UPDATE! UPDATE!UPDATE!
Bizonto comedy has been arrested this morning at their work station of Radio Simba where they had gone about their routine schedule. Eye witnesses say as soon as the four arrived at the station, police swung into action and asked them to board the waiting patrol vehicle and go for interrogation.

Their arrest comes days after they trolled pro-regime pastor, Aloysius Bujingo in a skit that made rounds on social media. Sources link the arrest to this particular troll on the city pastor. Bujingo has reportedly cautioned all those who ridicule him on social media.

It is said that he is to also sue Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine if he does not rein into the alleged ‘misconduct’ of his supporters who have turned Bujingo into their ‘daily meal.’

Joe Biden: We are preparing sanctions against Uganda
The new United States administration warned Thursday of targeted sanctions against President Yoweri Museveni and all the security people involved in violence that marred the 2021 election US department of State spokesperson Ned Price in a press briefing said the Joe Biden administration is closely following the happenings in Uganda and will consider targeted sanctions against Uganda.

“Uganda’s January 14 elections were marred by elections irregularities and abuses by the government’s security services against opposition candidates and members of the civil society. We will consider a range of targeted options to hold accountable for what we saw in relation to Uganda elections,” said Mr. Ned Price at a press briefing on Tuesday.

The State Department too called for an independent and thorough investigationof the human rights violations in Uganda.

Some of the resolutions include; justice and accountability for Ugandans who died in November riots, increasing scrutiny of Uganda’s fiscal management and transparency and systematic review of EU budget support programmes.

They also reiterated the need for sanctions against individuals and organizations responsible for human rights violations in Uganda.

~~~ANOTHER ABDUCTION~~~~~
This morning, I recieved a call from our coordinator in Rakai informing me that our supporter and polling agent in the just concluded election, Ssedanzi Paul was abducted by three men, two in plain clothes and one in a military uniform but all of them armed with AK47 guns. He was picked from his home in Kamukalo in Rakai today at 4am in the morning, severely beaten before he was taken away to an unknown destination. The regime is in overdrive, we too should step up our efforts to achieve our freedom.
The City lawyer Male Mabirizi has petitioned the Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo asking him to excuse himself from the presidential election petition filed by National Unity Platform-NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi.
Kyagulanyi, the first runners up wants court to invalidate the declaration of Museveni as president-elect of the January 14th election on grounds that it was not conducted in accordance with the principles laid down in the laws governing elections such as the Constitution, the Presidential Elections Act and the Electoral Commission Act. He cites intimidation of voters, heavy security deployment during election, and arrest of his agents among other factors for the petition.
Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo is to lead a panel of nine justices to hear the petition.
But Mabirizi says Owiny-Dollo’s earlier relationship as Museveni’s lawyer and the fact that he has held discussions with the same respondent after Kyagulanyi’s petition had been filed makes the Chief Justice’s presence on the panel “not only be illegal but also unacceptable under constitutional and fairness principle since justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done.”
The other justices besides Owiny-Dollo are Dr Esther Kisaakye Kitimbo, Stella Arach-Amoko, Rubby Aweri Opio, Faith Essy Mwondha, Paul Kahaibale Mugamba, Ezekiel Muhanguzi, Percy Night Tuhaise, and Mike Chibita. They are expected to determine the case in mid-March.
Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo
But arguing why Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo should not be part of the panel hearing the case, Mabirizi says he has information that the Chief Justice was a lawyer representing Museveni in 2006 when he was accused of similar misconduct in the presidential petition filed by Dr. Kizza Besigye who also challenged Museveni’s victory then.
Mabirizi says that he is informed that the Chief Justice recently met President Museveni at State House as Kyagulanyi’s petition is pending determination.
He says Owiny-Dollo’s participation in the case erodes the confidence not only in him but the entire judiciary because “judgment must be rooted in confidence and confidence is destroyed when right minded people go away thinking the judge was biased.”
Mabirizi refers to Legal Notice No.7 of 2019 which states that a judicial officer shall refrain from participating in any proceedings in which the impartiality of the judicial officer may reasonably be questioned.
Section one of the same notice further requires recusal “where a judicial officer has background information or experience such as the judicial officer’s prior work as a lawyer.”
Mabirizi says that if the Chief Justice continues sitting on the panel, he will no doubt be contravening the Constitutional principles laid down under Article 28(1) which talks about right to fair hearing and Article 44(C) which prohibits derogation from the enjoyment of particular human rights which include right to fair hearing.
He also adds Article 126 which provides for judicial power which is derived from the people and should be exercised by the courts in the name of the people and in conformity with law and with the values, norms and aspirations of the people and lastly Article 128 which provides for independence of the Constitution.
Mabirizi argues that the constitution “was made after several human sacrifices of our dear predecessors and brothers in the name of fairness as indicated in the preamble of the constitution and you will have abdicated your judicial oath”.
He adds that “It will not only be illegal but also unacceptable under constitutional and fairness principle since justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done”
Mabirizi’s petition was received by the office of the Chief Justice on Friday 12th 2021 and a response is yet to be given.
Ec boss Byabakama takes ‘leave’
The reports of his resignation emerged after the notice of the publication of the 2021 presidential election results dated February 1 was signed by his deputy Aisha Lubega.
However, according to the EC Commissioner Stephen Tashobya, Byabakama had accumulated leave and he found it convenient to take it this time round.
The former headmistress of Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School is now the acting chairperson of the commission.
Neverthless, the public is questioning Byabakama’s timing to take leave as the 2021 presidential election that he presided over is being challenged in the Supreme Court by the National Unity Platform flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
Byabakama declared incumbent President Yoweri Museveni as the winner with 58.38% of the total votes cast while Bobi Wine got 35.08% of the votes.
Bobi Wine is contesting the results saying the election was rigged by Museveni with the help of the EC.
Day six under house arrest and we're still stuck with an 18month old baby. Her dad had brought her to visit her auntie (Barbie) just before we were raided and besieged, he was blocked from picking her up.
We have completely run out of food and milk yet no one is allowed to leave or come into our home.
With these senseless arrests, the dictatorship is propagating a culture where if someone supports Bobi Kyagulanyi and National Unity Platform is treated like a criminal. Basically you have to look over your shoulder every now and then. This can only end in tears for the country.😭. If we joke with 14th Jan. We might be doomed.
