MANCHESTER BY THE SEA now leads the Dickie Award race for Best Actor (Casey Affleck) & Supporting Actor (Lucas Hedges)! Saw an advanced screening through SAG (it opens Nov 11), and it *knocked my socks off*! Get pumped, folks - this is one heck of an expertly crafted drama.

RACE UPDATE: Saw YOUTH this afternoon and an advanced screening of THE REVENANT tonight - neither were as good overall as they were in their best moments (oh, if only they were!!), and thus I wasn't excited about either as much as I had expected to be. Wondering if I'm gonna be genuinely excited about ANY of this year's movies... :/

RACE UPDATE: Saw JOY last week - Jennifer Lawrence is a likely Best Actress nominee now, but she won't win, and the movie won't score a Dickie nod for Best Picture - it's slightly below the part that David O. Russell set for himself with Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.
