Today's episode of The Pivotal Stories Project Podcast features singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matt Keating

Matt takes us on a wide ranging journey of topics including the importance of story, how where he grew up helped shape him, the role of Buddhism and Yoga have in keeping him sane, his relationship with his dad, and how Nirvana used simple chord progressions to blow up the music world.

Matt is funny, smart, and gracious. Big thanks to Steve Michener for making the connection.

Matt and I cover a broad range of topics that include the importance of story, Buddhism, songwriting, and how much caffeine he consumes!

We talk about creativity, the Boston music scene in the 80's, and Steve's amazing online group, Steve's Random Record Collection Countdown, where he is writing about one album in his collection each day for a year, in advance of he and his wife retiring to Europe.

New episode out today!

Jaymie Campbell is an artist, with her art taking the form of fashion, photography, writing, and most notably, jewelry making, which is how I became aware of her. Jaymie is Anishnaabe, and a member of Curve Lake First Nation. She was born in western Canada, spent her teens in Ontario, and now resides in British Columbia.

In our conversation today, we talk about how a connection to the earth is vital, the respect of elders in her community, and her definition of art. And I can say with relative certainty that this will be the only place where you can learn how much effort and time goes into tanning a hide.
