Mutt + Tedder - Asking You
Rubik Digital is proud to present “Asking You,” the newest EP release from Mutt & Tedder. As we roll into late Summer, these are two tracks designed for dropping the top, cranking the bass and riding into a hot night of possibilities.
First up is “Asking You,” a surprising two-step thumper that pleads for romance—“I’m just asking you, baa-by”—while the bass growls underneath with unrequited desire. It’s funky, it’s sexy, but then it’s also a little bit mean and dangerous. Rubik strives to push the envelope of what it means to be “liquid,” and “Asking You” fulfills that mission by serving up stiff cocktail of edgy, mercurial funk.
On the flip its “Waiting,” a jungle throwback with breaks for days and positive vibes for miles. But this isn’t old school, and Mutt & Tedder’s smooth sampling and subtle keys push the sound past preconceptions and into a pristine, classy groove. This one’s for the beat-junkies and the dancefloor operators, 2015 drum and bass at its finest.
