Tedeska SUT
I think Tedeska are the best phono cartridges in the world. Each cart is designed and hand build by Hyun Lee in Berlin, Germany. It takes him a whole week to build each cart. This has some pros and cons: You have to wait a lot of time for your cart once you order it, because you know, you are not the only crazy audiophile in the world and they are expensive. On the other hand you get a cart that does everything perfectly. Super detail, tracking, warm sound, super dynamic, and customizable to your system and tastes. And they are also beautiful to look at.
Mr. Lee used to build Step Up Transformers more than 10 years ago and I had the chance to test on of those at home. It was hands down the best SUT I’ve ever heard. But it was custom build for a friend of mine and no longer in production. It was better that Koetsu, and the now highly regarded Consolidated Audio SUTs. So I begged Mr. Lee if he could make a new SUT for my system. And I needed it to have two inputs, as I have two turntables, with different gain and load options. I finally convince him. I had to wait a year. He used a shielded Rohde and Schwartz case used for equipment measurement. Adapted it and then it took him a year to find the specific metal alloy for the SUT.
Finally it arrived and yes. It’s as spectacular as all the things Tedeska. Soundstage, air, tone, warmth, detailed, dynamic. All specs are better that any other SUT I’ve ever tried.
I’m in love with it. The industrial look. Turning the k***s feels like operating a space ship from the Apollo program. It’s a beautiful thing in every way.
