In this video I will show you how to create a "clean" sine wave sub bass sound using Ableton Live's Operator synthesizer - but this can be done with nearly any soft synth (see below for free synth plugin recommendations.
From there we will use stock Ableton Live Audio Effects to quickly process the sounds and make them more interesting. You can use any distortion effects to get similar results.
