Indian-origin Starbucks has appointed Laxman Narasimhan as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Reckitt, which also manufactures D***x condoms, Enfamil infant formula, and Mucinex cold syrup, was led by Laxman Narasimhan as CEO. Howard Schultz has been replaced by the 55-year-old, who most recently served as PepsiCo's global chief commercial officer.

He attended the College of Engineering at the University of Pune. He travelled to the US to attend the Wharton business school at the University of Pennsylvania after finishing his engineering programme.

The executive was director and site manager of McKinsey's Delhi office from 1993 to 2012 throughout his time there. McKinsey is a leading worldwide management consulting business.

Narasimhan joined the beverage juggernaut PepsiCo in 2012, where he eventually attained the position of chief commercial officer. Additionally, he was PepsiCo Latin America's chief executive officer.

He was appointed CEO of the consumer products business Reckitt Benckiser in 2019.

Laxman Narasimhan was referred to as a "inspiring leader" by Mellody Hobson, the independent chair of the Starbucks Board of Directors. She continued, "With his extensive, practical experience leading strategic transitions at multinational consumer-facing organisations, he is the best option to drive Starbucks' development and seize the possibilities before us.

Current CEO Howard Schultz declared, "It became clear that Laxman is the perfect leader to take Starbucks into its next chapter when I learnt about Laxman's willingness to move. With his partner-centered approach, proven track record of developing capabilities, and ability to spur development in both established and developing countries, he is perfectly positioned to define this effort and guide the business forward, according to Starbucks.

According to critics, the executive possesses "excellent strategic acumen and customer intelligence."

His former employer Reckitt Benckiser has praised him for having "a solid track record in establishing purpose-led brands and driving consumer-centric and digital innovation."

Three college buddies from Delhi's Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Himanshu Chawla, Shrey Sehgal, and Suman Patra, launched their first business, Flower Aura, an online retailer of flowers, cakes, and personalised gifts, with barely Rs 2 lakh in 2010.

After working for a while in corporate employment after graduating from college in 2006 and 2007, the trio connected and pursued various B.Tech programmes.

They were inundated with orders on February 14th, Valentine's Day, in the first year of their firm, little more than a few weeks following its opening. Himanshu and Shrey had to help out because their delivery guy was unable to handle the orders.

According to Shrey, who comes from a middle-class family in the textile and carpet-producing city of Panipat, "I and Himanshu manually delivered at least 50% of the orders across Delhi NCR that day."

He talks on how salaried families generally have a negative outlook on launching their own enterprises. Shrey adds, "But I wanted to shatter this.

Suman continues, "We weren't the best students, but we were entrepreneurial.

All three of them actively participated in planning the college events, which was a terrific learning opportunity for them and gave them the courage to take the risk in 2010, when India's startup scene was just beginning to take off.

The company was successful right away, and they ended the first year with a turnover of Rs 10 lakh. With 150 employees presently and a projected revenue of Rs 60 crore (in 2021-22), Flower Aura has expanded significantly.

They all started Bakingo as a distinct brand under a new company in 2016, an online bakery that operates on a cloud kitchen concept and generates millions of dollars in annual sales today.

Bakingo made the decision to close the gap by offering clients the same brand of freshly baked goods with the same flavour in various locations around the nation. In order to provide the same flavour throughout all of our 50 cloud kitchens in 11 locations, Suman explains, "We had done substantial R&D."

Bollywood's newest superstar Karthik Aaryan reportedly turned down a multi-crore enticing ad contract for the same at a time when mega-stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Akshay Kumar are blatantly endorsing carcinogenic pan masalas through their Zuban Kesari advertisements.

That's correct, said a well-known advertising expert. Kartik Aaryan, who was offered about Rs. 8–9 crore to promote paan masala, declined the offer. Kartik appears to have morals, which is uncommon among today's performers who are plagued by the tendency to "grab." It's difficult to refuse money of this magnitude. Kartik is aware of his obligations as a young idol, though.

Earlier actors who began to feature in pan masala advertisements, such as Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan, had to deal with backlash for the same. About 21% of Indians over the age of 15 consume pan masala, a food that is extremely carcinogenic. It is one of the main causes of oral cancer, and medical professionals have frequently asked for its prohibition.

