A newly founded political movement known as the Union Party of South Sudan or UPSS has condemned the clashes between SSPDF and civilians in Nasir County. The spokesperson of the UPSS, Sudan Regan Tut says his party is dismayed by the use of forces by the South Sudan People's Defense Force (SSPDF) against civilians. He says used of violence is not acceptable, while calling for an investigation and accountability of alleged forces that instigated violence among the civilians.
The SSPDF spokesperson confirmed that 13 soldiers were among 17 killed in Wednesday’s heavy fighting in Nasir County, on the fighting that was triggered by what he described "extra marrital affair."
