Man wanted on province-wide arrest warrant.

New Glasgow Regional Police has obtained a Warrant for the Arrest of a man in relation to a robbery at a gas station and convenience store on Marsh Street New Glasgow that occurred on December 10, 2023.

New Glasgow Regional Police has charged a man after a robbery on Marsh Street that took place at a gas station/convenience store in New Glasgow.

On December 10, at approximately 8:30 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police officers responded to a robbery that occurred at a gas station/convenience store on Marsh Street, New Glasgow. New Glasgow Regional Police officers responded to a complaint that a store employee had been confronted by a man who pointed a gun at the employee and demanded money. The man fled the gas station on foot with cash.

A description of the man was provided by the employee and confirmed through video surveillance.

With assistance of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Dog Services, officers contained the area and began to search for the man.

At approximately 2:17 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police officer located and safely arrested a 39-year-old man nearby.

39 year-old-man Jeffrey Ryan Cosh was charged with the following offences:

Armed Robbery.
Disguise with intent to commit indictable offence.
Use of a firearm while committing an offence.
Pointing a firearm.
Carrying a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence
Fail to comply with probation.
Possession of firearm knowing possession is prohibited.
Possession of firearm while prohibited from doing so.
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to today in Provincial Court in Pictou.

A second person was also involved and New Glasgow Regional Police are continuing to investigate his identity.

The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit has charged a man with weapons offences and robbery.

On December 5, the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit safely arrested a man in Stellarton as part of an investigation into a robbery that occurred on November 24 in Salt Springs.

On November 24, Pictou County District RCMP received a report of a robbery in Salt Springs. The investigation revealed that a man had made plans to buy tools at Exit 19 in Salt Springs.

During the roadside transaction, the man selling the tools, who was known to the buyer, brandished a gun and demanded the buyer get out of his vehicle. The seller then took off with the buyer’s vehicle.

A short time later, Westville Police Service observed the suspect’s vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Acadia Ave. before crashing. The driver fled on foot and was not located.
As the investigation continued, officers located the suspect’s vehicle at a residence in Stellarton on December 5. Upon officers’ arrival at the residence, the suspect fled on foot. He was safely arrested a short time later on Foord St.

Forty-year-old Darren Brent Snell has been charged with Robbery, Pointing a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Theft under $5000, Resisting a Peace Officer, Possession Contrary to Court Order. Snell was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on December 8.

The investigation is being led by the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit with assistance of Pictou County District RCMP, Stellarton Police Service, Westville Police Service, New Glasgow Police Service, RCMP Synthetic Drug Unit, and RCMP Police Dog Services.

Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit arrest Forty year old Darren Brent Snell in relation to a Robbery

On December 5th, 2023 Stellarton, Nova Scotia………

A robbery was reported on November 24th, 2023 in Salt Springs, Pictou County. The investigation revealed that a man had made plans to buy tools at exit 19 in Salt Springs. The man selling the tools, known to the buyer, brandished a gun during the road side transaction and demanded the buyer get out of his vehicle. The seller then took off with the buyer’s vehicle.

A short time after the robbery, Westville Police Service observed the suspect vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Acadia Avenue before crashing. The driver fled on foot.

On December 5th, 2023 The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, with assistance from Pictou County District RCMP, Stellarton Police Service, Westville Police Service, New Glasgow Police Service, RCMP Synthetic Drug Unit, and RCMP Police Dog Services, located the man’s vehicle at a residence in Stellarton. Upon arrest, the man fled on foot. Officers pursued on foot and apprehended the man on Foord Street.

Forty year old Darren Brent Snell has been charged with robbery, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon, theft of motor vehicle, theft under $5000, resisting a peace officer, possession contrary to court order. Snell has been remanded into custody. He will appear in Pictou Provincial Court on December 8th at 9:30 AM.

New Glasgow Regional Police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of a man charged in relation to an incident that took place on Tuesday October 10 2023 in New Glasgow.