Given his reputation as a fitness enthusiast and advocate for a healthy living, Akshay Kumar's support for Pan Masala sparked a heated debate because of his contradictory behaviour. On Twitter, the actor expressed regret to his followers and promised to be more selective in the future regarding the brands he supported. Amitabh Bacchan was involved in a similar scandal last year.

Actors have a significant influence on our society, particularly the youth. Karthik Aaryan should be commended for doing people-centered actions early in his career. Intriguingly, Karthik Aaryan has consistently been more approachable to the general public than other Bollywood actors & families, both this time around and in the past.

A BJP corporator's home in Firozabad, which is 100 kilometres distant, is where a seven-month-old infant who was kidnapped from his sleeping parents at the Mathura train station was purportedly found, according to officials on Monday. Municipal Corporation Councilor Vinita Agarwal and her husband Krishna Murari Agarwal, according to media sources, were detained by police on suspicion of purchasing the kid for Rs 1.8 Lakh from two physicians because they "wanted a boy."

Sanjai, a baby, was taken from platform 8/9 at around 4:00 am on August 24 while his parents slept.

He said that the child was the son of Radha, a local of Mathura district's Parkham hamlet under the jurisdiction of Farah Police Station. Six teams, including surveillance teams from Agra and Mathura, were created to investigate the crime based on the CCTV video, according to police.

They discovered that the stolen infant had been taken from the platform by one Deep Kumar of Hathras, who sells heeng' at the station.

According to the SP, a contract for the child was arranged for 1.80 lakh and a sum of 85,000 has been collected from those who were detained.

Images from a news conference held by the Mathura railway police showed officers presenting the boy to his mother while grinning for the camera. Wads of 500-rupee notes that the police took from the detained physicians were displayed in another image.

Mukesh Ambani, the company's chairman, informed his shareholders of Reliance Industries' succession plan following the completion of the 45th Annual General Meeting.

But he emphasised that he was not yet retiring and that he would "continue to give hands-on leadership as before."

"Isha and Akash, who work for Jio and Retail, respectively, have acquired top positions. Since the beginning, they have been fervently interested in our consumer operations "said he. "Anant has also enthusiastically joined our new energy venture. Actually, Jamnagar is where he spends the majority of his time."

This comes a day after the Ambanis, according to a Bloomberg story, added a $80-million (Rs 640 crore) seaside mansion in Dubai to their list of dwellings. The home on the Palm Jumeirah was reportedly bought for Anant Ambani, the family's youngest child.

It contains ten bedrooms, indoor and outdoor pools, seven spas, a complete indoor salon, a 70-meter private beach, and an unlimited supply of ultra-luxurious, state-of-the-art amenities. This is the largest residential real estate transaction the city has ever seen.

The government has actively courted the ultra-wealthy by giving long-term "golden visas" and easing restrictions on foreign homeowners, and Dubai is quickly becoming one of their preferred markets. Some of Ambani's new neighbours will include Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan and British player David Beckham together with his wife Victoria.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Anant is one of three successors to the $93.3 billion wealth Ambani has amassed. The 11th richest man in the world, at 65 years old, is gradually giving over control to his children following a push for diversification that saw the expansion of his company into green energy, technology, and e-commerce.

Since October 2014, Akash and Isha have been on the boards of RRVL, the organisation that runs supermarkets that sell consumer electronics, food and groceries, apparel, jewellery, and footwear as well as an online retail business, and Jio Platforms Ltd. (JPL), the company's digital arm. Anant was recently appointed to the RRVL board of directors. He joined JPL as a director in May

A guy set fire to a Class 12 student from Jharkhand's Dumka district on Tuesday after she rejected his love approaches; the victim died from her injuries in the early hours of Sunday. In response to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal's demonstrations over her murder in Dumka town, prohibitory orders were issued.

The entire city has come to a stop as a result of the tragic incident, and officials had to apply CrPC Section 144 in the region because of demonstrations. This indicates that it was against the law for five or more persons to congregate in one location.

