"I hope to give weirdos like me an escape and put a smile on our faces, even if only for a few minutes"

Brighton-based bombshell Jopy Music is one to watch if her latest single ‘Head Hunter’s Pub and Grub’ is anything to go by. Written, performed, mixed and produced entirely by Jopy herself, the track is nothing short of an alternative q***r masterpiece – think Rocky Horror gone cannibal-punk. The story it tells is dark, chaotic fun for your inner sociopath, yet the exhilarating joy of found family shines through with every beat (side note, a dark comedy series based on this song needs to happen!)

Brighton-based trio Jopy are playing our upcoming show at The Hope & Ruin on Wednesday 12th June alongside THE DSM IV, Owners Club and The Ringards 🔥

Led by Jo Parnell, Jopy are a dynamic three-piece underpinned by a punk spirit and adorned with the most intriguing of lyrics. There is something reminiscent of early PJ Harvey about the trio, but if Polly had been brought up on the road with The Cramps. Growing up in Guildford but now based in Brighton, Jo Parnell was thinking about music for as long as she can remember. As a trans woman growing up in a town without much of a q***r culture, Jopy was acutely aware of the estranged, outsider status pinned upon her. Making the decision to use her music as a conduit to revel in this perceived ‘deviance’ and find subversive pleasure within it, the results are a glittering treasure trove of unhinged characters, oddball stories, razor-sharp songwriting and infectiously sleazy punk-pop. Already championed by BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Music Introducing and featured on Apple Music editorial playlists after three hook-packed self-produced singles, ‘Headshot’, ‘Ka Ka Killer’ and ‘Head Hunters Pub and Grub’, Jopy's much-anticipated debut EP will be released on 12” vinyl via brilliant Brighton-based tastemakers Goo Records (Owners Club, The Stanford Family Band and past releases from Welly and Canned Pineapple) later in 2024.

LollapaGOOza 2 Preview: Band #12 - ATTICOMATIC

AtticOmatic are a five-piece from Brighton who describe themselves as creating a striking, unique blend of jazz, post-punk, and electronica - a sound that is both fresh and exhilarating. Their live set consists of keyboards, synths, bass, guitar, drums, percussion, and vocals. These instruments come together “in complete unison, as if each one of them is a cog in a futuristic machine, all knowing where each other will be in their musical cycle" - Sussex Music Mag.

We have been following their career with much interest since being sent their demos a year or so ago. Their live sets are a spellbinding melting pot of disparate rhythms and soulful grooves, topped off by the commanding and beautiful vocals of Lorcan and Kam respectively. We were lucky enough to get a live version of their song 'Men With Money' for our live compilation album 'Alive By The Seaside' and them playing it is likely to be a highlight of the whole day. They are the final band of LollapaGOOza 2 and we couldn't think of a more suitable outfit to take the stage at 11pm and to round off the evening's proceedings.

We were lucky enough to be on Guy Lloyd's Radio Blah Blah show on Slack City yesterday. The Stanford Family Band Jopy Music and Sairie all played excellent sets. You can listen here:

This month's Radio Blah Blah had three amazing live performances, two of them on the Goo Records Label, The Stanford Family Band and Jopy, as well as SAIRIE. LollapaGOOza 2 Preview: Band #11 - OWNERS CLUB

Owners Club call themselves a "pub rock five piece" - but they are so much more than that. There's a through line in their taut, visceral sound going from British greats like Roxy Music and Dr Feelgood before taking a detour off to NYC and nodding towards The Strokes and The Walkmen. The Dorking-based outfit are an absolutely ferocious live proposition, led by mesmerising frontman Mike Thorpe and his songs that range from singing about the long discontinued Double Diamond beer to vampires, the occult and an England that feels like a distant memory.

We were thrilled to sign them to Goo last year, and released their debut Owners Club EP on 7 inch in October - then celebrated with a rapturous London release show alongside buddies and .fat.pony. This year has seen them supporting such buzz acts as Geese and Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, and release their latest single on Goo, the brilliantly crunchy 'Come Dine With Me'. We truly believe this is a great British guitar band whose time will inevitably come. They are that good.

