The head of the National Construction Association of Sri Lanka (NCASL) said amid slowing business in construction following the nation's economic crisis that Sri Lanka's construction industry is in a serious crisis as contractors are owed 150 billion rupees in arrears on work performed for the state. In its most recent list of more than 300 products, Sri Lanka has temporarily stopped importing building supplies as of August 23 till further notice. The list includes certain industrial equipment, such as ball bearings, packing machines, and metalworking machinery.
