Redwoods Listening Post The Redwoods Listening Post is a collaborative project of Access Humboldt and Internews building div

This pilot project, called Community Voices Coalition, will build diverse local media collaborations to support local news and information efforts of community-based information providers. Redwoods Listening Post (RLP) will help to bring forward new perspectives and accurate, insightful coverage of local issues relating to the COVID pandemic response and recovery. Local partners, including media o

utlets, non-profits, civic organizations and informal initiatives will surface issues for and about the least-served and most vulnerable communities in the region. Partner News Organizations (PNOs): News media outlets that have their own branded content and agree to participate. North Coast Journal, Lost Coast/Wild Rivers Outpost, Eureka Times-Standard, KMUD, Two Rivers Tribune, Redheaded Blackbelt, etc… Community Voices Coalition (CVC) distribution resources will be shared as an open source platform available to all partnering news organizations. Contributors - reporters/authors of stories the Project is supporting. CVC project support managed by RLP will be combinations of cash stipends, translation services, production support, re-versioning stories across media platforms (radio/tv/online/print), hosting versions for truly open source sharing online at Community Media Archive.

On January 10th, 2022, the City Council had a meeting in which they heard from a group of young activists advocating for a To***co Retail Relicensing Process that would assist in protecting young people from the use to***co, ni****ne, and va**ng products. After a lengthy presentation asking the City Council for help, it finally came time to weigh in. A divisive debate ensued, and the matter still stands---this is the story of the youth coalition whose mission is to keep vapes out of the hands of minors, the city official's responses, and what comes next.

This video was produced by Persephone Rose. Scripts were written by Monique Camarena and Grant Meriwether. Voices lent were Persephone, Monique, and Grant. Grant also served as the interviewer for this story. Special thanks to the members of STORM, who spoke to us for this piece.
