Racing Simulators are of high value!

It all just depends on how you perceive it, as a tool or as a toy

The choice is yours!

Wolff shared that his seven-year-old son, despite never physically racing on a specific Italian track, was the fastest during an event because he had “driven” it virtually on his simulator.

“My son is seven years old. He has a kart simulator at home. He races against others online. Then we took part in a race there. He goes onto the track and is immediately the fastest.

Then he said to me: ‘I know the track.’ I reply: ‘Yes, but only in the simulator.’ He says again: ‘I’m telling you, I’ve been here before.’”

Reflecting on this, Wolff noted:

“What do we conclude from this? Young people no longer differentiate between reality and the virtual world.”

Wolff acknowledged Max Verstappen’s heavy involvement in sim racing as an effective training method, citing the Dutch driver’s use of virtual races like Daytona and the 24-hour races.

However, he believes older drivers may struggle to adapt to such practices:

“The graphics are now so good and young people’s minds work differently. Normally, this type of training should be recommended to every driver.

The older ones will probably find it a bit more difficult. And maybe it doesn’t work for everyone like it does for Max.”