New Glasgow Regional Police charged five impaired drivers over the weekend in New Glasgow in an effort to eliminate Impaired Driving.

On February 18, at 9:29 p.m. New Glasgow Regional Police conducted a traffic stop on Townsend Avenue and charged a 28-year-old male from Colchester County with Impaired Driving.

On February 19, shortly after midnight 12:48 a.m., NGR Police conducted another traffic stop and on highway 104 and charged a 52-year-old female from Colchester County with Impaired Driving.

Later that night on February 19 at 8:03 p.m. NGR Police charged a 33-year-old male from Pictou County with Impaired Driving where he refused to provide a breath sample. In addition, he was also charged with failing to comply with provisions on his licence (zero blood alcohol level) and expired licence plate.

On February 20, just past midnight at 12:22 a.m., NGR Police conducted another traffic stop on Temperance Street and charged a 51-year-old male from Guysborough County with Impaired Driving. In addition, he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while his licence was revoked.

On February 20 at 9:36 p.m., NGR Police charged a 30-year-old male from Colchester County with Impaired Driving and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited and illegally transporting cannabis in a motor vehicle.

Nobody was injured during the incidents. The five drivers were later released and will appear in Provincial Court in Pictou at a later date.

New Glasgow Regional Police credits the public’s assistance in reporting Impaired Drivers over the long weekend. Westville Police charge two men with fi****ms offences

February 17, 2022, Westville, Nova Scotia…Westville Police Service has charged two men after an incident on Munro St. in Westville.

At approximately 10:46 a.m. on February 16, 2022, police responded to a report of a man walking into a home on Munro St. brandishing a firearm.

Police secured the area around the home with the assistance of the Stellarton Police Service, New Glasgow Regional Police, Pictou County District RCMP, Northeast RCMP Traffic Services and the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit.

Police attempted negotiations with the individuals inside the home, however they were unsuccessful. The Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and RCMP Police Dog Services were called in to provide further assistance, along with EHS and the Westville Fire Department.

After several hours, RCMP ERT entered the home with a warrant and safely arrested six people inside. No one was injured during this incident. Police have since executed a search warrant on the home and during the search, police seized a stolen rifle and a pistol.

Police will be charging two men with the following offences:
• Careless Use of a Firearm;
• Unsafe Storage of a Firearm;
• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm;
• Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized;
• Possession of a Restricted Weapon with Ammunition;
• Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime;
• Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order.
Both remain in custody. The other four people that were arrested have since been released without charge.
The investigation is continuing.

The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (PCISCEU) has charged two people in a drug trafficking and stolen property investigation.

On February 10, 2022, at approximately 2:20 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Westville, Nova Scotia. Two men were arrested for Possession of Co***ne, Methamphetamine and Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Stolen Property. During a search of the vehicle, police seized co***ne, methamphetamine, hydromorphone, a digital scale and an electronic device.

While the traffic stop was occurring, police executed a search warrant at a home in Central West River, Nova Scotia. A man was located at the home and was placed under arrest for Possessing Co***ne and Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking and for Possession of Stolen Property. During the search, police located co***ne, methamphetamine, hydromorphone, an illicit Cannabis grow operation, electronic devices, illegal ci******es, a firearm, a stolen side-by-side, a stolen utility trailer and several other stolen tools and equipment.

Police have charged a 37-year-old Guysborough County man with Possession of Co***ne for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (2 counts), Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Careless Use of a Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized.

Police have also charged a 51-year-old Pictou County man with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (2 counts), Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Careless Use of a Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized.

The third man was later released from custody and will not be facing charges.

Both accused have been released from custody and will appear in Pictou Provincial Court in May, 2022.

The investigation is ongoing and continues to be lead by the PICSCEU. The investigation has been assited by the Westville Police Service, Stellarton Police Service, New Glasgow Regional Police Service and the Pictou County District RCMP.

A Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit investigation into drugs and stolen property has led to numerous criminal charges against two men.