"Shahrukh, the defendant, was taken into custody. We'll ask for a quick trial in the fast track court. People are helping us out. We want people to keep the peace, "Ambar Lakda, the SP for Dumka, spoke to ANI on Sunday.

Even while the accused was being led to a police car in handcuffs, he could be seen grinning carefree.

His "shameless smile" was criticised by users on social media after the video was extensively circulated there.

90% burned and in severe condition, the man was first brought to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in Dumka. She then received a referral to Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS), where she passed away from her wounds.

29/08/2022

The Supreme Court has noted that "families may take the shape of marital unions, unmarried partnerships, or LGBT relationships," adding that a "atypical" representation of a family unit is just as genuine as its conventional counterpart and merits legal protection.

A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and AS Bopanna stated during the hearing that the legal and social definitions of "family" are that it "consists of a single, unchanging unit with a mother and a father (who stay constant throughout time) and their offspring."

This historic hearing comes after a number of concerns regarding LGBT couples living together and the drive for gay and le***an weddings were brought up recently. Following the legalising of homosexuality in 2018, many people have pushed for the ability for live-in couples to adopt.

"This assumption ignores both the numerous factors that might cause a person's familial structure to shift and the reality that many families do not initially comport with this expectation. Q***r relationships, domestic partnerships, and unmarried partnerships are all examples of familial ties.

A working woman cannot be denied her legal right to maternity leave for her biological kid just because her husband had two children from a previous marriage and she used the leave to care for one of them, according to the Supreme Court's ruling.

A single parent family might exist for a variety of reasons, the bench said, including the death of a spouse, a separation, or a divorce.

Similar to this, it said that remarriage, adoption, or foster care might result in a change in the guardians and carers of children (who normally play the roles of "mother" and "father").

It was stated that although these displays of love and families may not be typical, they are just as real as their conventional counterparts and that these non-typical displays of the family unit are just as deserving of legal protection as well as the benefits provided by social welfare legislation.

Bond rates increased 6 basis points in tandem with a decline in global stocks as a result of the Federal Reserve's hawkish language at Jackson Hole, while the rupee broke through the 80-to-a-dollar threshold and established a new record low.

At 9.30 am, the local currency was down 0.25 percent from its previous close, trading at 80.03 against the US dollar. The rupee hit a record low against the dollar at 80.15 after opening at 80.07.

When the rupee touched 80.06 against the dollar in September, it was the previous low point for the currency. Compared to the local currency, the dollar has gained 7% thus far this year.

The dollar index rose to over 109, the indicator's highest level in a year, while GBP-USD fell below 1.17 and EUD-USD also fell, with the latter pair likely to drop below 0.99. Chinese Yuan prices in Asia, both onshore and offshore, touched a two-year low of $6.9 as pressure mounted on other regional currencies, such as the Indian Rupee (INR).

In line with the significant decrease in US markets after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell stated the central bank wouldn't relent in its fight against rising inflation, Indian stocks fell strongly on Monday morning.

At 9.19 a.m., the Nifty traded at 17,181.90 points, down 377.00 points or 2.15 percent, while the Sensex was trading at 57,524.27 percent, down 1,309.60 points or 2.23 percent.

Data from the National Stock Exchange indicated that all Nifty 50 traded substantially in the red.

Powell stated that restrictive monetary policy will be necessary for the US economy "for some time" until inflation is under control in an address to the central banking conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

The current goal of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is to reduce inflation to the target level of 2%.

While FMCG companies have mostly held steady up to this point, IT, Metal, and Bank equities have led the race to the bottom.

In early trade on Monday, investors' wealth decreased by 3.23 lakh crore, in accordance with the gloomy trend in the share market.

28/08/2022

According to a Morning Consult study, PM Narendra Modi has once again topped the list of the world's most favoured leaders with a 75% approval rating.

