Sri Lanka's crisis-hit government is scheduled to present an interim budget to Parliament today for the remainder of 2022. The interim budget is likely to aim for a 9.9 percent budget deficit for 2022, which is lower than the earlier 12 percent. Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe says Sri Lanka is cutting cross-border transaction costs for expatriate workers. Using Lanka Remit will help track remittances and claim duty-free and other benefits provided by the government, Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara says.
