and criticized the government for the stepmotherly treatment meted out to these employees. The government was urged to settle their issues once for all and a policy be formulated for their regularisation at the earliest so that they and their families could heave a sigh of relief in these challenging and hard times.
The other important issues of the employees came also under heavy discussion and the government was appealed to resolve all the already conceded issues without resorting to delay dallying tactics .
Mr Shabnam emphasized upon all the leaders to work in unison for the welfare of the employees and strengthen the EJAC at block /Zonal /tehsil/district levels so that issues of employees are resolved. The leaders were also advised to inform the grass root level leaders and general employees about the functioning and achievements of the EJAC. The meeting ended with a note of thanks.