List of World’s Most Popular Leaders as per survey by Morning Consult:

1. Narendra Modi (India) – 75%
2. Andrés Manuel López Obrador (México) – 63%
3. Anthony Albanese (Australia) – 58%
4. Ignazio Cassis (Switzerland) – 52%
5. Mario Draghi (Italy) – 54%
6. Magdalena Andersson (Sweden) – 50%
7. Alexander De Croo (Belgium) – 43%
8. Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil) – 42%
9. Fumio Kishida (Japan) – 38%
10. Micheál Martin (Ireland) – 39%
11. Joe Biden (United States) – 41%
12. Justin Trudeau (Canada) – 39%
13. Emmanuel Macron (France) – 34%
14. Pedro Sánchez (Spain) – 34%
15. Jonas Gahr Støre (Norway) – 30%
16. Olaf Scholz (Germany) – 30%
17. Karl Nehammer (Austria) – 28%
18. Mateusz Morawiecki (Poland) – 26%
19. Mark Rutte (Netherlands) – 27%
20. Boris Johnson (United Kingdom) – 25%
21. Petr Fiala (Czech Republic) – 22%
22. Yoon Seok-youl (South Korea) – 21%

The study found that the majority of Indians believe PM Modi is leading the nation in the correct way. Surprisingly, PM Modi maintained strong popularity ratings even at the height of the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak, a period when the government was the target of harsh criticism for the way it handled the pandemic from both the opposition and some segments of the public.

It is thought that the war in Ukraine is to blame for the sharp decline in support for US Vice President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Mandates for the Covid-19 vaccination and the mask, which sparked considerable opposition in those nations and resulted in rising infection and fatality rates during the Covid wave, may also have had a role.

The list of 22 leaders' approval ratings showed how the public's opinion of those leaders has changed since the last election.

Moderna, a manufacturer of vaccines, announced on Friday that it is suing Pfizer and BioNTech, two other producers of vaccines, for using their technology to create the covid vaccination injections. In the statement, Moderna also claimed that Pfizer and BioNTech had violated patents it had obtained for their mRNA technology between 2010 and 2016.

The business filed patent infringement claims in a German court as well as a federal court in the United States. Both the two-shot vaccinations from Moderna and Pfizer employ mRNA technology to aid patients in battling the coronaviru

In the press statement, Moderna stated that it is not attempting to have Pfizer's vaccine taken off the market or to stop future sales of it, nor is it pursuing damages for its sale under any particular conditions.

The sale of the vaccinations in AMC 92 nations, which are low- and middle-income nations, as well as in situations where "The U.S. Government would be accountable for any damages," as well as for actions before to March 8, 2022, are among such conditions.

Arbutus Biopharma and Genevant Sciences, two biotechnology businesses, have filed lawsuits against Moderna over the way the mRNA is delivered to the body and packaged. Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna are being sued for a related technology by Alnylam, another biotechnology business.

The Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech injections employ mRNA technology as opposed to conventional vaccinations, which depend on delivering weak or dead versions of a virus to enable the immune system to detect it and produce antibodies.

mRNA vaccines, on the other hand, provide cells the instructions they need to create a harmless fragment of the spike protein that is present on the surface of the virus that causes Covid-19. Once cells have produced this spike protein, they are able to identify and combat the actual virus.

26/08/2022

In the second quarter of 2022, India overtook China to overtake it as the second-largest wristwatch market in the world, according to a Counterpoint Research analysis.

The worldwide smartwatch market expanded 13%YoY in Q2 2022, with Apple maintaining the top rank. India's smartwatch market rose by 347% year-over-year (YoY) to surpass China for the second slot.

MARKET SUMMARY:

- Apple's shipments grew 8% YoY, putting it in first place once again this quarter. However, the fall in Apple Watch 7 series shipments grew in comparison to the prior quarter as the impact of the new model launch progressively subsided.

- With a 40% YoY rise, Samsung retained its second-place position. The Galaxy Watch 4 series has retained its appeal, particularly in India and North America.

- For the third straight quarter, Huawei earned the top spot in the Chinese market. Due to restrictions on its global development, the brand will struggle to overtake Samsung as the number two brand internationally.

- Fire-Boltt had a striking growth in shipments, reaching the top spot in the Indian market for quarterly shipments.

- Noise expanded 298% YoY, becoming more and more popular in India's physical and internet sectors. With a 26% share of the Indian market, it lost the top spot to Fire-Boltt, whose sales are growing quickly.

