Free Commercial Diving C.V. template.

I made a video on YouTube a while back about writing an industry specific Diving C.V. and offered two free .doc templates to those who were interested.

If you would like a copy of these, email me at [email protected] and I'll reply with the files.
There are two versions that cover both experienced divers and new entrants into the industry.

I would also recommend checking out the short video I made to get an overview on how it's set out and why.

FAQ.

Q) Do dive companies prefer entry level tender/divers from a certain dive school or program?

A) Any school that trains you, will do so under your country's local regulations. Most schools adhere to these regulations when training student's and the result is an internationally recognized certification. Employer's generally see these school certificates as equally weighted.
So, there is no preferred school as such but you need to find out if the certification they provide is locally & internationally recognized.

To find out if your certification is internationally recognized, visit;

The Jascon 4 tug capsized on May 26, 2013 off the coast of Nigeria with only one survivor from 12 people on board. Now, six months on from the accident, incredible footage has emerged showing the moment the ship's cook was rescued from an air bubble on the ship, two days after the ship capsized. From 20 seconds a member of the DCN Diving rescue team exclaims as the sole survivor's hand comes into view, Okene Harrison was visibly shaken, but alive.

Interesting dive facts

• Did you know. Breathing Air below 25 metres can give you the feeling of being drunk? It’s called Nitrogen Narcosis.
• Below a depth of 10 metres, you can’t see red as the water absorbs this spectrum of light first. Blood would appear blue.
• Oxygen is poisonous at depth, divers going below 50 metres sea water (msw) depth use a mixed gas with a lower oxygen percentage.
• Sound travels 5 times faster in water than in air making it impossible to judge the direction of the source.
• ‘Delta P’ meaning pressure differential, is a term used where two different environments are at different pressures. If a small crack were to appear in a pipe that is not equalized to its surroundings, it could suck a diver right through it. See video example below.
• Deepest saturation dive in open water 534 m (1,752 ft) & deepest experimental (dry dive) in a hyperbaric chamber was 701 msw (2,300 fsw) by Theo Mavrostomos 1992.
• The sound of your voice while diving on compressed air will become progressively more high pitch the deeper you go due to the density increase of the air flowing past your voice box.
• Saturation divers live in a helium/oxygen environment for up to 28 days and speak like chipmunks 24/7
• Saturation divers are extremely well-paid earning anywhere between $1000-$2500USD per day but the risks they’re exposed to reflects the rationale behind the pay structure.
• It takes less than 3.5 hours for astronauts to arrive back to earth from the ISS, it takes 5 days for divers to decompress back from 100msw, both are unique in the fact that they work in martian environments.
• Divers can work in extremely cold conditions below 4 degrees with the help of hot water suits, without these, a human would be unconscious in less than 15mins and be facing death row within 45mins.

Fact of the day.

The deepest dive in history was completed in 1992 by Greek diver Theodoros Mavrostomos. He achieved a record of 701 msw (2300 fsw) in an onshore hyperbaric chamber (dry dive). He took 43 days to complete the record experimental dive, where a hydrogen–helium–oxygen gas mixture was used as breathing gas.

Charles's law of temperature effect on gas explained beautifully.

Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Charles' Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.'