The unit, assisted by police from Westville, Stellarton, New Glasgow and the Pictou District RCMP, arrested three men on Feb. 10 at two different locations.

Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in Westville at 2:20 p.m. where they arrested two men for offences including possession of co***ne, methamphetamine and hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of stolen property.

Officers located co***ne, methamphetamine, hydromorphone, a digital scale and an electronic device when they searched the vehicle.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. that same day, police executed a search warrant in Central West River. A third man was arrested for possession of co***ne and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of stolen property.

Police searched a residence, property and outbuildings, and seized co***ne, methamphetamine, hydromorphone, an illegal ma*****na grow operation, illegal ci******es, firearm, stolen side-by-side, stolen utility trailer and several other stolen tools/equipment and electronic devices.

As a result of the investigation:

A 37-year-old man is facing charges of:

-> possession of co***ne for the purpose of trafficking
-> possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
-> possession of hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking
-> possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (two counts)
-> possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
-> careless use of a firearm
-> unsafe storage of a firearm
-> unauthorized possession of a firearm
-> possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized.

A 51-year-old man is facing charges of:

-> possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
-> possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (two counts)
-> possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
-> careless use of a firearm
-> unsafe storage of a firearm
-> unauthorized possession of a firearm
-> possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized.

No charges were laid against the third individual, who was later released.

The two men were released from custody and will appear in provincial court in Pictou in May.

New Glasgow Regional Police have charged a 32-year-old-male driver from Pictou County with multiple offences after his vehicle, a Ford Edge collided with a Honda Civic at the intersection of Park Street and Terra Cotta Drive, New Glasgow on February 2 2022 at 8:37 a.m..



The 32-year-old driver exited his vehicle and left the accident scene on foot, where the driver was immediately located nearby and arrested by New Glasgow Regional Police Patrol Officers.



The 32-year-old driver was charged with



Failing to Stop at an Accident
Failing to Comply with Probation Order
Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited
Operation of a Motor Vehicle without Insurance
Failing to Yield When Making Left Turn on Highway.


The driver of the Honda Civic was not injured.



Both Vehicles sustained extensive damages and were towed from the scene.



The 32-year-old driver was later released on an undertaking to appear in Provincial Court in Pictou.

Pictou County District RCMP are investigating a motor vehicle collision that occurred in the town of Pictou at approximately 8:45 PM on Monday, February 7, 2022.

A 14 year old pedestrian was injured in the collision and remains in hospital with serious injuries. An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation in continuing.

New Glasgow Regional Police have charged a 47-year-old-male from Pictou County with having a fake inspection sticker on his vehicle. On February 3, at 8:55 a.m. during a traffic stop the driver was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid Inspection Sticker.



New Glasgow Regional Police are advising motorists of fake inspection stickers that continue circulating throughout Nova Scotia and check all paperwork is in order before purchasing a vehicle. New Glasgow Regional Police have laid several charges in the past in relation to fake Motor Vehicle Inspection Stickers.



“It is important for drivers to know that the inspection certificate needs to be in the vehicle at all times matching the number on the motor vehicle inspection sticker,” said Constable Ken Macdonald of the New Glasgow Regional Police. “Affixing a fake inspection sticker on your vehicle will result in charges and your vehicle towed.”

A 35-year-old Pictou man will appear in Port Hawkesbury court this May after police seized a number of fi****ms, ammunition, body armour and other related items from his home on High Street in Pictou.

On January 10, 2022, the Inverness County District RCMP began an investigation after a video was posted to social media of a man, in a business, waving a handgun around in a reckless manner and allegedly having an over capacity magazine. It was determined that this incident occurred on Whycocomagh Mountain Rd. in Whycocomagh.

At the request of police, the suspect, a 35-year-old Pictou man, attended the Pictou RCMP Detachment prior to the search warrant ex*****on and was arrested without incident. He was later released on conditions, which include that he not possess any fi****ms, weapons, ammunition or explosive substances.

