Adopt comprehensive policy for regularisation of daily wagers : Inam Un Nabi to JK Govt.

Srinagar, November 15: Prominent Social Activist and National TV Debater Inam Un Nabi has urged the Lt Governor of J&K, Shri Manoj Sinha for adopting a comprehensive policy for regularisation of daily wagers and casual labourers employed in various JK govt. departments .

In a statement issued here today, Inam Un Nabi solicited attention of Lt Governor towards delayed regularization of daily wagers of govt. Departments who are unnecessarily being pushed from pillar to post for their genuine demands including permanent absorption and release of pending wages.

Inam Un Nabi asserted that good number of such employees who have been working relentlessly in various departments like PHE, Tourism, Fisheries, Horticulture, PDD, Forest, CAMPA workers, Wildlife, Command Area Development, Education, Irrigation, Agriculture, Health & Medical Education, Youth Service & sports and R&B for the last over two decades. Unfortunately, the successive governments have utterly failed to address their genuine demands, compelling them to go for frequent strikes, Inam added.

Inam emphasized even today, when the whole world was battling a deadly disease like COVID-19, these temporary employees were engaged in public service, risking their lives.

“The Government should regularize their services because majority of them have completed more than 7 years of services,” Inam said.

Inam Un Nabi also demanded that minimum wage act should be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir so that these casual labourers and daily wagers should get the honorable wages. Inam emphasized the need for adopting a comprehensive policy for regularisation of daily wagers and casual labourers employed in various departments in J&K.

Inam further demanded that till their regularization, the government should not only release wages of all such hapless workers but also enhance the same as per the Minimum Wages Act in vogue across the country

holds General Council Meeting.

should resolve all the already conceded issues of employees and regularise all the temporary employees and workers. (Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam President EJAC).

Srinagar (10-11 - 2020): Employees Joint Action Committee Jammu & Kashmir (EJAC) held its General Council Meeting at Kashmir Haat, Srinagar under the chair of its president, Mr Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam. The meeting was graced by all the members by their kind presence. The meeting highlighted that the EJAC led by Mr Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam is the largest representative organization of employees and is the biggest amalgam of almost 50 elected employee unions/associations/forums which have been working for the welfare of the employees for the last 30 years. This EJAC led by Mr Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam is the real representative union having strong hold at grass root level working for the welfare and safe guarding the rights of the entire employee fraternity and has resolved many issues of the employees. The meeting made it vehemently clear that the Employees Joint Action Committee is not holding any election and there should not be any confusion as the organization is pursuing its agenda under the dynamic and honest leadership of its president Mr Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam. It was also put forth that the constitution of EJAC is in making under the supervision of Dr. Manzoor and the elections will take place after its completion. Besides that, Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam has also won the vote of trust in the general council meeting held on 25-08-2020 in which 42 unions/associations had participated.

It was also impressed upon all the leaders to make the organization more strong and vibrant so that disgruntled elements may not harm the cause of employees. The meeting asked the government to revisit the amendment made in C S R in article 226 (2) and government should appreciate their services rather than harass them by harsh and anti employee actions. The leaders with one voice asked the government to revoke such orders so that misgivings and apprehensions are removed.

The meeting held thorough discussion on the issue of temporary workers and employees and criticized the government for the stepmotherly treatment meted out to these employees. The government was urged to settle their issues once for all and a policy be formulated for their regularisation at the earliest so that they and their families could heave a sigh of relief in these challenging and hard times.

The other important issues of the employees came also under heavy discussion and the government was appealed to resolve all the already conceded issues without resorting to delay dallying tactics .

Mr Shabnam emphasized upon all the leaders to work in unison for the welfare of the employees and strengthen the EJAC at block /Zonal /tehsil/district levels so that issues of employees are resolved. The leaders were also advised to inform the grass root level leaders and general employees about the functioning and achievements of the EJAC. The meeting ended with a note of thanks.

raised the regularization demand of daily rated workers of Jammu and Kashmir #

Rajouri:- Bhartiya Janta Yuva morcha DIST Vice president Arslan Malik raised the regularization demand of daily rated workers of Jammu and Kashmir,

“There are over one lakh such employees in J&K working as daily wagers, permanent daily wagers, need based, contingency paid and NYC who have been working relentlessly in various departments like PHE, PDD, Forest, CAMPA workers, Wild Life, Command Area Development, Education, Irrigation, Agriculture and R&B for the last over two decades. Unfortunately, the successive governments have utterly failed to address their genuine demands, compelling them to go for frequent strikes,” Arslan Malik observed.

Arslan Malik said nearly 6000 NYC qualified youth who were engaged by the government through district recruitment boards are working in various departments with a hope to get absorbed in the government sector permanently.

Arslan Malik said that these workers are being paid meagre wages that too not on time. “How does the government expect these poor employees to run their day-to-day family affairs without wages and rising inflation?”
Arslan Malik urging the Lieutenant Governor G.c Murmu to intervene into the matter and invite all representatives of various associations to find a lasting solution to their problems.

He said that the government should come up with a comprehensive policy to get these youth along with other daily rated workers, casual labourers and need based workers regularized so as to enable them to earn a dignified livelihood and feed their families accordingly.