- Xiaomi shipped 13% more units year over year while maintaining a stable market share. To further enhance its market share, the brand must extend its presence in India, but this would be difficult given the strength of the local competitors.

- When compared to the previous year, Garmin dropped two spots to take up position seven. However, because of its higher ASP, the brand came in third in terms of wholesale revenues, behind Apple and Samsung.

The survey stated that in order to further improve their market share in India, foreign companies "need to develop their presence there, although competition would not be simple owing to strong local brands."

With a 10% YoY fall in exports, China, which had been in second position the previous quarter, fell to third as consumer demand decreased as a result of Covid-19 lockdowns and weak economic development.

With the intention of having his buddy pass the biometric verification and take the recruitment exam in his place, the applicant peeled the skin from his thumb with the use of a hot pan. However, an official said on Thursday that during the biometric verification before the railway recruitment test held in Gujarat's Vadodara city on August 22, the thumb skin put on the proxy's hand came off when the exam supervisor sprayed a sanitizer on it.

According to Additional Commissioner of Police S M Varotariya, the Vadodara police detained Manish Kumar and Rajyaguru Gupta on Wednesday for forgery and defrauding. Both men are from the Bihar district of Munger. Both of the males are in their mid-20s and have previously passed the Class 12 test.

He said that both men were in their mid-20s and had previously passed the Class 12 test.

According to the FIR filed at Vadodara's Laxmipura police station, a commercial organisation that was authorised by the Railways organised a recruitment exam for railway "D" group openings at a building in the Laxmipura area here on August 22. More than 600 hopefuls showed up.

All applicants were asked to provide their thumbprints, which were compared with their Aadhaar data using a biometric device before to the test in order to avoid any form of cheating. Despite many efforts, the system at that time was unable to record the thumb imprint of Manish Kumar, the candidate, Varotariya claimed.

The test administrator became suspicious when he saw that the applicant was trying to conceal anything by slipping his left hand inside his jeans pocket. The official said that the skin paste on the supervisor's left thumb came off when he sprayed hand sanitizer on it.

The individual who was apprehended admitted to the authorities that his true name was Rajyaguru Gupta and that he had entered the test under the guise of his buddy Manish Kumar. Given that Gupta excelled in school, Kumar, who had applied for a position with the railway, thought it would be a good idea to use a false name to send Gupta to the interview.

Dogs are considered to be the best friends of humans, as we all know. Every year on August 26, International Dog Day is observed to honour the unconditional love that dogs get from people. Additionally, it hopes to persuade others to adopt dogs so they may live better lives. Spend time with your closest animal companion to enhance its sense of specialness. Let's discuss International Dog Day's origins and importance to honour this momentous event.

International Dog Day was established in 2004 by Colleen Paige, a pet and family lifestyle expert, animal rescue advocate, conservationist, dog trainer, and author. On August 26, 2004, the first ever celebration of this day took place. This specific day was picked because Paige's family adopted their first dog, "Sheltie," on this day when the dog was 10 years old. Senior lawmaker Ghulam Nabi Azad abruptly resigned from the Congress while taking potshots at the Gandhis and the party's organisational leadership.

The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister lambasted Rahul Gandhi for the party's "immaturity" and "demolishing the consultation system" in a fiery letter to party leader Sonia Gandhi, announcing his resignation from all posts and the main membership.

On August 16, Azad resigned from her position as director of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress campaign committee.

The former Rajya Sabha member also attacked Rahul Gandhi, blaming him for the Congress's declining political influence and dismal electoral results.

"One of the most blatant instances of this immaturity was Rahul Gandhi ripping up a government ordinance in front of the cameras. The Prime Minister of India and the Indian government's authority were utterly undermined by this "childish" behaviour. The loss of the UPA administration in 2014 was mostly attributed to this one move more than anything else, according to Azad's letter.

Azad, a member of the G-23 group demanding reform in the party, claimed that the Congress has lost both the capacity and the desire to fight for what is right for India because of the tutelage of the clique that controls the All India Congress Committee.