He will be facing charges of Careless Use of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device, Possession of a Prohibited Device Knowing It's Possession is Unauthorized, Possession of a Firearm at an Unauthorized Place. He will appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on May 30, 2022.

On January 28, at 1:45 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police received several reports of a disturbance at a shopping mall on Westville Road.



Reports received indicated that a group of people were running up and down the mall hallway with flags and posters, protesting public health measures and covid-19 mandates.



Protestors were not wearing masks at the time of the protest.



When police officers arrived members of the group dispersed and were in the process of leaving the area.



Police continue to investigate persons responsible for the Disturbance and Health Protection Act violations.

On January 29, 2022, 25-year-old Devon Cory Butler was charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder in relation to the death of a 56-year-old woman at a residence/apartment on the 400 block on Nelson Street, New Glasgow.

Devon Cory Butler is in custody and has been remanded into custody and will be appearing before Provincial Court on Monday January 31, 2022.

The Province today, January 28, issued a directive under the Emergency Management Act prohibiting protesters from blockading Highway 104 near the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border.

The directive also applies to people who stop or gather alongside Highway 104, the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border, or at the Cobequid Pass toll area in support of the 2022 Freedom Convoy, the Atlantic Hold the Line event, or others organized to interfere with traffic. Allowing people to gather in those areas would put themselves and others at risk.

Individuals and corporations could be fined for failing to comply with the directive. Individuals or other entities who finance, organize, aid or encourage blocking the highway could also be fined.

The directive will remain in place for the duration of the provincial state of emergency.

Quick Facts:
-- a state of emergency was declared under the Emergency Management Act on March 22, 2020, and has been extended until Feb. 6, 2022
-- fines for a summary conviction under the new directive will range from $3,000 to $10,000 for individuals and between $20,000 and $100,000 for a corporation

The New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit is investigating a suspicious death of a woman in New Glasgow.

On January 28, 2022, at 1034 a.m. the New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a 911 call were police requested to attend a residence on the 400 block of Nelson Street, New Glasgow, where patrol members located the deceased woman within the residence.

A 25-year-old adult male has been taken into custody at the residence without incident.

New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit and assisted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Forensic Identification Services and the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit continues to investigate.

"This is believed to have been an isolated incident and investigators do not believe that there is an ongoing risk to the public as both individuals knew each other," said Constable Ken Macdonald of the New Glasgow Regional Police. "Officers will continue to remain at the scene while the investigation continues."

Pictou County District RCMP charged a 28 year old woman today in Pictou with failing to isolate under the Health Protection Act. The woman posted on a social media forum that she had tested positive for covid-19 but was choosing not to isolate.

The investigation revealed that the woman was positive on a rapid test and attended her workplace despite Covid-19 guidelines. The fine for failing to comply with the Act in Nova Scotia is $2422.00 for a first offence.

On Thursday January 20 at 3:20 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police, New Glasgow Fire Department and Emergency Health Services responded to a four-motor vehicle collision at the intersection of East River Road and Atlantic Drive, New Glasgow.

The collision involved a GMC Sierra Pickup, Honda Civic, Toyota Rav-4 and a Nissan Rogue.



Two of the vehicles, the GMC Pick-up, and the Honda Civic sustained extensive damage and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.



Only the driver of the Honda Civic, a 46-year-old male and two-year-old passenger were transported by Emergency Health Services to Aberdeen Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.



East River Road is a major thoroughfare in the Town of New Glasgow and traffic was reduced to one lane in both directions for approximately one hour.



Constable Ken Macdonald stated, “Police continue to investigate, but preliminary investigation has indicated that weather and road conditions were a factor in the cause of the collision.”

Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (PCISCEU) charge three with drug offences.

On the 6th day of January, 2022 at approximately 12:00pm, the PCISCEU with assistance from the Stellarton Police Service arrested three individuals in relation to a drug investigation lead by the PCISCEU.