Come and experience them for yourself at our Brighton all-dayer on Saturday at The Hope & Ruin . A few tickets are still left, you know - snap em up from See Tickets https://www.seetickets.com/event/lollapagooza-2/the-hope-and-ruin-brighton/2903276

LollapaGOOza 2 Preview: Band #10 - THE STANFORD FAMILY BAND

The Stanford Family Band are a four piece that we signed to Goo last September. And what a lovely journey we've been on with them over the last 8 months, culminating in the release of your gorgeous debut 12 inch EP earlier in April 'For Your Listening Pleasure'.

Described by Louder Than War as "whimsical and wonderful, romantic and vintage", SFB wear their influences unashamedly throughout their beautifully crafted, harmony enriched songs. This is a sunlit fusion of "vintage pop with garage rock sensibilities" (Earmilk) - The Beach Boys and The Modern Lovers can be heard all over their sound, but the individuality of Elliot Stanford's voice and their talent for a unique hook or melody give them a distinct vibe that is uniquely their own. We couldn't love them any more than we do.

Charming and adorable live, SFB are likely to be one of the highlights of the show. So come and experience their stunning tunes at our all-dayer this Saturday down at The Hope & Ruin in Brighton. As they're playing upstairs, you'll need a ticket - bag one on See Tickets. https://www.seetickets.com/event/lollapagooza-2/the-hope-and-ruin-brighton/2903276

LollapaGOOza 2 Preview: Band #9 - JOPY

Jopy Music are the most recent signings to Goo Records and we are just a little bit excited about them. Led by Jo Parnell, they are a dynamic three piece underpinned by a punk spirit and adorned with the most intriguing of lyrics - for us, there is something of early PJ Harvey about this lot, but if Polly had been brought up on the road with The Cramps.

Growing up in the small town of Guildford - but now based in Brighton - Jo has been thinking about music for as long as she can remember. As a trans woman growing up in a town without much of a q***r culture, Jopy was acutely aware of the estranged, outsider status pinned upon her. Making the decision to use her music as a conduit to revel in this perceived ‘deviance’ and find subversive pleasure within it, the results are a glittering treasure-trove of unhinged characters, oddball stories, razor-sharp songwriting and infectiously sleazy punk-pop: “..there’s a certain empowerment you can find in boring people finding your existence offensive…”

We strongly advise that this is a band you do not want to miss this Saturday. They're at our all-dayer at The Hope & Ruin in Brighton, and you should probably bag a ticket soon from See Tickets - https://www.seetickets.com/event/lollapagooza-2/the-hope-and-ruin-brighton/2903276

LollapaGOOza 2 Preview: Band #8 - MY FAT PONY

MY FAT PONY are a South-East London based four piece that take influence from the likes of Guided By Voices, Neutral Milk Hotel and The Go! Team, weaving together melodic guitar, bouncing trumpet, intricate bass, and relentless drums. There is a constant sense of fun and imagination running through My Fat Pony’s songs; a reflection of the sense of creativity and artistry each member inhabits, with an art-school DIY culture still being a key part of the band’s spirit. From screen-printing their own merch, to self-directing and filming music videos, creativity and above all fun is the most important thing for this group of friends.

We asked them to support Owners Club at their EP release show in London last year, and have become big fans ever since. There is an infectious energy that pours out of them and it is in a live setting that their wonky pop songs make most sense. Felix Knox is also a brilliant guitarist, bashing out intriguing shapes and melodies, all the while chucking himself around like a loon. We're so pleased they're returning to Brighton to join the Goo fun.

Catch MFP at our all-dayer on Saturday 27th April at The Hope & Ruin in Brighton. Bag your tickets from See Tickets https://www.seetickets.com/event/lollapagooza-2/the-hope-and-ruin-brighton/2903276
