It would not be wrong to call Mud Village (or Mudh Village) as the heart of Pin Valley. It is definitely not the biggest village in the valley; that credit goes to the nearby Sagnam Village. But in terms of tourism, Mud is the one that serves as the destination for everyone coming to Pin Valley. I think the biggest reason behind this is that it is the last village and the road ends here. So everyone coming this way plans to go as far as the road goes, stay there for the night and return the next day. All the other towns fall on the way. The second reason is of course of the view that you get from here.

Mud Village is a small village located in Pin Valley at an altitude of 3700 meters (12,139 ft.) It is one of the 17 villages of Pin Valley and is a cluster of about 40 odd homes and a few guesthouses. It is connected with the rest of the state and the country with a motorable dirt road. The villagers here depend on farming (and now tourism as well) for their livelihood.

The entire region including Mud Village was mostly unknown until recently. Their first touch with the tourism industry and rest of the world was possibly when Bollywood arrived here with their cameras to shoot a few sequences of John Abraham starrer ‘Paap’. The song ‘Intezaar’ was shot here with Udita Goswami wandering the valleys in and around Mud Village.

This is the most stunning monastery in Spiti because of its pyramid kind of structure. Key/Kee monastery is 14KM away from Kaza (a town in Spiti Valley).

Kye Gompa (also spelled Ki, Key or Kee - pronounced like English key) is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Gelugpa sect located on top of a hill at an altitude of 4,166 metres (13,668 ft) above sea level, close to the Spiti River, in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh, Lahaul and Spiti district, India.

It is the largest monastery of the Spiti Valley and a religious training centre for lamas. It reportedly had 100 monks in 1855.

Here's I'm showcasing 33 metre statue of Maitreya Buddha near Diskit Monastery facing down the Shyok River towards Nubra Valley.

Diskit Monastery also known as Deskit Gompa or Diskit Gompa is the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery (gompa) in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh, northern India.

It belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It was founded by Changzem Tserab Zangpo, a disciple of Tsong Khapa, founder of Gelugpa, in the 14th century. It is a sub-gompa of the Thiksey gompa.

Lachung Temple and Hundur Monastery are also located nearby, the latter is below the main road near a bridge.

Dhankar Gompa (also Dankhar, Drangkhar or Dhangkar Gompa; Brang-mkhar or Grang-mkhar) is a village and also a Gompa, a Buddhist temple in the district of Lahaul and Spiti in India. It is situated at an elevation of 3,894 metres (12,774 feet) in the Spiti Valley above Dhankar Village, between the towns of Kaza and Tabo. The complex is built on a 1000-foot (300-metre) high spur overlooking the confluence of the Spiti and Pin Rivers - one of the world's most spectacular settings for a gompa. Dhang or dang means cliff, and kar or khar means fort. Hence Dhangkar means fort on a cliff.

Gompa at Dhankar Lake. It was terrible experience for me to hike at around 13500 feet altitude. But the final view was just incredible. ☺️

It was 20th May,2022. We ( and me) were sleeping after having dinner at Sonam Homestay and suddenly we felt suffocation at 11PM. And then I thought of shooting milkyways but it was so cold outside with clear sky. But no one was ready to go outside with me. Then Anish told me to capture a snapshot from the window. And when I captured the photo on my .nord we were able to see a clear band of milkyway. Then I picked up my camera,tripod and batteries and convinced my friends to go out with me for shooting startrail and milkyway. It was so chilled outside that it could be around -4/-5°C . Luckily there were no people and we were shooting for 2 hrs and when there was no tolerance left in our body we went back to our homestay. That night was truly magical. We were able to see milkyway with naked eyes which was unexpected thing for us! 😄

Do you love living different traditions?
📍Green Tara Homestay, Tabo, Spiti, Himachal Pradesh.
Himachal is literally a heaven and people of Himachal are like angel. They are so kind and humble. Our Day 3 stay was at and the hospitality is just a wonder. Wearing the traditional Tibetan Dress and staying in a hotel with complete traditional way are my exceptional things.😍