A male and a female were arrested in a vehicle where police later located a quantity of co***ne, methamphetamine, cash, cellular telephones, a digital scale, a prohibited weapon as well as ammunition.

Additionally, police arrested another male in close proximity who was in possession of a quantity of co***ne and methamphetamine.


As a result:

A 32 year old man is facing charges of:
Trafficking co***ne;
Trafficking methamphetamine;
Possession of co***ne for the purpose of trafficking;
Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking;
Possession of a prohibited weapon;
Unsafe storage of ammunition.

A 31 year old woman is facing charges of:
Possession of co***ne for the purpose of trafficking;
Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking;
Possession of a prohibited weapon;
Unsafe storage of ammunition.

A 25 year old man is facing charges of:
Possession of co***ne;
Possession of methamphetamine.

Pictou County District RCMP has charged a man who had uttered threats and barricaded himself in a home in Pictou.

At approximately 2:45 a.m. on December 17th, police were called to a home on Chestnut St. in Pictou as a man who was in the home had been sending threatening messages to a woman known to him. When police arrived, they determined that the man had a firearm that he was threatening to use and he was refusing to exit the home. Police began communicating with the man over the phone and continued a dialogue with him for approximately forty-five minutes. The man ultimately decided to surrender and was arrested without further incident.

Joshua John Fawcett, 23, of Pictou, has been charged with the following:

Uttering Threats Against a Person;
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm;
Possession of a Firearm when Knowing Possession is Unauthorized;
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;
Unsafe Storage of a Firearm;
Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order;
Failure to Comply with a Probation Order.
Fawcett was remanded into custody and will appear in Pictou Provincial Court on December 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. for a bail hearing.

On Wednesday December 22 at 8:30 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a business on Westville Road New Glasgow for a person who was not wearing a mask. Upon investigation the 49-year-old female from Pictou County was charged under Section 71(1)(b) of the Health Protection Act for Failure to Wear a Mask when in a public place. Violation of this act results in a fine of $2422.00.

Later that day, on Wednesday December 22 at 4:50 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to the same business on Westville Road New Glasgow for a person who was not wearing a mask. Upon investigation the 51-year-old male from Pictou County was charged under Section 71(1)(b) of the Health Protection Act for Failure to Wear a Mask when in a public place. Violation of this act results in a fine of $2422.00.

The New Glasgow Regional Police would like to thank the vast majority of Nova Scotians who are following the directives under both the Nova Scotia Health Protection and Emergency Management Acts.

Pictou County District RCMP has charged a Pictou Landing First Nation man in a historical sexual assault investigation.

On August 13, 2021, police received a complaint of a sexual assault that had occurred approximately 15 years ago on New Years Day.

The victim was either 11 or 12 at the time, and following New Years Eve celebrations, she had gone to sleep for the night. She was then awoken by a man who sexually assaulted her.

The man was 21 or 22 years old at the time.

On October 28, 2021, Gary Daniel Denny, 35, of Pictou Landing First Nation was arrested without incident. Denny was charged with Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference. Denny was released on conditions and will appear in Pictou Provincial Court on December 13, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is lead by Pictou County District RCMP with assistance from their General Investigation Section.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Pictou County District RCMP at 902-485-4333.

A man has been displaced by a fire last night that heavily damaged an older two-storey house in Pictou, Nova Scotia.

Canadian Red Cross volunteers assisted him with emergency lodging and funds for purchases like food, clothing and some other basic items.

There were no injuries from the fire on St. Andrews Street, reported shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The Stellarton Police Service is investigating an armed robbery that happened at the Sobeys Fast Fuels located at 130 North Foord Street, Stellarton

At approximately 1:45 a.m. on August 12th, a lone male entered the store brandishing a knife and left with an undisclosed amount of money and other property. The suspect was reported to be wearing black sneakers, camouflage pants and a grey hoodie with black sleeves and a black hood.

No one was injured during this incident.

The suspect immediately left the area and travelled southbound on foot
